Usually when you're talking about auto anything, the rates are high they take advantage of people and they take their sweet time. I have dropped by and visited with Phil and Blake for an oil change or air my tires or a the best car detailing, you will ever get among other things, or sometimes just to say hello and they always accommodate me. I've never had to wait for more than a half an hour for anything and they don't charge you anywhere near what the other auto repair outfits do. Even if they did charge me a lot, I would still go here because to support Phil and to see Blake puts a smile on my face and we always have a good chat. There is nothing that Precise auto can't do and they're expanding their capabilities all the time. If you live in anywhere in Maryland, this is your option. I came in with an overheating issue on my old car and they let me know that the repairs for my car far exceeded the value and when I replaced it, they were more than reasonable in doing a MD state inspection for me. Brought our Kia Soul for a MD Inspection. Right after we dropped it off, we got a call from Sheila giving us a list of items that had to be repaired - which is to be expected. One item she mentioned was the battery; she said our battery was old and needed to be replaced. I responded to her by saying that AAA just installed a brand new battery two months ago and that we had the receipt. She then put me on hold and replied, "oh I'm sorry, my mistake, it's just the connectors so it's all good, we will clean it for you." That was my first cause for suspicion. They were trying to scam us for buying a new battery - nice try. Later, she mentioned we needed the steering wheel fixed to pass inspection which we agreed to. They had the car for an entire week and, according to Sheila, they received a defective part for the repair and had to get another one, thus causing a delay. Eventually, after picking up the car, we noticed that the steering wheel was tilted to the left when the car was driving straight. We called Sheila right away. After they checked the car, they told us that we need to pay for alignment (Scam #2). We mentioned to her that AAA just installed four new tires two weeks ago and that they did the alignment for which we have the receipt. She passed me to a manager who was probably the rudest person (self entitled up the wazoo) I have spoken to in the last ten years. He yelled at me saying that it's not their problem and, although they had worked on the steering wheel, the problem had nothing to do with their work. After fighting with him over the phone for 15 minutes, he agreed to fix what they broke at the first place at no charge. We brought the car there again for the last time; they fixed it and although they didn't admit to trying to scam us twice, at least they didn't try to charge us for fixing what was supposed to have been fixed in the first place. Recommendation - stay away from them, there are other car repair places in the area that will scam you less. read more

My Infiniti, had sat unused for four years. My car was towed to Precise, because Costco recommended them. Towed so as not to circulate deteriorated gas and oil throughout the system, the manager called after a couple of days and quoted a ball park amount, not itemized figure, over the phone. Then he put me on hold, came back and asked "if I wanted Costco's discount or his Lower discount. I said the lower discount. He did not Email or text an. But instead he highballed then lowballed me-the ole bait and switch discount. All clear in hindsight. I asked specifically for an oil change and gas tank flush, since the car had sat for four years. I asked for a diagnostic to see if the car was worth being repaired given the age and value of the car. Blake said yes, it was worth it and a great car. Long story short, Blake said I needed new tires, he took off Bf Goodrich tires and chose to replace with Ironman. He never flushed the gas tank and did not give a code breakdown of the lights lit on the dash or anything else. He said not to worry about the lights. Nor did he inform me that the driver's seat track was broken, and he knew because he had driven the car (on unacceptable tires he had installed-(and would not replace). Additionally, Blake said that none of the windows went down and would have to be diagnosed to find out the problem. At pickup time, I asked Blake what kind of gas I should use, he said regular is fine. Not true! The car takes premium. When I picked up the car, was the first time I had ever sat in my departed son's car. Blake actually drove the car more than I. I only drove the car about three miles to my house. He admitted to driving the on the highway. The bill was $2500.00, exceeding the value of the car. And lots more work is needed to make the car safe, work I did not find out about until the $2500.00 bill was paid, and as I sat in the car for the first time ever. That's when I was told about the broken driver's seat track, and to not to worry about the lights on the dash that I asked the meaning of. He did not mention-nor note the driver's side mirror needing replacement. Had Blake been decent and most of all, honorable, Blake would have said to consider selling, since repair costs would far exceed the value of the car. That was my reason for going to Precise, and what I asked them to find out. Was the car worth repairing? This is a service they claimed to provide. Honestly, I feel I was being setup to be milked over time. I am a grieving mother, over 70 years of age, who knows nothing about cars. It's plausible that long time associates and friends are treated differently at Precise; it clearly seems so based on close readings of reviews. But check all the reviews, especially other first timers, like mine. Those not in any special group, or timers, be cautious, very cautious if you don't want to be put in debt that, for me, could have been avoided. Heartbreaking outcome from a precisely underhanded company. At my expense, I am sure they all got a great laugh. Look at the condition of the tires Blake put on my car. All had shredded pieces of some kind of paper from who knows what, on the tread. I think the tires might have been used. Now on the hunt for a reputable Machanic. I went in for an oil change and asked them to look at my front passenger caliper. They told me it was completely locked out and that the driver side was close too, then quoted me $1200 for both calipers, bleeding the brakes, and an oil change. My calipers are $75 online, their price breakdown had each listed as $225. They wanted $360 for caliper labor and $190 to bleed the brakes. I was told over the phone (and in person) a mechanic check-up of the overall condition of my vehicle is free. No charge. Then they charged me $185 for the check-up, prior to approving any work. I decided not to argue, but to vote with my feet. Don't beleive Precise Auto when they tell you a check-up is free. I made my appointment reservation for a regular oil change about a week in advance. Once I came in, the process was super smooth and quick. The owner quickly took my car, did the oil change, topped up my fluids, rotated my tires, and did an inspection of many other points. The whole thing took about 40 minutes. I woke up to find a nail in my tire on Monday morning. I filled the tire with air and went to a local gas station to get the tire repaired. (Not Precise) I was told to leave the vehicle, as it would be a while before someone could get to it. I went to gas station number 2. I was told it would take at least 1 1/2 hours to fix the leak. (a ten minute job). I went to gas station number 3 and they were too busy to help at all. As I left the last station to go to Precise, I saw that my tire was losing air fast. I couldn't even make it! I had to pull over. I walked to Precision and asked if they had portable air, and I explained the flat issue. Someone filled up the portable container. He walked with me to the car and filled the tire. I took the car to Precise and they plugged the tire in 10 minutes. This is usually a $20+ dollar job. They didn't even charge me! You don't get this kind of service very often, so when it happens, we need to talk about it. Great job, nice people, great service. read more

Simply not good---their lack of knowledge is staggering ! I took in my 2011 Forester for a simple oil change---they came back with the kitchen sink---said oil leaks everywhere --needed the rear main seal fixed ($2200)--needed 2 axles---needed control arms etc etc until my "estimate was over $4700!! As it turns out my axle-seals were leaking and had made a mess underneath---I got it done at A&S Auto (right next door) for $200.00 and that was it. My car runs great with NO leaks and I will never EVER put these imbeciles in charge of anything automotive-related ! read more

Honestly, I have been coming here for years and they are honest with what needs to be repaired. Took my car in for a recall at Herson Honda in Rockville and they did a complimentary inspection to see what repairs were needed. They came up with $2,795 and said it needed 6 different items, but Precise Auto came up with $1,125 and 2 of the 6 to repair. Came here and they overcharged me for parts that were rusty when I checked them two weeks after getting my vehicle back. When I asked to see a quote before the car was done being touched, the receptionist told me "we have to make one." I told them to stop working on the vehicle till I saw some type of estimate or quote and they kept working on the car. These guys are great. I have been going to them for the last several years with Land Rover for simple and not so simple jobs. My grandfather, my dad and my step-father were all mechanics and previously owned auto shops, so I've been heavily exposed to the good, not so good and the terrible in the business. These guys, especially the owner and Ricky, are above and beyond terrific! When you first call they are prompt and flexible with you bringing your vehicle in. They are upfront and very competitive with pricing, call you if they come across something unexpected and are very helpful with helping you save (e.g. installing parts you bring, etc). Plus they do an excellent job and never over charge you. I recently went there for a starter issue, which turned out to be a neglected power drainer (I left a light on - my fault). They could have easily billed me for new battery/cables etc, but didn't charge me a cent despite all their diagnostic work. At the same time they detailed my car (it needed it badly). While doing that they fixed a number of unexpected issues such as cracking leather, two thousand pounds of dog hair, etc. This additional work ended up taking longer then expected. Not only did they not charge me more for the additional work, they picked me up and gave me a free loaner car to use while they finished the detail. I picked up the my car the next day and it was immaculate! Years of scrapes, cracks and kids cheerios wedged in the seats were all erased. When I got the bill I was shocked that is was unchanged from the initial quote. Considering all the additional labor, materials and loaner car (which they filled with gas for me) I was very very pleasantly surprised. Really above and beyond! Been busy so I'm just writing my review two weeks after I received service from Precise. I wish my (our) experience was as good as the other reviewers'. Brought in my 2004 Civic for oil change on May 16, 2014, used a Groupon deal for syntethic oil change but instructed the attendant to put regular oil. Fast forward to a week after getting my oil changed. My car started to smell like oil every time the AC is turned on. Being a busy mother who only knows how to drive a car but not mess with the engine, I had to wait to get it professionally checked. Turns out the cap for the oil was never placed back and the oil had leaked into my engine. It almost ran out of oil. Had that happened, who knows, my car would've stopped in the middle of 495! This was a safety issue especially for someone who drives with a 2 year old in the backseat who takes the highway every single day. Totally not going back. read more

This is my second trip to this location. The staff is very friendly and professional. My first trip they were running behind by a little bit of time which does happen to even the best of places, but my second time I arrived early and they were offering to start right away. It's an older building, but everything is very neat, well kept and organized. There is a nice waiting room with a TV, bathroom, and candy if you have a sweet tooth. I came here after buying a Groupon for an oil change for $17. The groupon scheduling system didn't work so I called Precise to schedule the appointment. I was able to get the day and time I wanted and the person on the phone was very friendly. When I arrived I was immediately greeted. Robbie was very friendly and attentive. The oil change only took about 45 minutes. There is e a waiting area inside where I was able to sit and read while my car was being serviced. I really like Precise because they didn't try to push other services on me like the larger chain stores usually do. Instead, he educated me on some things that I need to check for, which I greatly appreciated. I will definitely come back with or without a Groupon because the service was great. read more

I bought the Groupon for 3 oil changes. For each oil change, I scheduled an appointment, and each time my car sat for more than an hour before it was touched. Overbooking seems to be their business plan, so bring a book (or two). So I have now had my three oil changes and each time there are new mechanics and new staff. There seems to be quite a bit of turnover. The last time I was in the shop, I was uncomfortable because the owner was stomping around and scolding employees in front of customers. He is friendly toward customers but seems to be kind of snarky and disrespectful toward his workers. You could feel the stress in the air. read more

I was referred to Precise Auto for an alignment after I got new tires from Costco. The entire staff is warm and caring. They went through the approximate charges and amount of time it would take in advance, which I really appreciated. It took an hour to have my car's oil changed which is slower than normal. Just remember that if you buy an oil change from Groupon Precise Auto charges you an extra $10 for shop supplies which is bogus. However to be fair all the Groupon oil change offers follow the same scam of posting a low price and then tacking on extra fees when the work is completed. Even with the extra $10 the price is decent for a regular 10W30 oil change. read more

I brought my 96 Nissan Hardbody for a MD State inspection, my truck failed and they gave me a long list of defective parts and components. Now I work around cars in a different field but I do comprehend and understand all aspects of it. I understood at first why it failed, however I did take my truck elsewhere and it passed MD inspection and only some of the components NEEDED to be replaced. A much larger facility, been around longer, more reputable and of which know the Nissan Brand. They explained in detail everything I need to pass MD State Inspection. Hmmmm......They went down the list and showed me item by item.....Mind you it was a bit of work I got but it wasn't near to the high quote I got from Precise. I don't think different shops overlook MD State Standards??? They even suggested to take it elsewhere in Kensington to a shop who "would have maybe" passed it. I guess it's hard to find someone trustworthy. Safety is important I get that, but I got the truck running safely and never gave me any issues. I have since sold the truck and the new buyer has had no issues. Enough said. On a different note.......... I wanted to support the local K-Town Business but that fell through, I wish Phil would have been more involved in the matter, he would have maybe resolved this issue. Used a groupon for synthetic oil change. The online schedule system didn't work so I called and they made an appointment for me. When I showed up they took my car in almost immediately.
