My sister's medium boneless ribeye came out more rare than my medium rare and she finally had to settle for ribs! Which were actually edible. Biggest problem was the cutlery! The serrated steak knives were so dull and bent, you couldn't even cut a tender steak if you got one. If you can't even give your customers a decent knife, don't complain when they send back a steak. I give the manager credit for apologizing and doing what she could but Expats beware. If you're craving a good steak, save your $ and go to Wolfgang's. I understand that things are different here in the PI. I'm amazed that there is so much variety among restaurants. But it is not the fault of the locals when the restaurant company gives them cheap tools and products just to cut costs! Bad cooking is something else, though. A horrible experience at a Mesa restaurant actually made my wife go back in the kitchen and show the chef in training how to make adobo! Overall, I love the PI and the local cuisine. I think I'll stick to the chain restaurants that I know for certain are consistent.

Their Iberico Ribs are a must try!…read more I'm back at Morganfield's for another dose of their Iberico ribs, truly a marvel of meat. This is my gold standard for ribs and I'm sure it will be yours too. Jim Beam Iberico Ribs It's not just the sauce, it's mainly due "high quality meat" that they use to make this work, which isn't exactly a common commodity, which makes it extra special, they're probably the only restaurant serving such fine cuts. Made from Iberian pigs from Spain, each bone is like a lollipop of tender dark meat ready for you to suckle on, piece after piece. Honestly a pricey beast, but certainly something to feast. I don't fancy ribs as a regular treat, but when I do crave for some, I go for the best and that's at Morganfield's. Set Meals (Starting from 275 PHP) Just to be clear the ribs and beyond start from 395 pesos, while the 275 versions are just chicken fingers, fish, and the usual normal stuff. Go for the sets with ribs, their just too good to pass. Every set comes with a hefty salad bowl or a thick soup of the day. Plus unlimited Soda or Iced Tea. Hickory BBQ Spareribs and Herbed Roast Chicken (395 PHP) What a combo! You get ribs, fries, and a big piece of chicken. I'm not sure if this is a combo meal or a mini-platter that's good for 2, surely a heavy meal. A rather premium set for MOA, but for those looking for a great meal, look no further. This is a full package.

Although Morganfield's restaurant specializes in ribs, they also offer great appetizers, soups, salads, seafood, burgers, pasta, steaks, and desserts. They certainly have an extensive menu to keep everyone happy. The following are the highlights of our dinner there: 1) SMOKIN' DUCK SALAD- The duck meat was smoked then placed on top of mixed salad which consisted of tomatoes, bell peppers, Lolla Rossa lettuce, hard-boiled egg, and cucumber. It was made richer with the added century egg which I hoped was the only egg placed in the salad. Anyway, the soy vinaigrette complemented well with the entire salad that made it uniquely delicious. 2) JIM BEAM BBQ IBERICO BABY RACK - The baby back ribs were slathered with a mixture of Louisana hot sauce and Jim Beam bourbon whiskey. The server told us that it might be spicy but that wasn't the case at all for us. Slowly baked in the oven, marinated overnight, and grilled to perfection, the ribs was very tender and juicy. The meat itself requires only tiny effort to pry from the bone. And it was made more succulent with the sauce that we ate the baby back ribs until the bones were the only ones left. The fries and the side dish tasted delicious as well. 3) SMOKED PEPPERCORN SPARE RIBS SET MEAL -- The peppercorn provided a little bit of spiciness to the dish and was the apparent overall flavor. Besides that, Morganfield's restaurant remained consistent by having their spare ribs tender too. The garden salad that we tried with it was normal tasting, but it was good enough. 4) CHICKEN AND HICKORY RIBS SET MEAL - This is a good choice for those who wants to eat more than ribs but doesn't want to go for sharing platters. It comes with 1/4 chicken that is rested very well and the lean meat doesn't taste dry to me at all. Additionally, it comes with ribs that have the same quality as the rest we've tried. The difference there is that hickory bbq sauce was used in it. Meanwhile, the soup of the day during the time we dined at Morganfield's was their spicy gumbo soup. We found it too spicy to taste it well. 5) BREAD PUDDING - It was served warm. And it was a good comfort food as it has a dollop of ice cream on top and the sauce was a sweet "special whiskey" sauce. We easily cut through its soft texture and finished it entirely in just a few minutes.

Found along the Blue Bay Walk strip, this tiny restaurant specializes in ostrich meat burgers. Yep...ostrich meat. As in, huge birds seemingly endemic to Australia but is actually farmed in 50 countries, ostrich meat. While that may initially come off as "exotic" to most first time eaters, ostrich has been known to be much leaner than regular beef, lower in fat and cholesterol, but taste and look almost indistinguishable from each other. Their website has a useful chart of ostrich fun facts to get you used to the idea. Not to worry, if your stomach says yes but your mind is less adventurous, for now at least, good old Angus beef burgers and chicken wings are also on the menu. The Ostrich Farm also has a small deli up front where customers can purchase their own pieces of meat, should they be interested in trying it themselves in the comfort of home.

It is located beside Kimono Ken. It is your local burger joint that serves ostrich meat. They also have beef variant, but of course, I have to try their specialty. Ostrich meat tastes almost the same as beef, it looks like it too, but it has more protein content, less in calories, and more expensive. I ordered their Mushroom Burger with Ostrich, served with barbecue flavor fries and unlimited ketchup and cheese dip. I like the size of the burger and when eaten together like a regular burger, the combination of flavors was good. The meat was flavorful and tender. When eaten with a knife and fork, it does not have that much enjoyment. Mushrooms, caramelized onion, ostrich patty, cheese equals a perfect burger. Although the fries are equally good, a little disappointing to see that they used MSG, which I feel they don't need to. Aside from the burger, I also tried their cheese balls. I was disappointed with this because I was really looking forward to it. The outer crust was super hard that even a fork had a hard time poking through it. The filling is cheesy and milky, but at the same time, there was too much flour. The cheese balls also came with a nacho dip, but the flavor can hardly be tasted. If I come back, maybe I can try other burger variants and their pasta, but definitely not those cheese balls.

We passed by Holy Cow and noted 2 things: it had a few empty tables, and it had steak. Perfect. Or so we thought. We ordered a steak and chops meal to share, and while the pork chop was good, the steak was ridiculously tough. Sure, it was cooked just right and the juices dripped out when pressure was applied, but it's impossible to enjoy your meal if with every bite you try to chew your food longer than necessary, but end up swallowing it whole anyway because it refuses to succumb. Would consider coming back, because there were some interesting items on their all-American menu that might be better. At least I'll know the next time to get a less problematic kind of food. You know, something that doesn't take forever to cut.

I was surprised to see that most of it was bone with very little meat, not enough for even half a cup of rice. Extremely disappointing. Thankfully, I was already done eating at that time.

Holy Cow - Rodeo salad. The dressing is heavy on onion, so thank goodness for the mangoes and tomatoes to balance out the flavor.
