This is my second year sending my children to SFR. One is in kindergarten and the other is in TK…read more I'm happy to say they both love their teachers and all the fun school activities. I'm very impressed by the hardworking teachers and hardworking staff. My first impression of the school was the welcoming greeting of the schools administrator/ secretary Mrs Fitzgerald. She answered all my questions and made me feel that this was the right decision for my children's education. I like it so much that I volunteer two days of the week in my daughter classroom. My husband and I feel just as strongly about our children religious education as we do about their academic education. We feel SFR meets both these high standards most assuredly. The principal Mrs Mendez has a noticeable leadership quality that makes me want to be part of the SFR Families that truly care about this school.

However, because of logistical reasons and because of a close friend (Jeannette) who recommended SFR, we decided to send our youngest child Noah. Noah just completed TK and I have to say that our experience has been an overwhelming positive experience and a blessing to our family. The teachers, parent involvement and the curriculum have prepared our son for first grade. We look forward to growing our faith and our child's education in the years to come. My mom gave me permission to write this interview to speak about what actually happened at this…read moreschool when I attended. First off, if your child is disabled and or has an IEP, please do NOT send them here. The teachers don't even follow the lEP or the child's basic needs for the majority. I remember clearly needing help with opening my food and drinks at lunch and snack breaks. There was always some lunch lady on duty to help with whatever was needed. I had a very hard time opening the milk cartons and always needed help with them. I remember this one time I asked a teachers aid to help me and she said "no I want you to try to open it yourself this time" I shrugged it off figuring she was right at that time. But soon she calls another aid over and they literally stand over watching me struggle to open it. Of course I eventually got pretty mad and she finally opened it after what seemed like a century. Second, the bullying. I was always a major target for any bully at this school. What is so funny about this is how the school always talked about a "no bullying" policy yet the teachers didn't even bother to follow it themselves. I remember my mom had had a meeting with the principal and she had told my mom I was on a "scale". Saying | was below bullying. Which I guess meant I technically wasn't being bullied despite me getting verbally abused by other children each and every day. And the one time I actually stood up for myself I was always the one to get in trouble. There was this one incident that still upsets me even almost 10 years later. Some girls were picking on me, normal stuff, but I finally had the courage to yell back. I never laid a hand on them. Just simply wanted to stand my ground. All of a sudden, my old teachers aid from TK (she still worked at the school after | was in her class), grabbed my wrists and started to pull me away from them. She was restraining me. I have sensory issues so of course this just made me more upset and even terrified. Her cold hands grabbing me and pulling me, I'll never forget that. I even told her I wasn't going to hurt them. Sorry this review was so long but thank you to anyone who reads this. I want to help kids like me who are being mistreated without anyone knowing it. I want people like me to be safe and enjoy a normal school life like any other child. Once again, if you have a disabled child, it is for their own good to not send them here. If you see something, say something.

This school district sucks. Take a look at the conditions of the schools and that will tell you all…read moreyou need to know. My child is being held hostage at Dalton and they would not approve a transfer to a better school district for my child. Then in order to volunteer or do anything to assist at the school, you have to get a live scan done. Cool no biggie, they require a form that has to to be filled out and signed by the school after a meeting as as well as get other things to prove your identity and then get a money order in the amount of $44. Did nobody tell them that no one sells money orders anymore due to the high amount of fraud that's associated with them. Whatever, I went to seven stores until one finally did it. Then showed up little late for my live scan appointment and was told that they couldn't do it because it takes too long and they have another appointment. Mind you there was no other appointment after that appointment so if my appointment ran a little bit longer, I'm sure the person who was after me wouldn't be too upset. BTW I used to do live scan when I worked at the police department before and it takes no more than 15 minutes if you're competent. Guess that just tells you who they have working there. They need a 30 minute appointment for it for some reason.

As soon as I had found out about the incident, I quickly notified the District for an emergency meeting. We met with Gary Creel (Director of Child Welfare and attendance). We told him what had occurred in Slauson and he had the attitude of "why are you bothering with this". He did not seem one bit concerned of the incident and mentioned during the meeting as to "why we're we there?" Which is a concern of mine because Mr. Creel writes a full page on Bullying and how it's not tolerated. This incident occurred a few weeks ago the boy is still in my sons class. You can find the policy on the Azusa district website under bullying policy. https://ausd-ca.schoolloop.com I don't trust Mr. Creel he said he would get back to me and has not and I believe his attitude towards this issue was careless.

My daughter was missing from her class room after lunch. The teacher noted she was missing as soon as she picked up her students from the playground area. My daughter was lost for over 35 minutes before I found out she was missing and I only found once I tried to pick her up from their classroom. The teacher asked me to step in the class and told me they were looking for her but had yet to find her. We proceeded to go see the principal Mrs. Le. Once in the office they were all looking at me blankly and proceeded to tell me they had been unable to find her but they thought she might be in one of the other classrooms. They asked if anyone else had picked her up. My mind was spinning! I proceeded to go look for her at the kindergarten classrooms but no luck on the first classroom. I proceed to the next classroom (I should mention kids were being dismissed to the patent/caregivers while my child was Missing, everyone went about their day as if nothing wrong was happening) Once I went to the second classroom I immediately saw my daughter and called her over. My daughter had been in this class all along although the principal, the aide and the playground guard had gone to this very classroom to look for her (a total of 5 times altogether). HOW COULD THAT TEACHER NOT KNOW SHE HAD AN EXTRA STUDENT?! WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED SOONER?!! This could have had a totally different ending (thank God this was not the case) and the school would have been responsible if anything had happened to my daughter. My daughter will not be going back to this school and I highly recommend you not send your kids to this school they are not safe!
