HVP features a 0.4 mile, mostly shaded, mostly level, well-maintained trail winding beside Tomahawk Creek with one bridge and an open 14 acre multi-use area. The bird calls were plentiful and the sounds of traffic disappeared - nice. The park does not offer parking, but parking was available at nearby I-Lan Park. Overall, very nice!

Parking is found on the street in the neighborhood parallel to the entrance that seems almost hidden. But of the park, this one is charming to say the least. It's got a wonderful little gazebo, there's so much unique things to do at this park that I rate it in the top three. It has a bridge complete with waterfall, it's a stone's throw from Amesbury lake which is great for bass fishing and bluegill when it's not entangled by a blue-green algae bloom. And it's perfectly adjacent to one of the best biking pathways and walking pathways in the entirety of Johnson county. It's always well kempt, and they're always seems to be a wonderful cadre of children to entertain your own little scamps. They just redid the floor of the play area with wood chips, which I'm not entirely in love with. It's a little rough, but someone somewhere must have signed off on it that knew more about building playgrounds than I. Whomever built this playground knew what they were doing because it's wonderfully designed. Many a day I've walked a considerable distance with my kid to this playground, and it's always so peaceful. Though in the winter months, this heavily shaded playground in the wood can be chilly. Summer however, the shade is a welcome attraction. You almost have to climb down into this playground because it's nestled deeply into wooded areas. But, top three I'd say. Play on.

The nine feet wide path winds along a creek with trees on the south, which provide shade. Portions of the trail also go through wooded areas. I noticed several residential access paths with nearby parking. Areas of the park away from Quivira Rd offered a quiet respite with only the sounds of summer cicadas and birds. Very nice.

One imagines it was built to accomodate the Baby Boom. What remains is the small parking lot. The rectangular structure's classrooms faced along Tomahawk Road. Check out a satellite shot of the site - the building's footprint is where the grass is browner. No trees? That's the former playground out back. The space has better karma as a somewhat boring dog run with a single picnic table.

A 66 acre park, everything you can imagine is here. Many different trails, LOTS of open fields, 2 or 3 different play grounds for kids, a water park area with pools and slides, soccer fields and many soccer goals, 2 basketball courts, pickleball, tennis, you name it they probably have it. Extremely well taken care of and felt very safe walking around at dusk even on the trails with just my dog. The dog parks were HUGE, and everything was very clean and NEW. Just a beautiful area we were happy to have stumbled upon by accident. Great if you're roadtripping and need to get some exercise or wear out your kids and dog!

I rode my bike out here on one of the warmest days of the spring and it's always a nice destination. There are tons of trails connecting through it that are best suited for walkers/joggers. Cyclists can ride on them, but they're twisty and full of people, so I'd recommend sticking to the roads more than these on the bike. There are soccer fields, a dog park (with it's own Yelp page), a pool, and it's right in the middle of Leawood and easily accessible off 435. Really glad the city had the foresight to design such a big amenity for Johnson County. If you're a dog owner, there are portions where you can get down to the creek if your doggo needs a quick swim. Granted there are leash laws, but if you have a dog that you can recall well, I say go for it. It's really a nice park overall and perfect for those needing a dosage of sunshine and nature right now.

No dedicated parking was available, but I easily found parking near one of the residential access trailheads. This is an excellent neighborhood park. It makes me wish I had one just like it closer to my house.

There are tons…read moreof climbing structures of all types--rock walls, ladders, steps, and lots of other anxiety-inducing things for parents and great fun for kids! My favorite parts of this park are the outdoor xylophones and musical wall with rubber mallets attached. The acoustics are very addictive. My 3-year-old granddaughter also loved the rope bridge, the swings, including a large round one, and the merry-go-round. We also got to play many games in the mock caves, which were complete with cave drawings.
