George takes care of the front desk, updates you on your card status, and the billing. He made sure I was offered water or coffee, and made great conversation about the business, himself, and the gym. (Ladies he is single). I did not run into any issues here and they were very friendly. The prices were not outrageously high depending on the service you received for your vehicle. I love and Jersey and I wouldn't mind crossing a bridge again to visit Preston's Garage for my car needs.

He does all the work on two of our cars and has done so for almost 10 years. He charges slightly less than dealers, probably a bit more than other shops. But he is on a high traffic corner and he supervises all the work himself, applying years of experience. He sells cars for a fixed fee (and got an extra couple of grand for me on one auto sale). He picks me up and drops me off when I don't have another ride available (I live close by). He saved us thousands and a great many days of effort by going to bat for us with a dealer who was hesitating to replace a Prius' battery when it was still under warranty. This is the short list. I clearly explained my situation--that I didn't want to put money into the car, just wanted a price. The guy insisted he needed to see it, saying it could be something else. Thinking it might be a minor issue, I brought it in. All he did was check the transmission fluid level and scan for codes--both things that require no special shop skills. Then he told me I needed a brand-new transmission, not a rebuilt one. The kicker? He charged me $175 for doing almost nothing. If you're planning to have your transmission replaced, maybe they're fine for that. But for me, their customer service is a zero. I checked my own fluid and code scans are free at AutoZone--though I never had a check engine light, so no codes would have shown anyway. To make matters worse, they also charged me for a part I requested a refund for, which was never replaced, and they never refunded me. Terrible way to do business.

Went to Tim for a diagnostic only (requested no repairs yet because it's an older car). My car had…read moresome rattling, passenger side floor getting wet, and the engine light came on a few days prior to my visit. Tim did the full diagnostic, fixed the rattling sound, and reconnected my AC hose and only charged me for the parts. In and out in an hour and everything seems to be working great. Very reasonable diagnostic price ($72) when compared to Firestone ($100). Went back to Tim when my check engine light came on again. He checked out the transmission and made calls and gave me a really fair estimate to rebuild the transmission. He didn't charge me for taking a second look at the probkem. It will never blow up again thanks to an external trans cooler. You get what you pay for. This thing has been dynamite, maybe 5 years now. He has also serviced my transfer case, U-joints, and hubs.
