This happened to me today and it's only the 3rd review I've ever done on a business - the first 2…read morewere positive... unlike this one. I made an appointment 7 days prior for a tire changeover from winter to summer tires (I wish I could've done it sooner). A couple of days before my appointment, I called and asked if they could add-on an electrical problem with a headlight and change the headlight and they said yes. I brought my car in a 1/2 hour early. They kept it for over 6 hours before Dennis telephoned me to say they didn't get to work on it because of working on cars from yesterday... really? He apologized and said they could start on it first thing Monday morning. I picked up my car and tires and told Dennis I was very disappointed in being treated this way and I asked if all their customers were treated this way - especially since I made the appointment 7 days prior. Dennis said well, they did have "other" cars to work on... how smug of him. Were the "other" cars on the schedule prior to mine... how ridiculous. This was so disrespectful to me that now, I will not disrespect myself by returning to Hampton Auto Repair to give them my business. It was just a few months ago that I spent over $1,000 there and was a regular customer, but no more. By the way, if I performed My job in this manner there would be consequences. Lacking in customer service. I do not blame the mechanics. By Kathryn Cristoforo, Bay City, MI

Do not go to this place; unless you don't have a problem with Dale Stroebel giving any information…read moreabout your vehicle to Car-fax or other agencies. I went there to have an unusual noise checked out. I felt that paying him, $90, for his time and effort was a good decision. As it turns out.....NOT a good decision at all! He diagnosed the noise as the flywheel between the engine and transmission needing to be replaced. In addition, he also listed his needed repairs that were unrelated to my concern. They were axles, steering linkage and suspension parts, and an oil change. He gave an estimate of $3,086 for the cited repairs and I just had the oil changed 1 month ago. I was not told that he would be publicizing my vehicle's VIN and the cited repairs online for anyone (including car dealers) with access to Car-fax to see. When you go to trade in your car or truck after Dale Stroebel gives you an estimate, even if he does not do any work on your car, this information will be published! He told me this after the fact, and after I had visited a car dealership. There was no up front disclosure regarding his use of the information that he gleaned by inspecting my car.

The business had closed earlier than normal, that we were not aware of. And to find the the vehicle was left in the parking lot, unlocked, so not only, did he LIE about calling us, he left our vehicle unsecured in a open parking lot in the city of saginaw. We will not be doing business with Gales Auto from here on out. To make promises and not stand behind them and lying goes too far to have a reputable business.

I told the guy I had called and what I needed. His response was rude and told me I needed to drop off my vehicle the night before if I wanted it fixed today. Well, that may have been fine, had he told me that YESTERDAY when I called. There are far too many other mechanics in the area for these people to be so rude. Guess I'll find someone else. Thing is, had they done a good job, I have another vehicle that needs extensive work done, and I'd have gladly brought both vehicles to them. Won't now. As a female, auto shops are a scary place where we tend to be taken advantage of. I will shop around and find a place with much better customer service - where they, at least, lie to me respectfully. I give them one star because they were open on time.
