We went in to escape the heat and were immediately greeted by a very cheerful staff member. We had a good conversation with her and she was very helpful. Before I start this review because I want to be totally clear: The Pump House is where you go when…read moreyou want to have an artistic/visually impressive wedding, reception, or event. If you are looking at practicality or cost? There are many other local, cheaper venues with superior parking and capacity. The Pump House, while not difficult to find, is in the middle of nowhere. The wedding reception I attended here was during the winter and had some unique challenges. The driveway needs attention and a few tons of stone, I would not want to drive on it after a rainstorm. Parking here if it has snowed can be challenging due to lack of space and ice, with the ice also a potential risk when walking to the buildings. Cellphone coverage with Verizon was spotty at best. The reception was split between the Studio Hall and Brick Barn. Studio Hall served as the cocktail and buffet space. During normal operations, this serves at the breakfast part of the B&B. Due to the pandemic, all food had to be served by the catering staff. The bride recommends working with vendors who are familiar with the uniqueness of the venue. The Brick Barn served as the main reception area. Setting up, it didn't look all that impressive, and it would have been nice to have one of the heaters on due to the cold. The owners were very helpful with setting up the tables and chairs, saving the wedding party significant time. Day of the wedding reception it looked very picturesque, the venues selling point. The sidewalks around the venue need improvement as they are not well defined and crumbling. It would also clarify the walking paths between the buildings in the winter. The number of bathrooms for the venue was surprisingly adequate. I visited The Manifold House when moving some boxes around, which serves as the honeymoon suite, and I would describe it's styling as "unique." The wedding reception had a limit of 75 people and that seemed to be the right number when not using the venues outdoor spaces. Overall, if you are looking for an artistic/visually impressive venue, The Pump House is for you. The bride got the exact reception she wanted, which made her happy, and that's what mattered.

Came here for a wedding, they rented out the whole property and all the rooms. It was my first…read moretime in a B&B, it was really nice and rustic and away from any kind of city or civilization. The cellular service was spotty at best and the Wifi was okay but not fast enough to stream video, which was fine. It was really nice to unplug from the world and relax. There is a real life condition on the rise caused by the advancement of cell phone technology called text neck. Where people get an early onset of arthritis by looking down and texting or reading for long periods of time. We could all use a little time out from texting and smart phones. Some of the structures were built in 1908 and there is an old pump house (hence the name), which back in the day required one every 50 miles along the oil pipe line in order to pump oil across the country. This pump house is one of the few remaining today. There is the actual pump house and also what looks like a large water tank but that large tank is what housed the oil along the pipeline. Doug the owner is a really nice guy and helped moving palates of chairs around with his tractor when were setting up for the wedding. The food was also excellent! Some of the peppers came from his garden on the property. Its the little touches like a small sprinkle of feta cheese on the eggs. And to be honest, the BEST french toast ive ever had! I don't usually order french toast because its usually a let down, but this was phenomenal! I forget the details of it all but it was a true restaurant quality dish; Cinnamon, sugar, and other things that i can't remember (sorry i forgot my camera that morning) The property is pretty large and has a few buildings, lots of trees and even a river running along the back which we took a dip in, it was cold but refreshing and shallow enough (shin high) were you could sit in and be comfortable and cool off. There were some bugs too but you should expect that if you're in the middle of the woods and next to water. I liked the outdoor breakfast area on Doug's back porch, it had lots of charm with the vines growing up the lattices and plants all around. Very nice and relaxing. It was just really nice to unplug from the world, relax and get back to nature and talk to people face to face instead of texting someone in the next room.
