Having visited the restaurant for years, celebrating all manner of things with my family, I can honestly say I consider it to be Paisley's best restaurant. The staff are attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and they make each experience - always a culinary delight - truly excellent. American and Italian influences are married beautifully; the latter being (thankfully) far more prominent leaving the former as an interesting accent. The resultant atmosphere is inviting, warm, relaxed and a pleasure to dine in. The lighting in the back is perfect and really makes Cardosi's a great place for a special occasion whilst the booths are somewhat secluded and provide for an intimate retreat in which to enjoy an afternoon or evening with good company. The menu has developed over the years but some signature dishes remain popular with my family; the simple Penne Alfredo is pasta perfection and the goats' cheese bruschetta (one of the four or so bruschettas offered) is divine. Presentation is thoughtful and consistent no matter which service you're enjoying; this is a testament to the kitchen staff as dinner can be exceptionally busy. Value is excellent, especially at lunchtime when two courses can be had for £9.50. Evening and pre-theatre are very well priced and do not overly restrict the diner. The à la carte options can be a little pricey but I have yet to be anything less than impressed by the choices therefrom. Recently there have been a couple of duck dishes on both the evening and à la carte menus which have been superbly executed. The Coppa Scozia, which raises the humble vanilla ice cream to dizzying gastronomic heights with the addition of crumbled Scottish tablet and hot caramel sauce, stands out from the dessert menu (but is equally matched by the rich and decadent cheesecake). Heralded by many as Paisley's go-to place for any special occasion, Cardosi's is unrivalled in the town and can hold its own against many of the reputable Glasgow restaurants. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, with a crowd or your significant other, you can be sure you'll be enjoying the very best that Paisley has to offer in quality dining.

It was my fist visit but apparently the Elliston Grill has been around for years and is popular with locals. When we phoned to book, we were offered a special menu. At first when we received the menu, we thought it was a typo, but nope it wasn't. £13.95 for 3 courses with optional charges (around £3 extra) for ordering the steak or cheese board. The menu was a steal - great food for the price. The goats cheese starter with honey, beetroot and walnuts was lovely. Really good goats cheese - with a good balance of salty and sweet flavours (not too much salt as with some types of goats cheese). I also tried the pate - this was a very generous portion and it was lovely too! Had a steak, cooked perfectly medium. Was a bit disappointed that the fish with puy lentils was off limits (not gluten free which was surprising) but other dinners who had this option thought it was very good. Very good generous portions so if you come hungry, you won't be disappointed! Typical range of desserts - creme brulee, chocolate cake, cheese board, ice cream which were good - most of us were pretty stuffed by then. Service was friendly but it was here it was a bit of a let down. The staff are all pretty young and friendly but may lack experience and might need someone with a bit more experience to manage the floor. There were two large tables (including ours) and other smaller ones, but there were times when no members of staff were on the floor and it took awhile for them to appear again. We had to constantly try and grab someone to reorder beers, soft drinks, etc for the non wine drinkers and this took awhile trying to find someone a few times when you would expect every now and again for someone to do a walk past to see if anything drink wise was needing replenished. They might have had an off night or been short staffed, who knows. As we had also been offered a set menu, created by the Elliston Grill, we were given a different one to what we had received (most people by then had already decided what they had wanted off the original menu) so we ended up reading the menu off phones so they could provide a copy of the menu that we had been sent. So, probably a 3.5 at the moment. If I go back, it would be back with a smaller group as if you are hosting then you are conscious if you have guests lacking drinks and that does affect your enjoyment. But the food is good :-)

Anyway I digress this review is about a sit down lunch I had with three of my colleagues. The restaurant owns two units in a long line (literal meaning here) of retail and business fronts. It is a fairly spacious place but some of the tables looked a wee bit tight, like they recently accommodated a big table. Fortunately we weren't sat at any of these. We were given a table sat right beside the open door, however, it was a very warm day (balmy highs of 21) and the breeze was pleasant. We ordered off the lunch time menu which is about £6.00 depending on what you have. All in 4 of us with two waters and two fizzy drinks were £7.00 a head 10% tip included. Prawn crackers were put on the table before drinks were orders but after the menus had been handed to us. My starter was chicken noodle soup which was delicious. I often have this without feeling the need to season it, however, this time I used lots of pepper and soya sauce. It's a nice way to eat it once in a while. My choice of main was chicken curry and boiled rice. I cannot complement the curry in here enough, it is so good I have boiled rice to appreciate the curry more. I think in terms of a Chinese curry it is perfect. Spicy but not overly so, and just a great combination of chicken onions and the occasional pea. The consistency of this dish is also great, I've eaten it many times and can't remember feeling dissatisfied with it. Desert was a banana fritter which was nice if a bit overindulgent for lunch on a work day. However, if you don't have it the cost is the same. All in all friendly atmosphere and a great lunch. It isn't a showy as other Chinese or oriental restaurants, even at dinner time, but for great food it is hard to beat and I know I'll be back in a heartbeat.

It is decorated in red and white tiling and looks very clean and fresh. The fish suppers in Andy's in my opinion are the best in the area (and there are quite a few around). Fish is fluffy and fresh with nice crispy batter and the chips are perfect. They also do a great range of fantastic oven baked pizzas. If you phone ahead they will have one ready and waiting for you to pick up. Prices are reasonable, especially in the sit-in which doesn't cost much more than the takeaway. Highly recommended for the perfect fish supper!
