The account for Midland was supposed…read moreto be closed but somehow wasn't (not their fault), so I went into the Belvidere branch and spoke with a nice lady who said she would make sure the account was closed and she would take care of the $3 overdraft fee. She even took the paperwork I had with me and reassured me it would be taken care of. I asked if I needed to pay the fee and she reassured me she would handle it. Now a week later I am getting notified that the account is still open and the overdraft fee has went up to $39. I tried calling their call center and they were no help. They kept asking for my personal information over and over again, which after being asked the third time I was just done. Would not recommend a bank that does not follow through and is no help with their call centers. I guess now on my time off I will need to again drive the 30 minutes to the bank to try and get this taken care of again.

After considering hiding my money in a tin box out by the big silver maple tree, I took a friend's suggestion and opened an account with Golden Eagle. And I have not looked back. You are treated like a human being. The folks are professional-- and when I made an EPIC error in transferring funds to where I ruined my checking balance, they helped me out to where I was "In the Black" again. After we felt everything had cleared and went to close it, they wouldn't reverse the service charges. They should have never charged the fees from the beginning. When I needed to pull some out, I was told I had to close the entire account. Now this wasn't so bad. He told me it should only take a few days to have my check from the investment. I am on week three right now and can't get a straight answer on where my money is. The advisor who help me set it up apparently only works like 2 days out the week. I called the investment company to get answers and was told it should only take a few days to a week to have everything taken care of. Nobody at 5/3rd knows where my money is or why its taken this long. All I know is im never doing anything with this bank again. I'd rather trust my money to a monkey. I honestly feel like I've been robbed, lied to, tricked, and betrayed.
