After…read moremy long-time dentist retired, I gave 3-4 different dentists a chance but they all proved untrustworthy (e.g. telling me I needed expensive procedures I knew I did not need) and/or were ill equipped (e.g. rundown offices with out-of-date equipment). Good luck it was finding Dr. Jin, whose offices and equipment are always state-of-the-art! For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever ! That being said, all in all, trust is the best feature of Dr. Jin's service -- she trusts you and will work with you to meet your situation and needs. And you can definitely trust her !

I unfortunately left before having my wisdom teeth removed because I no longer felt comfortable or…read moresafe proceeding. My appointment was at 5:30 PM, which I have confirmation texts for, but they didn't start preparing me until around 7:30 PM. Meena initially told me they were behind because they accepted a walk-in before my appointment, despite knowing I had been fasting all day for sedation. Later, she claimed my appointment was actually at 6:30 due to a "miscommunication." When I complained about the delay, she told me it was okay because the procedure would only take 10 minutes, even though the dentist had previously told me removing all four wisdom teeth would take 40-60 minutes. Once I was brought back, they took my blood pressure over my thick sweater with my legs crossed, with the SpO monitor on the same arm. As a nursing student, this immediately stood out to me. My biggest concern was the IV. The dentist palpated for my veins with his bare hands. When I asked if he was going to put gloves on, he told me gloves made difficult veins harder to feel and then attempted the IV without them. After touching the area with his bare fingers, he did not clean the site again before inserting the needle. He also never introduced himself and audibly groaned when I told him I had difficult veins. After one IV attempt, he gave me medication under my tongue. I was under the impression it was only to calm me down before trying the IV again. Nobody clearly explained what I was being given or how sedating it would be. I later learned it was a benzodiazepine, and I barely remember the rest of that night. I could then hear staff arguing nearby about the fact that I was supposed to receive IV sedation. At that point, I told them I did not feel safe continuing and wanted to leave. Staff repeatedly tried to convince me to stay. After I left, the surgeon even called asking me to come back because I had already taken the medication and "might as well stay." During that call, he explained that I would start feeling under the influence and that the medication would begin the sedation process, information I wish had been clearly explained before I took it. The office was also extremely cramped and unfinished, and I was told they were still moving things in and making repairs. I understand that offices run behind and IVs can be difficult. It was the combination of everything and how it was handled that made me leave. When I'm trusting someone to sedate me and perform surgery, I need to feel safe, informed, and respected. Unfortunately, I did not feel that way here.
