I had a car stereo installed two years ago, my car engine was screwed up after the install, and initially refused to fix since they said it was 'an engine problem'. My car was tip top when I brought. Precision Auto Stereo has been my go to spot for my vehicle. I have a 1998 Honda CR-V which is a commonly stolen car. After having it stolen twice, I went to see them for an alarm and kill switch. Since then when somebody tried to steal my catalytic converter, the alarm system stopped them in their tracks. Otherwise, I have had no issues. I have also had a removable stereo system installed in the dash as well and have gone to them to help with key programming. Do NOT go here. Since the ownership has changed, the new manager is a scam artist. He pretends he is all buddy-buddy with you and then tries to take advantage of a lack of knowledge regarding stereo pricing. My first visit here was fantastic. I bought a stereo and got it installed for less than $200. Service was great and I was given a thorough explanation of how much I could choose to pay versus what quality I would get. The second trip, not so much. We were informed the shop had come under new ownership in our attempt to get a stereo installed for our second car. The new stereo selection was much more expensive, as was the charge for labor. As we were unfamiliar with current prices and it had been 2 years since the last visit, we agreed to an install and set up an appointment. The manager said we had to pay up front to get the discount he had advertised on the parts. When we got home, we checked amazon and found the parts listed for 25% of what they were charging at Precision, even after he "threw on a discount." I called to cancel our appointment and then (and only then) were we informed there was a no refund policy. Yeah, thanks a lot. If we had known that we wouldn't have paid up front. Now they're saying we never cancelled. Please save your money and do more research than we did. This guy will rip you off. read more

Before coming to Precision Auto Stereo, i had gone to my local audio shop, which had "good" reviews. However, i had a horrible experience and swore to never come back. I looked through Yelp and found this place, keep in mind it's about an hour away from where i live, but it's totally worth it! I took in a Toyota Prius 2015 to have a Pioneer AVH-W8400NEX installed along with an amp. Then i had my Prius 2006 taken in to remove the aftermarket stereo, which they did a great job. When i first came in, i expressed how reluctant i was to let anyone touch my car, because of my first experience. They explained everything and answered all and any questions i had to make sure i was 100% satisfied. Now i problem i have with shops are that they usually don't think my car is something of "premium" and treat it like nothing. However, here they understood about the car, and took care of it. I liked it so much, that i came back another time with another car to have a stereo removed. If you want an audio shop that knows about their things, and has good prices, then you found the one. The guy who runs this place is just awful. I called Precision Auto Stereo to ask about pricing for backup sensors for my car. The guy on the phone (the owner) immediately said that I need to come down and that he can't discuss pricing or options over the phone. This tactic is a typical cheesy sales person approach. Their goal is to get you in the door so they can pressure you into buying. I challenged him (the owner who can barely speak English) about it and he became upset and confrontational and ultimately hung up on me. Not a good approach for earning my business. If this interaction is typical of how he treats people in the sales process, imagine what happens if he works on your car and there's an issue? That I'm sure would be a total disaster. He would likely yell at you, assume no responsibility, and claim it's not his issue, etc... Anyhow, I later called AutoHaus (they are just down the street) and they immediately conveyed a price over the phone for the year, make, and model of my vehicle. In the past I've used Autohaus for other work and they were always professional and upfront without the cheesy sales tactics. Needless to say I will be taking my car to AutoHaus and will avoid Precision altogether. PS - take a look below at the comment from the business. He is behaving exactly as I described. We got some 6X9s and an amp wiring kit today, but they also helped me plan for what I might do in the future. Great experience. Update: Back again to get a subwoofer. The 6X9s we got last visit sound great, but we need a little kick now. They remembered us from last visit (including all the details of the vehicle) and helped select a setup that they think will sound very good for my vehicle and musical taste. I first started doing business with Precision Audio in 2015. My first encounter was a complete stereo installation with carpeted boxes custom cut out holes for 6 by 9 setup, this was done to my 2009 Harley Davidson Road Glide. When I got my bike back I was blown away with the clear sound in the amount of bass that was produced by for 6 by 9s. Since then I only had to come back for regular scheduled maintenance with no additional charge. After my grandson catalytic converter was stolen, I started to worry that his car might get stolen next. The factory alarm wasn't working properly. I saw where people were installing kill switches so I reached out to this company to get one installed. I was told $100. I asked if he could look at the old alarm and he said he could not work on it. I heard him telling someone else that the alarms have kill switches in them so for $200 I had an alarm with kill switch installed. For some reason the tech could not get the alarm to go off with the aux button but it turns off and on. Also he left the fuse box cover off. I discovered that when I got home. I figured out how to put it back. All and all it took a little over an hour. This alarm is quieter than the original one which was pretty loud. read more

Tell me what you think of my story, maybe it's just me...??? Had my own Amp JL900hd and JLW710 in box...needed a new head unit Alpine 154 he had to order and Mids and tweets.. Wanted the JLc5 set up... talk to Frankie he quotes me a price, I agree.. didn't really question him because he seemed like a stand up guy (I felt his personality lacked warmth and maybe because I'm a dude and he needed to be "professional" but, that reinforced my position of, people whom act sterile, keep there personality separate from decisions are more likely to screw you because there's no soul in professionalism) I decide to get the best Alarm too.. he tells me 700+ with the perimeter add on for convertibles...Yes..He mentions if there isn't a problem it will not cost as much as the quote..we talked a little about my car already being pre wired for alarm and all that... I mention i want the parking lights to flash, he says, he can't because it will cause my dash indicators to go crazy...Booo ; ( I say ok, i need one now because i have all this expensive beat in here now...right?? They say they can have it done in a day, ok... I"m off on Thurs & Friday... I drive in Wednesday afternoon so I can get it back the next day.... Oh, and I asked for Pictures so I can see what they done.. Frankie says, "yes" to that (kinda anal, i know) But, it's important to know where every thing is just incase i have to make adjustments... I can't remember perfectly what happened right now but, I got a call saying C5 speakers didn't fit and they have to install c3's ...Ok ; (( yeah, do what ever needs to be done, all good.. I get a call saying my car won't be done... I kinda got mad, I explained that i made an extra effort to drop it off early and i expect my car today... he calls at like 5 mins before closing time (for them)... says to come get it.. I live in Emeryville..?? he did say he would wait... But, it's Date night with my wife and dinner hour is upongst us...the wifey aint hearing that I pick up my car everything seems fine as it should, Sounded like shit actually when i got there. almost like an AM radio. they mentioned tuning it but, not even close... I was actually really disappointed... being they said they where tuning it when i was on my way...so, I spent a little while dialing it in. but, with a new head unit, it takes a long while to figure out all the little things it can do.. with the HPF and LPF along with the Equilizer...took a minute and it's sounded good ..AS it Should, it has the 900 watts, Good mids & tweets, ALPINE, and A JLW710 .. it suppose to HIT a little....it did Settled up, No discounts, same total he quoted me before. oh, so he must of wired the whole car. professional style. I inquired a little, he gave me some answer...ok, I'm out. Something isn't right. Wait, He quoted me for JLc5 mids and tweets but, i have C3 should be 2 to 3 hundred LESS for those as per my research... I call, he says..he deducted it... I'm looking on the bill..I don't see a deduction..??? it says I have C5 mids and tweets!!!.. A couple of days later, I realize my face plate on my stereo can't be removed.. I call, Frankie say, oh yeah, we had to make it inoperable for your car...um, I have a convertible... that's one of the biggest reasons i got that model!!! ??? Due to the angle, the button can't be reached with my finger so, I stick my car key there and depress the button for removal of the face plate.. but, Im wondering why he didn't know that or TELL me that Before install or when i got there to pick it up..??? (stil no pic) I go by another Beat shop in SF (where my car is right now).. OHHH, another .. two more things; I open my trunk and my alarm doesn't go off...WTF!!! So i paid 700, close to 800 for an alarm that doesn't protect half of my stereo stuff and all my shopping packages??? yes!!! you did... Anyway, Im talking to the Shop owner at CITY he says 700+ isn't bad for that alarm but, is it REFURBISHED??? I look at my box, and it has writing on it, "bad antenna" and "good" .I'm thinking it was Refurbished... not sure but, yeah ..probably.. and he also said, it's a 90 day warrantee and not lifetime ..not sure but, what ever... Shit like that is why people need not use this guys service ... Oh yeah, My driver's side door panel is loose now...and speaker wire is hanging out ; (( I had a rear light indicator on when i picked up the car (wasn't on when i dropped it off) I went to change it and NO BULB..weird..?? I can only speculate, some one broke it and didn't say anything??? stole it?? ... no one said anything!!! So Now my car is at City getting the Trunk alarmed for an additional 50 bucks and my parking lights added for another 80 dollars...I'll see what happens tomorrow concerning my dash lights or not.. He answered all my questions, which included a lot price comparison based on different models of radios and installation; also price changes if I were to install a rear camera. Once I came in they the guy who helped me, Sayed, was very friendly, patient and answered all my questions. They were happy to install something I purchased on my own even though they weren't going to make money on a sale. The installation guy also did a good job and I appreciated he was careful not to get my vehicle dirty, since it's been raining. I will also add their prices are very competitive. I usually do my car audio installs myself; I mean, I know exactly what I want and where I want it, and I enjoy getting my hands dirty, plus the blood, sweat and tears are a reward in and of themselves. I have never done an install on a brand new ride, however. Because I plan on keeping my new '14 Mazda CX-5 for a long time, I wanted the install to be *clean*, damn near invisible if possible. So I hit The Internets to see who was recommended. Precision Auto Stereo was on the short list of installers that were nearby, and they were the highest rated. I took a look at their website, and saw that it hadn't been updated in a while, but figured, eh, that's not unusual when a business is too busy doing fantastic work to worry about blog entries. I walked in on a Tuesday morning around opening time, and met Frankie, who I think is one of the shop owners. I told him I wanted to upgrade my stock system without messing with the head unit; I wanted to keep the steering-wheel controls and all the other factory inputs, but I wanted it to sound way better than the muddy factory system. I did my research ahead of time, and knew pretty much what I wanted, and Frankie recognized that, and was happy to work with me to build exactly what I wanted. We settled on an all JL setup, with CleanSweep, C2 series coaxials all around, backed up with a 6-channel XD, plus a JX250 mono to a clean, tight CP MicroSub. Frankie took the time to sketch it all out with me on paper, and really understand what I wanted. He already had an install to do that day, but he fit me in same day (awesome) and even gave me a nice discount to earn my business. He even had one of his guys give me a ride back to my house. Now that's service. When it was all done, I had a sound system that I was *proud* of. Holy crap, it sounds AMAZING. Not only that, but *everything* was hidden, like I wanted; you wouldn't even know until you heard it, that's how stealth it was. There was a knob that needed to be installed for the CleanSweep signal processor; it was installed in such a way that made it look like it came that way from the factory. I can't rave enough about how careful they were with the interior: It looked like the day I picked it up at the dealer, except for the concert hall inside. Not only that, but they tuned the system exactly the way I wanted it (and I'm a picky mofo with a "golden ear" lol) I'm super happy with the gear, the price, the install, the experience, the people, even the shop (nice and clean, good looking showroom, plenty of parking, working demo displays... nothing like the crappy car audio section at Fry's)... Most of all though, I'm super, super happy with the SOUND. I volunteer to go pick up stuff at the store now just so I can listen to some tunes.
