Our trusty 2001 Toyota Highlander with 165k miles started consuming oil like crazy (1 quart every…read more100 miles!) on a cross-country road trip from Seattle to Charleston, SC. The Toyota dealer in Ogden charged us $125 for a cursory inspection that didn't even include compression test and insisted we needed a new engine. The great guys at European & Japanese Auto (Samuel and Melvin) performed a compression test (found no issues) and scoped the valves with a camera (mostly clean). The Toyota dealer wanted another $300 for those extra steps. These guys would not take payment for the diagnosis. Turns out the excessive oil consumption was caused by the poorly designed rear valve cover and PCV valve assembly, not a dying engine. Somehow the Toyota dealer forgot to mention this well-known issue with older Highlanders and Lexus vehicles. Samuel and Melvin installed an OEM redesigned rear valve cover and gasket (bought from the dealer), a new PCV valve and tubing and intake gasket. Charged half the amount that the dealer wanted for the work ($799 vs $1600). Three days and 500 miles later.... We checked out Provo, UT. Toured the Arches National Park. And now we're relaxing in sunny Santa Fe, NM. Checked our oil many times along the way. The oil level hasn't budged since we left the shop. Problem Solved! These guys are a rare combination of highly skilled automotive expertise, generosity, and honesty. If we lived in the Salt Lake City area they would definitely be our regular auto mechanics. 100% completely satisfied.

I'm impressed with the work done on my vehicle so far. I bought a cheapie 328i with 125k miles on…read moreit and so far they've replaced my cooling system, valve cover, sparks and coils. The work done has improved the quality and reliability of the vehicle. This shop offers a 25k warranty on any repair they do on the vehicle. They charge 150 an hour for labor. it is not cheap, but it's far less expensive than the stealership! For first time customers, they diagnose most of the cars issues within the first visit and they've provided the groundwork for most of my DIY repairs. Owning a BMW is an expensive task, no matter where you bring it, it's either going to be pricey or poorly done in the valley. this place is very good at what they do, you just gotta be willing to pay For frame of reference, My entire cooling system and a re-thread on my engine cost me 3.8k total. Half of which was labor (Therm, Water pump, expansion tank, radiator, all the hoses, etc...) My valve cover, eccentric shaft position sensor, coils and plugs ran me 2.8k, once again, half of which was labor And I plan on going back because the price is worth paying for reliability, and the warranty. These two jobs have parts that fail constantly, it's wonderful they stand behind their work and are willing to replace things if they did them wrong. If you're in the Salt Lake Valley, this indie garage does killer work on BMWs, I have recommended them to multiple people already.

Do not go to this mechanic shop. NEVER EVER GO HERE!! Young kids who do not know how to diagnose…read more I went in with an engine knock. They told me I needed a valve cover replacement because my oil was low. Instead of topping off the oil to diagnose the engine noise, they said I need this done. It cost me $900 bucks. They had my car 3 days and never fixed the engine noise. They gave me a quote for a timing chain fix for $1500. This was wrong. It is not the timing chain problem. I took it to 2 separate seasoned mechanics who both, in under 2 minutes said the same thing. My piston was broke, I need a new engine. If I would have let them keep the truck and do a timing chain, I would be out a total of $2500 all together. They would have just kept going and fixing anything instead of what I came in there for in the first place. They should have never done a valve cover replacement for an engine knock/noise. If they would have even drove my truck or listened to the noise, they would have known it was the pistin broken and hitting the bottom of the engine and the valve cover did not need to be done because I need a whole new engine. They are complete idiots taking you for everything you got. I went to ask for my money back and they just argued with me and said no. We had to do it this way. Well your way totally sucks because I should have never had to pay 900 bucks for you to tell me I need a valve cover gasket. You looked for what was easiest to fix and did not take care of my problem. So now I am out 3 grand for a new motor, plus your 900 fix that didn't need done. Shame on you for taking advantage of me. I want everyone to know you don't fix vehicles in a timely manner or do you diagnose and fix them correctly. I hope this hurts your business as it did my checking account.
