Powder affectionately known as "Pow Mow" is one massive spread out mountain and you can easily get lost here. The skiing is fantastic with plenty to occupy intermediates and experts. No chance of boredom here! I do not recommend bringing beginners here because they may not enjoy steeper green runs. They also may meander onto a more difficult run with no easy way down except a butt scoot while holding skis. The trail signs can be confusing too while many slopes aren't linked to a lift. I do love skiing here as they limit ticket sales to 2,000 daily that prevents crowding. Its lodge isn't pretentious like posh resorts Park City or Deer Valley. There are no fancy dining options just simple comfort foods. read more

Powder Mountain may be the underdog of mountains in Utah but it is far from that, providing the most epic riding you'll ever experience in Utah. Pow Mow provides a good variety of terrain ranging from tons of drops, booters off the sides of trails, natural kickers galore, awesome glades, and lots of hidden pow if you know where to look. Some of my favorite places that are worth checking out include Sanctuary, Magic Bus on Cobabe Canyon (although Cobabe Canyon itself is awesome so you can pretty much go anywhere, though you have to go up an intimidating but easy tow rope to get there), Powder Country (shuttle bus at bottom of hill to take you back to the lodge), Paradise (requires traversing and wrapping around a very narrow rock just past Straight Shot) but the rewards are great (good drops, chutes and pow that most people won't want to bother getting to). There is also a $15 cat ride if you'd like to ski the very right side (James Peak). If you're feeling baller and want a once-in-a-lifetime experience (though I haven't done it), they also have a ~$375 Grand Cat Package where a cat is reserved for you all day and takes you to parts of the mountain that is closed off exclusively for people who commit to this package. You may just be good with one $15 cat ride just for the experience. The only downside to this mountain is that the lodges are small to nonexistent. Don't expect any extravagant food as they serve the bare minimum, and I would recommend packing your own lunch, but who wants to waste all their time in the lodge when they will be doing some very memorable and epic riding. I could probably spend a whole week here just because of the vast amount of terrain, as it is touted as the biggest mountain in North America with 7000+ skiable acres. You'll have to work at getting some of the remote places but it's well worth it. This is definitely my favorite of the Utah mountains. read more

Snowboarded here on somewhat of a whim while driving cross country. Even though Park City would have been the choice resort, my sister and I figured Powder Mountain would be less crowded with tourists. Boy were we right. We had hours of fun on a bright, sunny Monday speeding down trails (and even off the trails) without worrying about crashing into other people or running over little kids. It was heaven! Pros: - Nice wide trails - A plethora of said wide trails of all degrees of difficulty - Tons of fresh powder - Awesome scenery (Utah Rockies and the Great Salt Lake) - Plenty of places for safe off-trail skiing - Crowds are non-existent Cons: - Riding the long runs necessitate use of the very slow chair lift - Snowboarder alienating T-bars - Ski-in/ski-out set-up - Small lodges with limited food options Yeah, I'd definitely go back if I were ever in Utah again during ski season. read more

Just want to thank everyone at Powder Mountain. Unlike some of the other resorts near SLC this place truly has something for everyone. 4 of us were there on St Paddys Day, 8 inches of fresh pow. The friendliest staff, they dont gouge you for food or drinks. The food at Hidden Lake Lodge was excellent. The trees are pretty spread apart so even intermediates can go through them and enjoy a different type of skiing. I'm from Brooklyn so i never quite understood why places out west always had so few lifts and people say its huge. I'm used to the east coast where they count every magic carpet as a lift. Now I understand. It's a little over an hour from SLC but so worth it. For beginners who want that Warren Miller experience, take the Sunrise pommel lift and drop in anywhere. Even the experts with us had huge smiles from this part of the mountain. This was by far the best day of riding of my life. read more

Got invited on a boarding trip with a bunch of randoms. Opportunity to board out west? Hell yeah! They chose Powder Mountain based on reccos from people who said it was an off-the-beaten-path locals spot. This place was well worth the (discounted military) lift ticket I got. So much terrain, really great groomed trails. Lots of back country stuff. Sadly while we were there, Powder Country wasn't open. Some of our group went out on the Cat trip and said that it wasn't a great day for it as there hadn't been tons of new snow lately. The t-bar provided lots of entertainment as most of our group was boarders and there were some great videos of all of us eating it trying to make it up. All-in-all, way better value than the more posh resorts closer to SLC. Would definitely like to come back. read more

I bought my husband a day of CAT skiing through Powder Mountain's Adventure Center. It was somewhat expensive but was the best day of snowboarding my husband had ever had. He is already making plans to go back again. The next day, I skied at Powder Mountain with a friend for the first time. The snow was excellent and it was almost like having the whole mountain to ourselves (we went on a Sunday, which I highly recommend!). The terrain was perfect - lots of fun blues and blacks with deep powder pockets and paths through trees. We typically ski closer to SLC but are happy that we discovered this little gym up north. read more

On a recent vacation, I was the only person in our group who had not snowboarded before so decided to sign up for a private lesson at the resort. I cannot say enough about the experience. My instructor was Rick - he was INCREDIBLE. I've never been a snow person and certainly not an athlete - I wasn't expecting much from the experience. Rick was an excellent teacher, he gave practical advice and instruction that made sense. After only an hour I felt much more confident and was actually having fun (despite all the falls). It was such a great experience my husband had Rick take him out for a half day of CAT skiing the following day. He had a great time and would have never gone on his own. We will definitely be back. We always choose Powder Mountain over the nearby Snowbasin because PM is about skiing and snowboarding, period. Snowbasin, Snowbird, and the various SLC and Park City resorts are the upscale, glamor places to partake in winter sports, but PM is for the hardcore. The Sundown slope is great for people of modest ability and has night hours as well. More advanced snowboarders have thousands of acres and from green up to double diamond slopes on the other side. I do NOT recommend driving directly to the PM lots unless you have 4W drive because the road is steep and a little treacherous in a snow storm. PM has a convenient bus that goes down to Valley Market and the Moose Hollow and Wolf Creek areas. Oh, and the passes are much more reasonably priced than other resorts. read more

So I walk into this bar called the hidden lake cantina right. Being parched from shredding the pow pow I'm like," Hey a corona sounds amazing right now from this CANTINA." (it's bar in Spanish for you non bilingual folks) The music matches the name, makes me feel like I'm in a Latin night bar or something equivalent. I'm digging it!!! If you want to go snowboarding where it's not crowded with tourists, where there are no lines and long runs, go to Powder Mountain. Go early and make your own tracks in the powder. Lift tickets are about $49/day, there's hardly a wait on the lifts (only about 6 or 7 lifts available), fun tree runs. Although the locals were complaining about what a terrible season this year was.. us Californians were in awe at how awesome it was. Boarding will never be the same again where I'm from. I can't even imagine what it must be like in Utah on a good season. Did the ski cat for $15 thing where it takes you up to a place where it's harder to get to, which was fun but I think next time I will walk it. read more

We started coming here when the Park City crowds got so tiresome that skiing there was no longer any fun. We will never go back! The on-mountain amenities aren't fancy, but the food is quite good. And this year the COVID precautions are reassuring--food is outdoors and the lift operators remind people to pull their masks up, so you can feel safer in the midst of Utah's Covid outbreak. read more

every email i receive from you now is just an irritating reminder of who you are and how you regard customers.  last week you sent an email with a code you said entitled me to purchase a season pass. one code equals one pass, your email said.  it also said I had until april 10 to buy before the passes were released to the general public. what your email failed to say is what you were actually doing.  you were throwing out more emails and purchase codes than you had season passes to sell.  this would have been vital information.  i see from online communication that when your customers point out your disingenuous, misleading marketing strategy, your responses are "better luck next year."  Pretty patronizing and condescending.  complete lack of accountability.  you may feel that you can treat customers however you like due to the scarcity you have created for your product.  i have no doubt however that your business practices will catch up with you.  i get the distinct impression I am interacting with juveniles from the way your mountain is run, from the way your website is constructed, from the way you interact with customers.  I have to imagine this is a top-down problem in your organization.  as much enjoyment as I have had on your mountain, the way you conducted your season pass sale is a bridge too far for me.  and clearly for others in the community as well.  your most recent email telling me to hurry and buy a midweek season pass is another example.  there are still midweek passes from last year available to buy.  who is in charge over there?  it is hard to say as I have never been able to communicate with anyone through your website.  the contact us links have never worked. good luck to you.  i hope your ability to implement change from the feedback of those you need to keep your business running improves.  or maybe that is not your actual goal.  i would not be surprised.april read more

Our favorite resort in Utah for terrain just wish they would upgrade the Paradise lift to a high speed.....the never ending lift. Powder country and Cobobee Canyons are both great as is Paradise ridge when conditions allow. Not as steep as the SLC resorts, has more of a mountain resort and less of a Canyons resort layout. Lower altitude than most of the Utah resorts means warmer temps but sometimes less snow. Try the pizza by the slice in the main base area cafeteria and the ramen in the bar, both very very good and reasonably priced. Really wish the bar had mixed drinks and served high point beer craft or not 4% tap beer is terrible. read more

This mountain is great for beginners looking for mellow terrain. If you are an experienced rider looking for steep thrilling terrain this is NOT the place to go. The mountain biking on the other hand is very good. There is a great mix of trails from beginner to expert and they are very well designed. read more

Skiing may be okay but customer service et all is so horrible I will likely never get a chance to try. I have Indy Pass I already used at 4 other resorts with no problem. POW inexplicably feels it is sensible to require 5 day reservation in advance. This is bad enough but whatever... However, in attempting this I couldn't get through the checkout due to technical issues (not based on not ordering early enough. I tested by adding a ticket way out into the future and same error). Called support and as any unethical organization that is happy to take your money rather than earn it, a cheery voice happily told me they will not do anything about it and I can come a different day. Well....skiing there may be decent (I'm skeptical it's that great based on my research unless you are a beginner) but I will likely never know because the experience I had was so horrible I doubt I'll every try again. I'd rather pocket the Indy and pay to drive down the road to a different place. read more

The day and evening before closing day it dumped. Closing day was one of the best days of skiing I've ever had. You mileage may vary but it was a bluebird day, no lines, lots of open ski acreage, and good tacos at the lodge. I hope they pave the parking lot because at the end of the day it was a hot mess. read more

This is how skiing should be -- fabulous snow, vast mountain (7000 acres), reasonable prices, no crowds, no lift lines, and extraordinarily friendly staff. This is the kind of place where if you rent skis, and don't use them because your back goes out, no problem -- they don't charge you when you return the skis. This is the kind of place where if a kid dumps his hot cocoa in their "lodge" (lodge is in quotes cause it's really not much of a lodge) they're going to replace your kid's drink, free of charge, without a second thought. The staff is beyond friendly and professional and make it an absolute pleasure to be there. Would be a perfect 5 stars except you can't connect from upper mountain to lower without taking a shuttle, and that really is a nuisance. But well worth it. read more

Pow Mow is the best resort I've been to so far. It's a little far from where I live, but every run I've been on is perfectly suited for my snowboarding level. It has the greatest off-trail runs I have ever had the pleasure of experience, and everyone I've met there is so nice! I love this resort! When I'm out skiing, it isn't for the posh lodge and gold-plated toilets. It's for, you know, skiing! There is a good mix of green, blue, and black runs. The people at Powder are friendly and very helpful. Parking is at the top, you ski down. The runs do not funnel into the same place. This resort has a great layout so that even on crowded days, you aren't on top of each other! Powder Mountain offers mountain tours at 10:00am and 1:00pm that comes with the purchase of your lift ticket. The tour guide will take you around the mountain and recommend runs that are good for you personally. I have a season pass at Powder Mountain, I'm a loyal customer, one who returns when I'm treated well. I've heard criticism about the drive to the mountain, and honestly, compared to Little Cottonwood Canyon, and even the North Ogden Divide, it's isn't bad! read more

Great hidden ski area with short lift lines, great terrain and friendly staff. Many of the runs are groomed daily. A good variety of green to black. The Powder Keg has good chili cheese burgers/fries and cold draft beers. There's a lodge at the top with similar fare. I'll be hitting these slopes again along with it's sister resort across the ridge Snow Basin which has killer gondola service. read more

This is the Mecca of powder skiing and snowboarding. Prices keep going up here, but it's not too bad considering the massive amount of terrain for all skill levels. Lifts are slow, but it's never crowded here, and lives up to it's name with constant fresh powder. Some of the more remote areas take some work getting to, but it pays off. Pay extra and take a snowcat up to untouched terrain, pay more and get a cat for the entire day in areas reserved only for those VIPs. It's lower elevation makes for more warmer days up here, but results in less base and shorter seasons than the SLC area resorts. It's an old-school resort, pretty barebones..no fancy lodge hotel, no 5-star restaurants or gondolas. Since it's not a destination resort, you'll have to commute or find simple local lodging. Drive up the mountain can get harry, very steep and narrow, so be careful. Anyway you play it here, you'll have a great time. read more

Powder is one of my favorite places to board and I drive up there every time I visit Utah. We went earlier this week and it was perfect! It is not a "tourist" resort so don't expect to be pampered. But if you want great skiing and/or boarding . . . this is the place. Try reserving the cat to take you to the other side of mouton . . . amazing! I spent 4 days riding here in February 09 (President's day weekend) with 5 pals. We didn't know what to expect and the place lived up to its name, blessing us with endless dumps of champagne powder over our entire stay. The storms were magically calm most of the time and let us ride until our legs wouldn't work any more. The longest line I waited in was about 6 people deep. Their shuttle system is a little antiquated... creaking old buses that kind of surprised me when they made it up that steep road, but they did run all day and get us where we needed to go. I waited too long (day 4) to try out the cat-skiing and by then my legs were totally rubbery and wouldn't to what I told them, so next time I'm making sure to do this earlier in my trip. The lodges and such are not all fancy, and the bar was a little slow, but that became part of what I loved about the place... that "no frills, just snow" mentality was awesome and refreshing. We tried SnowBasin for a day and the lift lines were long, the lodges were almost grotesquely opulent, and the snow wasn't nearly as good.... they had all kinds of wind coming up from SLC and everything was pretty icey. read more

Went for a ski trip with some friends I had never skied or snowboarded before so I went to ski school and it was ok I learned how to pick myself up off the snow. But on the third day when I was having a bit of trouble a random instructor just came up to me and said "I have a few minutes before I have to be to mid mountain let me help you out" so for the next 45 min or so he gave me some tips and pointers. This kind of behavior shows that he really enjoys what he does, this did not go unnoticed and really meant a lot to my fiance and I. this place has a cult following amog locals in the know, it could use some updated high speed lifts or gonadolas but the endless powder (which of course lasts longer since the lifts move fewer people per hour up the mountain) and snow cat service makes up for it. read more

Best father son trip ever! Cat riding booked through Powder Mountain Adventure Center was an awesome experience. The guides were very experienced and knew every hidden spot to go to find the best powder. The pace was amazing, we got 15 runs in! Overall a great value for the money. It was a great mixture of adventure and a real sense of safety. The quality of the snow was only surpassed by the quality of the crew and guides. Very professional! Everyone was friendly and easy going but the process is well managed. If you are looking for art galleries and skating rinks stay in Park City, if you want to be blown away by terrain and snow until you are ready to pass out then make the pilgrimage to Powder Mountain! My son is already asking when we can go back! read more
