My dog has been receiving services from Prairie Dog for a little over 2 years. First, she attended the puppy program with Sydney in June of 2023. If this rating was based on the training she received ALONE and Sydney, I would give it 5 stars. Sydney is knowledgeable and did a great job. However, training is the only service I would receive from Prairie Dog. My dog went to daycare at another facility that closed in December 2023, so I was in the market for another facility. My dog had gone to daycare since she was 9 weeks old and never had any issues. When I transferred to Prairie Dog, they required a 3 hour trial, a half day trial, and a full day trial before you could actually start daycare. My dog did a few of the 3 hour trials and the staff continued to say that she wasn't ready for daycare. I felt that this was a money grab to get me to keep coming in but not allow me full days of daycare, so I stopped daycare. I took my dog for a groom in April of 2025. I pulled in to the parking lot and she absolutely refused to go in the building. She was shaking like a leaf and wanted nothing to do with going inside. I was hoping it was just a one-off, and I rescheduled my appointment. The next time, same thing. Completely refused to go inside. My dog is not an anxious dog. Like I said, she's been in daycare since she was 9 weeks, has been to training, and I take her everywhere to include heavily populated places with people and dogs and this has NEVER been an issue. I can only presume that something bad happened at some point at Prairie Dog causing her to react like this. In August of 2025, I was in a bit of a pinch with no one to watch my dog while I was gone for a weekend. Despite my better judgement, I booked at Prairie Dog. They quoted me $50 a night, and a $20 late pickup fee if you pick up after 12pm on your pickup day. I drop her off, same thing. She absolutely hated going inside the building. She was shaking and cried when I left. It was heartbreaking. When I picked her up, there was a collar that wasn't hers in her belongings. I told staff this wasn't our collar, they said it's fine just keep it. When I got my invoice for daycare, I saw that I had been charged $10 for the collar. No one told me that I had brought the wrong collar to boarding or that they had to charge me $10 for one that was within their policy. I was fine paying the $10, but I just wish staff would've told me I brought the wrong collar and explain the up charge. I felt, again, as though this was a money grab. Labor Day weekend was the final straw for me. I was flying out of state for a vacation and needed my dog boarded again. I booked for Friday, August 29th until Wednesday, September 3rd, with a late pickup. I called and asked for a quote, and they quoted me $270. I said go ahead and book it. I check my bank account, and I realized I had been charged $50. I assumed it was a deposit of some sort, but again, staff never told me there would be a $50 deposit, and I didn't have to pay a $50 deposit the last time I boarded. So I called, they confirmed it was a deposit for the holiday weekend. I asked if the $50 would come out of the total price, and they said yes. (If you are keeping up with the math, that would mean I owe $220 upon pickup.) I pre-package all of my dogs food and pack the collar that they charged me $10 for and off she goes. She was a little anxious again, but not as bad as the last time so I was hopeful. When I picked her up on Wednesday, they said my total was $250. I explained that I had been quoted $270 and that I had already paid a $50 deposit. Staff said we charge an additional $10 a night over holidays when we are closed. I said that is totally fine, I just wish someone would have explained that to me. (I explained my previous two instances about the $10 collar and the $50 deposit where I was charged and that was not explained and now this was the third time I was being charged and it wasn't explained.) This staff member was understanding and took off the $30 a night because I was quoted wrong, but then said I should go to their website to see all of their policies and procedures. Totally fine doing that, but I shouldn't have to go to your website to ensure your staff are telling me the right thing. Finally, when I get my dog's stuff back from her Labor Day board, all of her food has been packaged in different bags with different handwriting. I had no idea if my dog had eaten the proper amount of food or if this was even the same dog food I sent her with. Additionally, there was a bag of food in with my belongings that said "Callahan." My dog's name is NOT Callahan. AND the $10 collar that they forced me to pay for? That wasn't in her belongings. I assume they took it back and used it with some other dog and charged their owner for. Overall, I am very upset at my experiences and will not be returning for grooming, daycare, or boarding. We were coming to Fargo from Mandan to take care of our granddaughter didn't want to kennel our dog for 3-4 nights at home. After reading several reviews, I called and sent all the vet paperwork online. Easy Peasy! Her stay there was excellent, she did't smell, and was a happy dog! As a former dog daycare manager of 10yrs back in California, I can honestly say...We love Prairie Dog and can't say enough good things about them. They're not only a great dog daycare and boarding facility but they go above and beyond and truly love the dogs, the clients and their job! We have been clients for over a year and have always had the best experiences. We have done daycare, boarding and grooming. The staff is amazing and super knowledgeable, some of the staff have veterinary experience as well! David being a Dane, they are always on top of monitoring him before, during and after feedings. The groomers are great too! They're always so patient with our crazy pups and always do a great job! Our pups are always so excited to go, they always have so much fun and come home happy and tired! The staff post pictures throughout the day on social media too (we love seeing the fun our psychos are having and their friends too!) The staff also do adorable crafts with the dogs for different pawlidays...dad got these cozies with their paw print on them for Father's Day! We have boarded our dog twice...once at Home Away from Home (HAFH) and the second time at Prairie Dog. I will say that I will be a return client at Prairie Dog. We were highly were impressed with the cleanliness of the bldg and attentiveness of the staff. They greeted our dog, and labeled his items. I liked that we could bring in a toy or blanket for his comfort (which wasn't allowed at other boarding places). I felt that the staff culture was more cohesive and knowledgeable at Prairie Dog and they were more than happy to give me a tour of the facility (unlike at HAFH they did not want to give me a tour and had to call the manager). I loved that at the end of his board we got a report on how he was, his behavior, how he ate, etc. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Horrible customer service. Brought dog in for a nail clipping and nothing was even done (or very, very, very little). Took ~4 minutes to clip all this nails (really???), but charged extra because he was squirmy - not aggressive at all (by manager's words), just squirmy. So actually got charged extra for that, but wasn't told in advance. Requested a refund next day - nope. Had to bring him back for a re-do. Brought him back next day and again stated my frustration that they didn't do anything (or hardly, as he still click, click, clicked on our floor, slid just as much as he did before) and was told, "I know it was fast, but he was squirmy so we did what we could", but ok to charge full price and actually extra. Holy cow! I said I wasn't satisfied with that excuse (if you couldn't do it, just bring him back and I'll go elsewhere) so I wouldn't be a return customer after they re-did his nails and that was it....... the manager said "well we're definitely not interested in re-doing his nails now". We won't be offering any type of resolution anymore. Wow. Never experienced anything like that. Horrible experience/service in my opinion. read more

My boyfriend and I boarded our 9 month old lab mix dog Diablo for the first time January 23rd through January 27th. We brought his treats and PRE PORTIONED dog food and left notes on the bags of what they needed to do (per what the website suggested) we also brought him a blanket a toy and his bed. We dropped him off 1 hour earlier than when they were open because my lack of research on their open times on the weekend but the young lady at the front desk greeted us and took Diablo no problem (thank you so much for that and I'm sorry I was that person!). Saturday Diablo went right into the play room where several dogs were eager to greet him and he went to play right away ( we knew he would have no problem and immediately he didn't even know we were there anymore nor did he care haha), the ladies took his stuff and off we went! We picked Diablo up Friday January 27th right when they opened at 7am because we missed our pooch so much! Kelly was at the front desk this time and said our 50lb diablo was her lap dog pretty much every morning (he is such a lover!), That right there tells me they actually spend time with the dogs and give them a little one on one time , what a spoiled dog. She went over some more specials they were going to be running Etc. they also per my request gave him a departure bath the day before and he smelled so good when we got him! He's only had one previous bath from a professional groomer and id say I'm happier with this wash because he doesn't seem to have dandruff and his tooshy isn't itchy like the last place we went to and I got very concerned. There were no sores on him or areas of concern per Melissa's review, the bags we provided with food came back empty which states to me he was fed just right. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because he came home with a bit of diarrhea which could be a combination of things like: new environment nervousness or maybe they fed him other treats than what we gave to them to treat him etc. I didn't specify about the treats either and I'm not blaming anyone. Next time we board our dog I know to be more specific with food or treats that's also what they want! For you to be specific on what your dog needs and what they can do to keep him in the routine you have for him or her. All in all I would bring my dog back here in a heart beat! Do NOT take your dog here. I read some bad reviews and thought people were being a little dramatic. NOPE. I brought my dog here for a trim. She was incredibly fluffy and adorable. She had a few mats on her belly which I obviously ok'd to be shaved. Came back to my whole dog being shaved. And on top of that it was choppy. Not even nicely shaved. I went from a cute goldendoodle to what looks like a rat. I paid $80 for something I could have done at home. read more

I took my dog there for grooming. Everyone was very friendly when we arrived. The groomer had never met a Norwich terrier before but felt confident that she good give him an appropriate grooming. While I was there we got o n line and looked at many norwichs so she would know what to do. When I went to pick him up, I did not recognize him and did not think he was my dog. He does not look like a Norwich. His coat has been totally destroyed by the way it was clipped short. A Norwich has a rough coat which was cut off. I cannot say anything positive about how he was groomed because there is nothing positive to say. I was asked if I wanted to talk to the groomer and I declined because I was so overwhelmed. I did call when I got home but it did not do any good and I am not sure the groomer will get the message. Clearly customer satisfaction was not a big concern. Do not take your dog to be groomed there!! I am so upset that I took mine. read more

We just moved into the south fargo area, so I decided to check this place out. To say I was not impressed is an understaement: 1. The place was filthy, there was a poop pile right next to the front door and at least 2 pee spots right in the entry way. Not to mention the numerous "acciednts" covering the floors in the playrooms. Do they ever take these dogs out? I understand dogs having accidents and marking their territory, but this was just unsanitary! 2. There was a tan poodle whimpering up behind the front desk with no one attending to it with a strong odor coming from it's kennel. I don't know how long the dog had been there, but it was obvious it hadn't been out in quite some time. Aside from that the dog could have easily been taken or ran out the front door as there was no staff present watching the dog. 3. Where is the staff!? I was waiting in the lobby area for at least 10 minutes and didn't see a single person. Nobody ever came to help me, nor was anyone supervising the dogs. I even yelled into the back hallway, but nothing. There are two playrooms visable from the front lobby, each had at least 7 dogs in them and not once in 10 minutes did I see anybody check on these dogs. That's just irresponsible and DANGEROUS. You never know when a fight could break out, or a dog could choke on something, seems like common sense to have a staff member supervising each room at all times. After reading the numerous other poor Yelp reviews of this business, I can't say I'm surprised at what I saw. Glad I at least stubled upon this, before booking an appointment. read more

I have boarded my dogs here a few times. The staff is ALWAYS unfriendly. They have lost my dog's belongings and gave me someone elses. When I called to notify them they said it was "No big deal". The last time I boarded there, they returned my dogs and their blankets soaked with urine. They also dropped my dogs leash in their clean up bucket. Not impressed with this place. We brought our dog there on three separate occasions. The first instance the groomer did not listen to what we wanted and the owner blamed it on a miscommunication. The second instance the cut was better, but the upgraded nail trim was hardly done on some of the nails and was corrected. The third instance, the cut was uneven in several portions of the body. I called to see if they could please fix the spots and the manager stated that they couldn't get us in until two days later. No apology, or ownership for their mistake. She stated that no one ever complained before and by looking at the reviews I can see that's not accurate. The owner does not have an understanding of how customer service should work. Also, when people address their issues she is very defensive and quick to react. If you plan on trying them out I recommend providing them with a photo of how you want your pet groomed and put it in writing so they aren't confused! read more

I brought my dog in for their $5 nail trim and when I first walked in I realized how clean the facility was and how well taken care of the dogs were. The workers were very nice and attentive, but as soon as I talked to the older blonde lady behind the front desk, I discovered she was the owner of the business. I have never met someone so uneducated and incapable of running a business, let alone a business that has dogs that depend on this woman to take care of them. After talking to her I politely came up with an excuse as to why I needed to leave, so I could get out of the building as fast as possible. read more

This facility should absolutely NOT be trusted with ANY dog. We had several discussions with the staff regarding our dog's desire to eat non-food items. We told them numerous times that he can not be left unattended with anything that he could consume (blankets, ropes, toys, etc.). On two separate occasions, our dog's life was put in jeopardy when the staff and the facility owner completely neglected to supervise our dog. On one occasion a BLANKET was actually put in his kennel when he went to sleep at night. He was lethargic and had no appetite when we picked him up. He didn't resume normal activities until the next day when he passed a giant clump of fleece blanket! They told us they, "didn't know" and that it's "standard practice" to put blankets in all of the kennels. Most recently, we picked up our dog from daycare and during the drive home, he vomited in the back seat. After sorting through the material, we determined that he had been unsupervised long enough to EAT THE WALL. My husband returned to the facility and was simply told that, "they didn't know" and that "they watch them all the time." We have managed to keep our dog from consuming foreign objects while in our home just fine- I simply cannot comprehend why the staff, that I am paying, cannot guarantee the same. I wouldn't recommend that ANYONE. Stay away!!!! read more

Horrible, horrible service! The first and second visit, they underfed and overfed my dog twice the amount he was supposed to receive all because they do not know how to read a measuring cup. This past visit was only due to an emergency and that every other place was booked due to the Bison game in Frisco. After I picked up my 7 month old Great Dane, he went directly to bed and did not move until the next day. I called and spoke to the owner, Kelly Norton, who stated that they played my dog very hard. Her exact words were, " It would be like if you never ran and then all of a sudden ran a marathon. We play all the dogs until their tired". This would be fine and dandy; however, I have a GIANT BREED PUPPY who not only got a skin infection from their bathing services, (Yes, the underbelly of my dog had sores and the sheath of his penis had green discharge), his ankle joints were swollen 5x the normal size. After a $700 vet bill, my dog Ollie, still has to go in to the vet in another two weeks to see if his medication worked and how much bone damage there is on both ulnas. The staff is incompetent and obviously has no clue on how to care for special breed dogs. Anyone who has a pet, avoid this place!!!! Their stupidity is overwhelming and the result of their incapabilities of caring for animals could be quite detrimental to your pet. read more

I've taken my pup to other daycares before, he's stayed with a friend that has a dog, and has been around dogs many times before with no issues. I took him to daycare and asked how he did to find out they had him kenneled basically all day because he doesn't get along with the other dogs. This has never happened anywhere but here. I also had them give him a bath and paid $15 for them to not clean his face, he still has gunk in both eyes! Not a fan!! read more

Absolutely love this place. They have a 7$ playtime thing, where you drop your dog off at anytime for three hours! It's the only place in town I'll take Ghost. I know they actually play with them and get to know them because whenever we get out of the car he drags me to their door!! Also love that the dogs get to play the whole time and don't just lay in a kennel all day like typical boarding. He never comes back stinky, always exactly the same as I dropped him off. Never had a single issue. They were even awesome about free feeding him for the four days I boarded him. NO ONE does that. Other places usually just feed them once or twice a day what they think they should get because it's easier. This place also has a hidden little fenced in dog park in the back that they take them to potty in. 5 stars!!!! read more

Walked in to find a dog being smacked and sworn at by the groomer. She was yelling at the dog for peeing on himself. After my dog got home he was being extremely off. He has never reacted like this after a grooming at other places. If you have a dog sensitive to yelling or maybe a dog that needs a little extra patience, I'd advise against bringing him here. read more

We have brought our two small dogs in for nail clippings multiple times over the last two years. We have received nothing but great service from all of the girls working. But this last time we went in it was just terrible. The owner ended up helping us and she seemed to have no understanding of how to approach a scared dog. Her quick actions scared them and she started yelling at him rather than asking me for help with him until I intervened. She then used a soft muzzle on him during the nail clipping. She also said our other dog (who has never purposefully bitten anyone ever) tried to bite her so she almost had to use a muzzle. Neither of them have had any issues with the employees the other times we came in. We will not be taking them back because she made us and our pets uncomfortable. read more

This was by far the worst experience in dog care that I have ever encountered. My son and I toured the facility prior to scheduling the boarding. We told them our dogs were very timid and had not been previously boarded at a kennel. They showed us a room that had couches and chairs where we were told the less social dogs could relax and spend time. I called and spoke to the owner prior to my scheduled boarding. I again told her my dog was very timid and had not previously been to a kennel. She reassured me that they cared for all types of canine personalities and would make sure he was comfortable. She told me he sounded like one of the dogs that would be allowed in an area by the desk to sit on a lap or be separated from the dog groups. Although they would share a kennel my son specifically indicated that his dog would need to be fed separately. Their website indicates you are welcome to bring along your dog's favorite toys and treats as well as bedding from home with familiar smells. We dropped our dogs off along with their food, bed, treats and chew toys on Friday. I called Saturday to see how they were doing. I was told that they were being kept in the kennel because they seemed scared. She told me my son's dog was walking around in the kennel and my dog was "resting" inside his crate. She wasn't sure but she assumed if there was a problem that the owner would have called me. We stopped Sunday afternoon to pick up our dogs. I asked how they did and the young lady said not that good. She told us the opposite - that my dog just curled up in his bed and that my son's dog wouldn't come out of the crate. When they brought my dog out he was terrified and smelled badly of urine. His bed smelled of urine. They said my son's dog didn't want to come out because she was too scared. We carried her out of the kennel in her crate. The kennel floor was covered in dog food. They returned the food containers and when I asked for the rest of the items they told me that was all I had brought. I described the bag that they had labeled which contained the treats and the chew toys. After a third trip to the back they came up with the bag. She said they had so many dogs that weekend that everyone's stuff just got thrown together. No treats and no toys. I am very upset that my dogs were subjected to this kind of treatment. read more
