I came in here happy to see a store similar to ones I've seen in NYC and elsewhere. The staff there is very friendly, most likely owners, and they want you to feel comfortable tasting as much as you'd like. They even offer to help with good pairings already pre-determined. Of course I had to taste everything since we were getting a gift basket for my brother-in-law. My favorite was actually the traditional aged balsamic. I guess I'm old school like that. I'd give it 5 stars if they allow you to come back and refill a previously purchased bottle for a slight discount, which I've seen in similar places. That would be return customers galore! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update: So I got a response from the Store Manager, and she mentioned, "you CAN bring back your bottle for a discount on a refill! I'm sorry that you didn't know that. :( We suggest you toss the cork and run the bottle through the dishwasher, then we will refill it for $1 off the original price. It can be refilled with whatever you'd like! We will give you a new cork and re-seal the bottle." Great! 5 stars it is. read more

I can't say enough about this wonderful store. I'm a home chef and I'm always looking for high quality products to build recipes around and Pour Olive never disappoints. They have amazing seasonal offerings along with their everyday products. I recently got their Vermont Maple Balsamic and Blood Orange Olive Oil and used them together in a Blood Orange and Maple Chicken dish and it was absolutely incredible! So is it bad that I was tasting and sipping olive oils like I was at a wine tasting? No. Not at all. Never been in this place but have always wanted to go. I walked in and thought my senses had hit their max. In the front I stood and sniffed their lotions and soaps made from olive oil?? What?? Man..that was awesome. Moving towards the middle, I saw the first olive oil that I could taste. Mmm..tasty. Then the manager of the store asked if I'd been in before. "no..and yes I'm over whelmed" She graciously moved me to the back where...there they were...lined up in all their glory. She showed me where the EVOOs started...where the flavored darker oils where and then where the balsamic ones were. I stood with my mouth open just in awe of all the silver canisters of olive oil goodness. I don't know much about olive oil, but I just know how to use it and what I like. Kinda like wine. So I just started from one end....and wound up sipping different ones. Smelling...tasting and thinking of recipes. The cool thing is that each olive oil has a suggestion on what to use it on and a description of it's flavor. I figured I'd just end up getting the basil infused oil. Until she told me that I could mix and match the oil with the balsamic. I thought "that's right...I could ...then I'd have a fabulous vinaigrette" She smiled then let me try the basil oil with the strawberry vinaigrette. Magic happened right in my mouth. Sold. Bought the two and was a happy camper. Try it out. If you LOVE cooking...and love trying new flavors, this place is for you. Take your time and really let them help you. They know what they're doing. Finally... I have found the ultimate olive oil store! Actually...very fortunate to have a great friend share a coupon offer. Oh my...the short visit to tastes some great oils. The great infused oils and fantastic balsamic vinegars will just blow your mind! I am planning on another trip soon to get taste and get more oils. I tried many and purchased the hojiblanco...a medium oil that mixed great with the cinnamon pear balsamic. The organic garlic was simply amazing! The owner (Doug) provided a great overview of the oils. Looking forward to getting back there soon. I also cooked tilapia today and added various spices to the oil for great flavor. I drizzled the oil and spices over the tilapia and wrapped in foil and baked! Ohhhh my goodness, the flavors were incredible!!! Yum is the word!! Yum, yum yum!!! read more

Claire, the manager, is so sweet and helpful! Shipping a hostess gift was easy and she was great with suggestions. I decided on gluten free brownie mix with orange olive oil that can be used in the mix- such a fun way to give friends and family from far away a little "taste" of Charlotte/the South. :) Although this purchase was over the phone, visiting their store is a treat with olive oil and balsamic samples and helpful but not suffocating or "sales-y" staff. I've been looking for a good selection of exceptional olive oils and vinegars, especially since I learned that many of the EVOO brands sold are not actual virgins after all! Many are cut with chemicals/inferior oils. I heard about Pour Olive and visited this morning. What an experience! I was there when the door opened and had a wonderful time tasting all kinds of premium oils and vinegars. The owner, Sophie Jones, was delightful and introduced me to an amazing variety of exceptional olive oils and vinegars. She also made me some yummy combos. I ended up leaving with 6 bottles - 3 oils and 3 vinegars. As soon as I got home I polished off a salad with a dressing of Perenzana Olive Oil and Cranberry Pear White Balsamic Vinegar. Heaven! Reasonably priced, great space, knowledgeable owner and a feast for the taste buds. This is not for cooks only. I am barely an amateur, but this experience has inspired me to ditch a lot of my old standbys and get creative! JUST GO!! read more
