This is a nice place to rent a boat for the day. When we arrived, we did have to wait in line for a bit, but it wasn't a big deal to us. For the most part, we enjoyed the boat ride and had a fun day. Came here to paddle board. It was $5 at the gate for a day pass. No cash. It was easy to get the boards in the water and had plenty of room to navigate around the coves. There is a beach to swim and a sand volleyball court here too. read more

This was a great place for us to rent a boat while camping at Prairie Creek camp ground during Fathers Day! It was super busy but that is to be expected during a holiday weekend like Fathers day! The ladies at the front desk kept things moving and worked hard to make sure we were ready for the lake! There are so many fun things in the shop so take a sec to browse! The boat was perfect for our family of 6 and we enjoyed a full day in beaver lake! Take my advice and book early ;-), the fill up quick! Also the marina is a hop, skip and jump from the campground and you will want to drive however the boat ramp is an easy walk from the camp ground so you can always do a quick stop if needing to access you camper or family quickly. read more

We've had our pontoon at Prairie Creek for several years now. In that time they've constructed more docks, made some changes to the parking area to allow for more parking, and installed bathrooms that don't require hiking out of the marina to access. The employees are always super friendly as well, but our best experience was definitely earlier this week. We got out there and realized we had neglected to bring a life jacket for our four year old. We stopped by the marina for fuel and also in hopes they had a kids' life vest we could purchase. They did us one better though - instead of cashing in on our forgetfulness, they offered to loan us a life jacket for the day. Very cool. Unless we move to a place where keeping the boat on Beaver no longer makes sense, our humble pontoon will always be at Prairie Creek! read more

Came here earlier today to check it out (recently moved to the Northwest AR region). A day use pass is $4. We decided to buy a year pass to the CORPS parks (which includes a ton of parks). http://www.arkansas.com/outdoors/camping/corps/ A year pass was only $30. We drove down to the picnic/beach area. It had two playground areas that I could see. One was just swings and the other was a playground (slides, etc.). There were plenty of picnic tables and BBQ's. There is a designated "beach" area that is sandy. This time of year - July - the water was pretty warm and clear. We did not swim in the water - next time we will. We went on a Saturday in the morning time and it was not very crowded, but it seemed to start to fill up faster as it approached noon. Fun area to come with family and friends and enjoy some food and the lake on a hot summer day! read more

Rather the opposite of War Eagle Marina (http://goo.gl/z9BS) since the water up here is beautiful, but the people seem to have a hard time showing any personality. That is not to say they were unpleasant, just not very personable. For a much steeper price, you can dock your boat here rather than closer to the mouth of the river, where the water is dirtier. The trade off is that you save a lot of money on gas. The water in this area is great for wakeboarding, although on the weekends, it can get a bit crowded. read more

We reserved a boat for a day on the lake this past weekend. When we arrived for the rental we asked about lines and an anchor for when we stopped to swim. We were initially told there weren't any and to just stay close to the boat when swimming. They eventually gave us one and told us what it would cost if we lost it. They seemed more concerned about warning us about all the things we weren't allowed to do with the boat than answering some of our questions. A few hours into our day we wanted to cool off in the water. First issue we encountered was the depth finder was not accurate. The bigger problem was the lower part of the swim ladder was missing! So that made it impossible to get back in the boat If we were in the lake. The only step on the part of the ladder that was there was above the water line. When we brought the boat back we told them how unhappy we were about not having the ladder and not being able to swim. They didn't seem surprised when we told them about the ladder which means they rented us the boat already knowing that it was nonfunctional and knowing we planned to go swimming. They comped our fuel to make up for it, but the whole thing felt really dishonest to us. For anyone who wants to be able to swim, do not rent boat number 10. read more

All five of us agreed this is the most well-built marina we've ever visited. And Manager Mike Holycross and Patty treated us like family...and we may be soon, because we put our names on an understandable waiting- list for an annual boat-slip. There's no better part of the lake to catch a variety of lunkers, and no commercial dock closer to all of the hotels, bistros, shops and services you will need for a day, week or year in NW Arkansas. Although we were new to the area and really missing the beaches in California, we were surprised to see how much we enjoyed the Prairie Creek area. There is a small beach area and close parking nearby. We had a picnic before we got in the water and enjoyed the park benches. Great place to visit if you live here or are visiting. read more
