The franchising fee isn't worth it. Needed a new opener and parts, basically needed everything replaced except the tracks and the door itself. They got it done good and fast, but the bill for this came in at $4927. The tech they sent was very friendly and good to work with, was able to negotiate $750 off with him after the fact, service was fast and great. Not worth the premium plus plus pricing though. I badly wish I would have shopped around. Probably could have got it done for half the price. Included my invoice for reference. Note that installation time is included in the parts quote. Took the tech 5 hours to complete. I think a high end pricing for this job would have been $3500; since it was done fast and good I would have happily paid that and left a 5 star review. Parts online looked to cost about $1500 tops. The opener alone was $800 online verses $2100 in the quote. read more

It started off well enough, the guy who came out was friendly and knowledgeable. He started pushing the upgraded double steel door which was supposedly the same price as the single sided steel because it was on sale. When my husband insisted that the price quoted ($2700 door only+install, no opener or add-ons) was too high, he got quite angry and insisted that we wouldn't be able to get a better price anywhere. After we insisted, he went out to his car to "talk to his boss" and then stormed back inside to grab his computer, saying "yeah, we're out, I'm not gonna take that kind of cut" and was ranting about "why did you even call me out if you thought you were getting a better price from someone else". Even though he had been so kind and personable up until that point, when he sensed the deal might not go through, he got borderline aggressive and made me very uncomfortable. Shady, aggressive, tactics overall. I'm glad we passed because we got a double steel door for $700 less from another contractor. Precision Garage Door came to our rescue! While we knew the spring broke on the garage door Friday night, we thought we'd be able to manually lift it on Saturday. So when the prior garage door repair company we called didn't get back with us - and we found out we couldn't life the door Saturday morning, I looked for another answer in a panic. Precision was the first company to show up when I Googled garage door repair. I saw 24/7 hours and same day service and called right away. We were given a repair window of 12-4 when I called in at 11 AM. While I wish the repair could have been immediate, when they showed up within 2 hours (at 1 PM), I was quite pleased. The tech looked over the situation, gave me some options on the spring and other fixes/maintenance needed - and had everything with them to do the work when I authorized all services. They were done within the 1.5 hour gestimate they provided and it came time to pay. I have no idea if the pricing is competitive as I didn't have the luxury of getting 3 estimates. I had to cancel one appointment when my car was held hostage by the garage door, I only hoped to set it free in time for the other plans I had that day. The Precision workers were wonderful - efficient, professional and nice to speak to. I highly recommend you give them a call - especially if you're in a pinch. As a follow up - the other company finally returned our call after we'd made the appointment with Precision. As it turns out - they would not have been able to get to us same day. Upselling and Ripoff Prices I followed the many glowing reviews about Scott and Precision Garage Door Service, so had them out to address a likely broken spring (big bang just like a broken spring, but no pieces visible). The good news: Scott came out within a couple hours of my online booking and the trip charge is a very reasonable $20. Also, Scott is a personable, interactive guy who likes to chat. The bad news: The whole trip was devoted to upselling unneeded and horrendously priced services. For each suggested service, it was all done under the guise of: "Well maybe it is a problem and maybe it isn't, so it is up to you whatever you want to have done." That is not what I need or expect from an experienced technician. I want to hear what is essential to do, and what is unnecessary. With all their experience, they should know much better than most homeowners. For example, Scott noted that there was some "dirt" around to torsion bar bearings, actually fine metal filings from wear. All true, all normal after 35 years years in service. But there was no sign of binding or free play in the bearings, so no reason to expect trouble. He quoted a price of $176 per bearing plate, noting that garage door parts were horrendously expensive. Bearing plates cost about $10 each at Home Depot or Amazon. The replacement time for two was to be about 1 hour according to Scott. That makes the labor rate for the work of about $300 per hour, more than many doctors and lawyers make. Scott thought that the spring should/could be changed, even though it was not broken and it was installed within the last two years. The cost for that? $392. The time for that work was 1/2 hour to 1 hour. The cost of garage door springs at Home Depot of Amazon? $40-$50. Again, a $300-$600 effective labor rate. My advice: steer away from Precision and find a company that knows what you need and charges what they should. read more

I believe the repair man was ripping us off. He told me we would needed a whole new system. He quoted us $1500 to repair it. I call another company and he told it was probably just a bad sensor and it was a minor fix. I told the the precision door repair that we were getting a second estimate, The repair man from Precision Door suddenly found loose wires and was revising his estimate and for a lot less. When he claimed found loose wires in the motor it was only a couple minutes and he never got a ladder to get up to check out the motor. He charged us $209 for a service call. read more

Not Trust Worthy Our 2 garage doors were repaired by PDS and they used their lifetime guarneteed signature (Green Spring). The spring broke after a 1 year or so. They came out and said the spring was theirs but the bar holding it up was not theirs and they conveniently could not find any record of it. Although we had their employees name and number. It would cost $500 to replace the spring and they would give us a $75 discount. We called the manager, he refused to answer the phone, although the repairman was texting him the whole time. Scheduled an appointment and was assigned a rep to come out-Matt E. Explained my door issue: will open by does not close with the remote, have to close it with the wall control, door is only 5 yrs old. Matt explained that my rollers and some other hardware needed to be replaced and the difference in packages (good $870- included 1 yr warranty, better $1375-1 yr and 5 yr warranty and best $1575 w/ a 7yr warranty) Stated no work would be done as I would like to have another estimate. He then stated there was a service fee of $49.95- this would go towards the bill if I allowed their company to do the work. I was surprised as this was not stated or explained when I scheduled (not that it was a problem paying, but confirm the amount that would be do if I did or didn't agree to the work). I still don't know what the $20 fleet transportation fee is on the invoices. Also told me that the company would do a "price match or reimburse for the difference" if I let them do the work and the other company quote was lower than what they provided to me. Needless to say, the other company provided a far lower quote (HUNDREDS LESS) and the issue was related to my sensors- not sure this was something that was checked by Matt/precision. Had company come to my property in Victorian Village to fix my garage door. They installed a brace on one door that was already working fine. They fixed the other door, and it came off the track right after they left. They also told me I needed a new garage door opener, and wanted to charge me $1000 for it. I had another company come the next day and look at the door, and they confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the garage door opener. The other company also could install another opener for 40% less. I paid too much for what little work they did, and I do not trust precision door. read more

I had a spring break on one of my garage doors. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of calling a company that claimed to be the "masters" of garage door service. They replaced the spring the day after I called but after that, I had continuous issues with the door opening and closing with loud noises. I called them back to take a second look and the tech brought his supervisor with him. They sprayed some lube on the wheels, adjusted the torque settings on the opener and called it good to go with the caveat that opener was on its last leg. After they left, we continued to have issues, so we decided to call Precision. My wife called on a Saturday and they said someone would be out the next day. I chose to replace the opener myself because it locked up that day so I told my wife to cancel the appointment. Sunday morning, I replaced the opener and still had issues. I asked my wife to call them back (eating crow) and they said they could be there same day! When the tech showed up, he listened to all my issues. He immediately showed me that the spring the other company installed was a 10k cycle spring vs. the 30k cycle springs that Precision uses. He also showed me that the bearing had gone bad on the torsion rod and it had almost worn all the way through! Someone could have been killed when it broke! So thankful we found Precision when we did. Our door is now safe and virtually silent when it opens and closes. I highly recommend them and truly appreciate the tech that helped us. He was calm, cool, and collected, and showed all the issues and the solutions in a way that was easily understandable. read more

I typically don't leave negative reviews, positive yes, but generally stick with if you haven't got anything good to say, don't say it at all. However, this was so bad I feel it is only fair to put it out there. We had a working garage door. We were adding additional remotes and upon opening the door it became stuck and wouldn't work. My husband disconnected the door, we checked the sensors, etc. to no avail. We phoned Premier Garage Door. They have a large number of very positive reviews. The service technician who came to the home mentioned figures ranging from $200+ to over $1,000. We were told we needed a new electronic board, new springs, a new frame...if we wanted to save money we could purchase a new garage door opener ourselves and he would install it for $265. He disconnected the garage door and pretended to struggle to lift the door, stating the system was from 2010 and really needed replaced. This is the same door that we disconnected the night before and had no issue manually lifting. The sales pitch was so exaggerated and ridiculous that my husband brought the tech into the house to repeat everything to me before stating we wouldn't need their services. Needless to say, we paid the $49.99 charge to come out, called another company, 614 Garage Door, paid $100 and the door works great. In addition, the tech from 614 explained how to tell if our springs were bad, along with additional information to prevent us from being scammed in the future. Our garage door had simply kicked back too far and became stuck. The 614 tech adjusted the door and reset our garage door openers for use and we haven't had any issues since. Thanks to 614 Garage Door for repairing our door in under 30 minutes and being honest and informative. I do not recommend Premier Garage Door. Thank goodness they only got me for $49.99. read more

First time using Precision Garage Doors. Had what I believed to be a short in the garage door electrical unit itself. Unit kept stopping in the middle of door open or closing progress, leaving either a partly opened or partly closed door. Not safe as that door leads into our home. PGD arrived, inspected the unit and showed me how the door unit and electronics were fine, but that the electrical outlet receiving the door unit cord was loose and could cause a fire.
