Disappointing great service, great atmosphere but sadly food is less then ideal for premium price. Kitchen equipment was faulty so fries came out in allotments. Ordered a 1700 peso rib eye asked for well done got rare. Asked to have it cooked a bit more waited awhile then it was basically the same rate. I think the grill is under powered? Not sure but they should stick to simpler foods like sandwiches etc my friend had burger said it was mehhh but expensive. read more

Always a solid place to hang out with friends for coffee or drinks any time of the day. I've been here for breakfast and a late lunch, and I enjoyed both times. What I love most about this place is its relaxed and people are there to hang out with others, not stay on their laptops or work. Went here on a Saturday night and it was packed! I love their interiors especially the displayed handcrafted beers and coffee from different places. I was in a group of 4 and we got a tiny round table inside (smoking/ al fresco area is outside) :( I heard from my brother that their food is A quality and very filling, but I wanted to try their coffee - something they're also known for. We tried: hangover pasta + ginger ale, pulled pork sandwich, chili cheese potato wedges, chorizo pasta, steak and eggs (?), Iced cafe latte and hot macchiato. I say everything we tried turned out great - presentation, service time, and quality. Macchiato was a surprise tho - it was an espresso sized drink which made us laugh :)) We wanted to try the smores in skillet for dessert, but we didn't order in time to wait for 30 mins. :( Although I was glad to see that other customers order this as well so it's something I'd look forward to when I come back to visit. read more

Can I give a place more than five stars? Refinery deserves all of the stars. Not only do they offer soy milk options on all of their drinks - they know how to use it. I've never had a soy cappuccino with foam like I can get here. They also do milk teas - with soy! Be still my lactose adverse heart. But their awesomeness doesn't just extend to cappuccinos and milk tea - they also offer decadent french toasts, and carefully toasted croissant sandwiches with perfectly scrambled eggs and thick bacon tucked inside. Their breakfasts are some of the most filling, amazing, and perfectly affordable options in rockwell. And wherever you sit - inside in the cool AC, or outside in the breeze on their patio, the servers are prompt, polite, and unintrusive. They also do happy hour prices on certain tasty cocktails in the evenings - 25% off! So not only do they check all my coffee, brunch, and breakfast boxes, they also get a big thumbs up for happy hour with friends. If what you seek is an amazing breakfast with some of the best coffee available in the Philippines then the Refinery should be on your short list of venues! The ambiance is very chic and laid back; you can feel the "country" in the air. The tables and chairs are a very eclectic mixed batch of furnishings, but they totally work together in this context. The food is somewhat pricey, but the quality is so good that you won't regret the cost at all. I ordered the French Toast Bacon with vanilla cream. It was unquestionably drool-worthy, and completely satisfied the bacon lover in me. I paired this with a thirst-quenching ice tea, and I was one amazingly happy camper. My friend got the Sausage Platter and Popcorn with Bacon; it looked and tasted so good that I seriously considered ordering another right then and there for us to share ;-) Tip: Their beverage menu contains a number of different coffee selections, along with wine, beer, and various types of tea. Today, this place was my office. In just over an hour, my business partner and I were able to plan a whole photo shoot - from makeup to hair to the main vibe of our editorial - and the rest of the afternoon was made for chismisan, some business-related, mostly oh-my-God-guess-what-related. Actually, Refinery is a temple for coffee lovers. They offer great variety of beans - from subtle and sweet Brazilian origin to the bright and juicy with hints of floral Kenyan coffee. If you don't know which one to choose, the staff can give you a "minute class" about beans and also help you to choose te best extraction method. Insider tip: orange infused cappuccino will change your life. If it's a sunny day and you prefer something refreshing, then try the strawberry basil lemonade. Every time I'm in Rockwell, I drop by Refinery to order a Bloody Mary, regardless of the time of day. If you want the Best Damn Bloody Mary in Manila, it's to be had here. Their resident bar boss (I refuse to call him the bartender, because there's more up his sleeve than that) Travis Halverson makes THE meanest Bloody Mary. Trust me on this one. It's probably because he does this thing that involves bacon and vodka and he does it SO WELL! The Bloody Mary errs on the spicier side, fair warning for those who don't like their beverages on the spicy side. I also recommend The Bee's Knees, another one of his creations which involves egg whites, lemon and just a hint of bitters! Rockwell is a great place to have dinner, given the number of the quality restaurants that call it home. Still, the popularity of this mall means that actually getting a seat can prove to be a little bit of a problem, especially if you're there at the usual time. Still, hope remains, as long as you're willing to take a few steps out of the mall and across the street. Located in the ground floor of the Joya condominium, Refinery offers good food at a slightly elevated (although not undeserved) price point. The sausage platter, in particular, is excellent in terms of taste and portion size. Pour-over coffee can be ordered for postprandial satisfaction, although tea is also available if that's more your thing. If you're the type to top dinner off with drinks instead, the bar has a small but well-stocked selection of hard liquor, and can whip up acceptable cocktails on order. Since Refinery is on a small but busy street, it is preferable to eat inside and move outdoors (where you can also smoke) for drinks. If you didn't leave your car in the mall, you can park on both sides of the street in front of the establishment, although spaces are extremely limited and quite hard to come by. read more

Is third wave coffee and signature cocktail bar just a thing, or is here to stay? Please say yes, make it so. It's rockstar venues such as these - Wildflour, The Curator Coffee and Cocktail, Vask, Single Origin - that keep the lounge crowd engaged. True, Refinery is not a big space, and on weekdays, like last night, you might see more students than friends and groups hanging out. There are a few tables inside, but when it's cool enough, which is to say, when the weather is merciful enough to give us a breeze, it's good to sit outside. Pastries are provided by Eric Kayser, and God bless me for ordering a bread pudding that was out of this world. Baked in a skillet, buttery, with syrup on the side - I suspect this bread is made with Eric Kayser pastry "leftovers" (or not, but does it matter). They knocked this one of out the park. My friends ordered a third wave Sumatra brew and a Valrhona mocha, while I settled for a hibiscus brew, which came in a nifty Teaze tea infuser. In retrospect, I should have asked for sweetener, because it became acidic quickly, but I didn't mind. The mocha is my next order when I return! There's one shelf of wine near the counter and bathroom, but it's not nice to sit there. We sat on the other end, by the craft beer collection, which has Japanese, American, and Filipino microbrews like Pedro and Joe's Brew. I forgot to mention that there's also a food menu, and it's got plenty of brunch and casual dining items that look good. I came here recently and liked the interior, feel, and location. As previous Yelpers mentioned, this place has amazing Bloody Mary's (thank you Timmy P). Food and drinks were excellent. Though service was lacking despite there being seven people behind the counter. We received our Bloody Mary's and coffee after we finished our breakfast? So about 40 mins after they were orders, despite asking for them three times. It proved severely hard to get the bill, and water. I had to go up to the counter twice to get the attention of the seven people who were working there to get both. Unfortunate as everything served here is of high quality, the place looks and feel fantastic, they just really need to do something about their service. Was looking for a brunch spot after a work out in Rockwell. A friend of mine recommended it. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the truffle eggs. The eggs Benedict was very basic nothing out of the ordinary aside from the fact the egg was poached perfectly. The truffle eggs where amazing! Not the healthiest option considering the slab of cheese and bread. I also got the peach iced tea which was disgusting. It tasted like 50% of syrup. It was way too sweet! read more

The food quality is good. However, I can only give 3 stars to this place because they so disorganized. I've been there for a late breakfast several times and my last experience was not that good. Me and my friend ordered some eggs benedict. After 5 minutes another waiter came to say that some of the ingredients were not available and so it was not possible to make that dish. We just left the place and went for another one. Moreover, they have some dishes that are only available for breakfast until 10:30. The funny thing is that most of them are made almost with the same ingredients of other dishes that are available all day. Again, the quality is good and the place is nice, but please get a minimum of organization! read more

Try the Brazil Fazenda Rodomunho beans! I prefer my coffee black with a little sugar, but this brew is fantastic on its own. Bold, dark flavors with a little acidity. The first time I paid a visit to Refinery, it was a nice weekday afternoon and because some of my girlfriends are just as funemployed (flexible working hours) as I am, we found ourselves wanting to try the new talked-about place in Rockwell. So there we were. I had the honey and basil grilled sandwich as recommended by a friend. It was pretty good, I just thought the bread was a tad too oily for my taste. Drinks-wise, I highly recommend the crimson berry iced tea and strawberry basil lemonade. As a side note, my friend ordered the grilled cheese with bacon sandwich and it was presented so well -- it's what I'm going to order for sure next time around. Rockwell's not exactly nearby, but I went all the way here for a breakfast date with my mom a few days ago, dying to have a taste of their bacon fat-infused pasta and gooey grilled cheese sandwiches. Unfortunately, they don't start making any of those until brunch at 10:30 (deep sigh) but my disappointment faded quickly because what we ordered instead still made the trip very much worth it. Their Bigger Breakfast platter is packed with all the good stuff you want to start your day with: fluffy scrambled eggs, savory sausage patties, and let's not forget - crispy strips of thick-cut bacon. The banana Nutella French toast kept me hooked from the first bite too! You'd think it's an overly indulgent combination, but the layer of melted mozzarella and parmesan inside actually balances out the sweetness of everything else on the plate (or should I say, cute wooden board). Went to the one in Greenhills while visiting Manila. So delicious! And such great service! We visited a few times. The salmon, the French onion toast, the tomato soup and the deep fried sausages are to die for! The desserts are delicious. The s'mores dessert was the best I've had! And the drinks are made so well.
