Well, maybe it is just something strange with Dusseldorf, even though the two bigger cities that I visited didn't anywhere near as many Irish pubs as did Dusseldorf. Well, maybe it has something to do with the lack of things to do in Dusseldorf so everybody goes out to the pubs. Anyway, this is another nice Irish pub, but since I have already visited our others, it was difficult to distinguish it from the others. Personally I liked it, but that had something to do with it being quiet.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, almost like being at home with old friends drinking a few pints. I ordered a Guiness and the boo had an Alt and they were as delicious as expected. My Guiness was poured to perfection and the owner jokingly made sure I waited until it peaked perfection before sipping (sooo freakin darling). Julio's is a great spot if you're looking for something fun and local. If you want upscale this is not the place for you. Great service and great drinks, totally worth checking out!

The Christmas Market time in Germany is super busy and especially on Friday - Sunday. Schumacher alt is the oldest brewery in Düsseldorf. Established in 1838. Thankfully they have modern and clean restrooms to evacuate all the beer drank there. The ambiance of the place is a lively beer hall. There are picnic tables and banquettes of various sizes. The wait staff are intentionally a little rude. Part of their stick. The beers keep coming until you say stop. You get the house brew in 10 oz. glasses. The waiter makes a mark on a coaster each time he brings a round. When you have had enough be sure to put a coaster on top of your glass, or the beer will keep coming. The food menu is large and only in German. It is a good time to use the photo translation feature on your phone. The food was very good and a LOT! Anyway, this was the first I visited and the welcome that I received was so warm that I came back three more times (though I have to admit that the later experiences where anywhere near as good as the first - I guess it is the law of diminishing returns, and the bar staff didn't seem all that interested in a friendly chat). Still, considering that there are six other pubs, this once certainly did stick out from the crowd, even if only for the first impression I received.
