Thanks to Aga S' review I learned about this "Milk Bar." This was one of the best lunches I had in Poland and it was very inexpensive. Thanks to Google I learned what it was -- communists answer to the cafeteria. Now communism has fallen in Poland but the Milk Bars remained. I was a bit concerned going in as it's a very local place and I don't speak Polish. There's a huge neon sign out front announcing Prasowy! Inside it's very light and airy - bar in the back (not booze just seating), white table with red & white checker boards painted on them, and window seats. Now the menu board is all in Polish. Yes I had the nerve to stare at it for a while to see if I understood anything besides pirogi. I did not. At the cashier they have an English translation of the menu items. Don't get your heart set on 1 item yet...sure they have a variety of food but not everything on the list is available at all time. Drinks are limited - sparkling water and what looked like cranberry juice. This is how is works- Order and pay at the counter Go to the first window and give them your receipt. Grab a tray, silverware, napkin while your food is being prepared. Once you've for your food go grab a seat. Eat and enjoy. The food - Me- pork ribs with mash potatoes and side salad. The ribs were fall off the bone tender in a rich sauce. The potatoes were a rustic mash no skins. The side salad was 2 versions of red cabbage-- one sweet/one spicy --LOVED IT! Cousin - pork loin with rice and side salad. Her quote - hearty, amazing value, best lunch!

    Sign above the main entrance.

This is a great place to grab a cheap, but delicious lunch. We paid around 8 euros (in PLN) for 2 full meals (main dish, salad, soda). The prices really are cheap here. There's an English menu on the door, so you can decide what you want to eat before going to the counter. The staff talked English pretty well and they were friendly and helpful. Pay at the counter, grab a tray and give your receipt to the lady who works there. You will get your food within a few minutes. Great, cheap place!

Our colleagues, translator and guide, was from Poland, but no Warsaw. So we happen upon Zapiecek, and we're not disappointed. It was an almost 11pm when we decided it was time to find some food on this work trip and first time to Poland. So I wanted something of local taste. So my colleague suggested the pierogi. Now forgive me for not remembering the fillings, or the sauce, but the memories of just enjoying the flavors is still with me that I tried to find similar taste here in the States and have not found a place yet. From what I remember the staff were friendly and the setting was quiet and comfortable. So I do have fond memories of dining at Zapiecek, and would go again. So enjoy...

First time having authentic fried pierogis - wow! I highly recommend ordering the 9 piece assortment of pierogis or dumplings. I enjoyed their version of beef stew (great for dipping the side of bread!). Affordable prices, very friendly and fast service. I loved the house red wine, it paired great with our meal. Walking distance to many popular and fun bars, lounges, restaurants, and more. A gem that we stumbled upon - highly recommend if you are in Warsaw!

The dim-lit ambiance, the dark wood accents and white tablecloth gives that formal yet cozy environment and with that, comes an exquisite menu that will leave you with a very pleasant and memorable experience. Reservations are highly recommended which I did have so check-in was a breeze. The waitress was very knowledgeable with the wine list and menu items which was extremely helpful when deciding among the various delicious sounding items on the menu. I heard that the Steak Tartare is a must here so I ordered that and to my delight, it's the best steak tartare I've had in all of Poland. It's prepared table-side from a very charismatic chef which added to the excitement and enjoyment of trying this tasty item. The Beef Wellington was also a delight. The buttery and slightly crisp puff pastry melts in your mouth along NG with the tender and juicy beef in which the demi-glace adds additional flavor to the already mouth-watering profile. Just pure gloriousness. The Bluefin Tuna was the final item I tried and the tender, fresh and scrumptious flavor of the tuna paired with the black truffle, avocado, artichoke and teriyaki sauce...so good. I unfortunately did not have enough room for dessert but wow I watched the items pass by me landing at other tables and I was so wanting to try one of them but not one single bite more of anything could've fit in my stomach. That's why there's always a next time :)
