Container Store has long been on my bucket list (strange bucket list, huh?) of places I want to go…read more I've often seen them featured on the many home decorating shows I watch and long for more organization in my life. Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit (couldn't check in due to app problems) while hitting up my favorite eatery. I was hoping to gain inspiration, and find creative ways and ideas for dealing with all the stuff I own. I came prepared ready to purchase, armed with measurements, and my own tape measurement. Hubby was along for the ride, reluctantly, but was to be my voice of expertise as I'm the planner and project manager but he has to ultimately execute my ideas. There were a few projects in my home I wanted to tackle and fully expected to leave with a several purchases. However I left empty handed. While the store is nice and large and does have an assortment of storage ideas for every item imaginable it lacked creativity. I didn't find inspiration or any ideas that I haven't already thought of myself. All I discovered were tons of people (and hard to social distance in some isles) and rows and rows of overpriced plastic goods. The custom closet department especially was crowded and the floor displays had price tags that matched buying a used car. I see no reason to come here vs Ikea, which has similar displays and custom services, and the same particleboard quality. Makes me wonder do Container Store customers have no idea that Dollar Tree and Dollar Generals exist? Even Walmart, Target, and any big box retailer sells pretty much the same plastic bins at a fraction of the cost. I still can't get over their prices. I expected to be wowed, but left disappointed. One thing I do know, it's not even a challenge to replicate their storage solutions by visiting a dollar store. It's elementary!

Unfortunately, the checkout experience was concerning . I noticed the employee scan an orange bag and asked if there was a charge. I was told it would be free since it was my first purchase and I was signing up for their rewards program. After reviewing my receipt, I realized I was actually charged $0.20 for the bag. I was also instructed to check my email to complete my rewards account using a 6-digit verification code, but no code was provided anywhere. When I tried to find contact information for the store to resolve the issue, I discovered that none is listed. Not providing any contact information for customers is very concerning. Without a way to reach the business, even simple issues or questions cannot be resolved unless you physically return to the mall. This lack of transparency makes me hesitant to shop here again nor recommending it for others.

What kind of company has no working contact info ???? I reached out to them even on social media, no reply. If your item comes broken or flawed, good luck with that. This review is partly about the Newark, DE store, partly about the Norwalk, CT store, partly about…read morethe business as a whole. It's a real shame because last year I had a great experience at the Wilmington, DE store (you can see my review on their yelp page). I tried to purchase 2 chairs online, but the $25 off $500+ coupon they'd been emailing me weekly for months didn't work. Screenshot attached. They claimed I hadn't spent $500, even though my cart was at around $740. I got in an online chat, and they had a sales rep place an order for me. This rep was from the Connecticut store, though I would be picking up in Delaware. The conversation did not go super smoothly, they kept thinking I wanted to pick it up in CT. Eventually everything went through, the agent assured me there were no issues. They were supposed to call you to let you know about the items arriving. They didn't of course, so I called them... only to find out my order was flagged for fraud. They didn't bother to call me and tell me, I had to find out myself. My order was blocked (they wouldn't even send the items to Newark until the order was released). Delaware store told me to call Connecticut store. Connecticut store told me to call fraud. Fraud said the order was released after I gave them some info. I called Delaware back, they said it wasn't released. Fraud had lied. Delaware told me fraud was still open past 6 PM when I was on the phone with Delaware a few minutes before 6. I called them and they were closed. I called Delaware back, they gave me a whole bunch of "there's nothing I can do." I got in an online chat with R&F to cancel my order because I was beyond annoyed at this point. They said they couldn't, and I had to call Connecticut. Connecticut knew fraud was closed, but said they'd call me back to see if they could get in touch with someone and get it handled. They called back, no success, canceled the order and refunded my money. Absolute waste of time playing phone call carousel. I still continued to get emails and texts asking me to review the furniture I received (which I didn't receive), complete my order (even though it was completed), etc. over the next couple days. I checked my order status online and it said one of the items is out of stock until 11/13 (3 weeks after pickup was originally supposed to be -- if I had decided to play their games and go through with the order, I would have traveled up to DE and my order wouldn't even have been available for pickup). Yikes. Their systems are completely dysfunctional. I called the CT store on Sunday 10/22, and spoke to someone who assured me my order had been cancelled and promised to send a cancellation confirmation email. She lied. No email came. I got in an online chat the next day and asked them to send the cancellation confirmation email. The online agent couldn't do that. The online agent actually told me the order had been cancelled Sunday (not Friday as the person from CT had told me). They also said they would email the CT store to have them actually send the order cancellation notification. I can't say whether they did, but the CT store never sent me the cancellation notification. I did ultimately receive the refund. But it's like pulling teeth trying to get any decent communication out of anyone at this company.
