I love Pottery Barn's simple American aesthetic and have been a customer since the first store in New York opened ages ago. The "jelly jar" drinking glasses with lids were my go-to beverage and storage containers for years. I order more on line now, but always go to the stores to check out the actual materials and craftsmanship of the items. I am super happy with the huge file cabinets I got last year with counter hung drawers and anti-tip locks. The delivery was seamless, and the young men who assembled and installed them were friendly! Our local store is small, so I always check in at the Del Monte Pottery Barn when I am in Monterey. I have liked the Christmas tree ornaments from Pottery Barn for years, and luckily collected many of the mercury balls and Victorian themed designs. This year's assortment is a bit thin and the all green and white tree just not as festive as the holiday season!! We were greeted immediately, and steered to the dishes we wanted to see, but the white, grey, and blue color scheme of the current design trends is just a bit too bland for us. I can't wait until sage green or turquoise make a come back in PB's color schemes. Meanwhile, I will still explore the products at the store, but here's hoping for a livelier spring, especially after the isolation of the recent pandemic! read more

The product line for fall 2026 looks terrific. The store was well merchandised and filled in......however no hello, no eye contact, no greeting. All the sales specialists were talking amongst themselves. I was not the only customer who noticed. There were several other customers milling about and they all were ignored. I needed a gift for my niece and an employee named Sarah did na excellent job of finding me the perfect pot and pan set! I was very pleased with the level of customer service I received. My niece loved the new pots and pans. I also grabbed a bottle of olive oil for myself. It was very fragrant and tasty. That is again for your help Sarah! read more

The staff at this location are HORRIBLE. They expect you to LOOK like you can afford to shop in their store! No casual clothing allowed. My sister and I went shopping at this location. Their cashier counter had wooden boards on the corner, which were unattached! The entire corner section fell off and onto my foot. I am already disabled and it IMMEDIATELY cause SEVERE pain! The first response from the employee was to ask my sister, "what did you do?!" NO ONE bothered to check on the clearly injured person. I ended up outside the store, sitting on the cement step because I could not put weight on my foot. I had to remove both my shoe and sock, due to swelling and PAIN. I am now waiting on an X-ray to make sure no bones were broken. The response from the staff, was to treat us as if we were dirt, unworthy of DARING to shop at their "high end" store. One woman, later identified as the manager, approached where I sat outside, saw my uncovered and injured foot, and exclaimed, "ooh, you. REALLY Are hurt." It took ANOTHER store's manager, across the walkway, to go and FIND the manager and get someone to even ACKNOWLEDGE the problem with THEIR faulty counter. I've had excellent experiences with Pottery Barn. A year ago, we ordered 2 sofas for our livingroom which are comfortable and pretty. I went in two days ago to look at sleeper beds, and there was a lovely selection of fabrics and style. Kathryn H helped me and was careful to make sure that I was completely satisfied. We talked later on the phone and then again when I went back to order. She was so helpful and friendly. read more

Just picked up an order I placed online. Two women at the counter on their phones not working. One looks up and helps me. The other one gets out a binder, "oh this is the midnight one! Ha ha ha" They didn't thank me for my order (I spent over $400) I (because of my retail background) thanked her!! Only then did she thank me. The quality is good. The service here is horrible. First off, if you have any issue with pottery barn, the only way to contact them is via phone, and it is always "a longer than normal wait time". No email address. No chat. This store in particular was very unkind and unhelpful when I brought my issue into the store since I could not get anyone on the phone. I ordered a 16 piece dish set, one bowl was broken when it was delivered. I brought in just the set of 4 bowls from the larger set since pottery barn sells that set of 4 bowls online separately. My hope was that they could just replace the one broken bowl, at worst replace the set of 4 bowls within the 16 piece set. But no, I could not be helped without bringing in all 16 pieces, 15 of which were perfectly fine. I was told it would take 3 weeks for the replacement to be delivered. After 3 weeks, nothing was delivered. So, I waited on the phone to be told that the store never checked in my return, so they could not release the replacement. Not only was this a huge waste of time and effort for me as the customer, this is also so wasteful in the shipping and packing required to handle returns in this manner. read more

I came in here today with my wife and we hada very pleasant time wandering around and looking at various gadgets and utensils. The help was present but not overbearing. The pricing was expectedly higher than you might find elsewhere but he store smelled amazing and was clean. I ended up buying myself a new wine decanter and am looking forward to using it this weekend! read more

Stopped by at this store to start looking for some furniture for my house, we spent about 25 minutes walking and looking around. The staff were just looking at us and talking to each other. No greeting, no questions asked if we need help.... Another client comes who is American and they started talking to her and still not us!!! Words cannot describe how I felt with this unprofessional behavior and attitude, only one girl came at the very end and said let me in to if you have questions. Who was not white... After 3 months of trying to resolve my car repairs to be paid for due to damage done while furniture was being loaded into my car, I finally found some resolution. Long story, but bottom line is, never let an employee ask you to help them carry things to your car or put it in, it is not your responsibility, but that is what happened to me. The metal damaged my back bumper, and had 1,300 worth of repair work. The insurance company that covers the Pottery barn brand agreed to pay, then did not return my calls for weeks since the original adjuster quit or was fired suddenly and did not tell anyone about this claim!. To add to the problem, The store manager never called me back,and told her other employees not to call me back either, which is so unprofessional and down right mean spirited. I do love their products, but will never shop here again, and encourage others to consider what business you support in our community. The 2 stars is for the one person who returned one of my calls and told me she was sorry, but it was out of her hands. This is the Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

I've lived in this neighborhood for 7 years and support this store despite the poor customer service. I have been greeted a few time, but my husband was with me. I help myself every time. Yesterday, I packed towel sets into a large basket and carried it to the register because no one offered to assist me. Today, I solicited support because I needed curtains so I actually required help. No one bothered to acknowledge that I was there, and my 3 year old was not even quite. I'm over the disrespect. My daughter and I have had 3 terrible experiences with Pottery Barn. This was at the Del Monte center in Monterey. We went in to buy a gift and picked out a set of 4 glasses and a bar set with muddle, spoon, etc. my daughter asked if they had a box for the glasses. After the sales clerk hemmed and hawed she said "oh, I don't think so". Really? I don't THINK so? Either you do or you don't. After a few more questions from us, she said, "oh...yes, this box might work". There was a stack of perfect boxes 3 feet from her. Apparently she didn't want to have to put the glasses in it. So she handed us the box. Two weeks later, my daughter went back to Pottery Barn to buy a birthday gift for me. She wanted 8 glasses, but they only had 2. The sales clerk said that she could give her a list of stores where they might have 6 more, and my daughter would have to call each store herself, give them the sku number and order them that way. Really? I've never, ever been to a high end store that made the customer do the leg work. Then I ordered 8 glasses online from Pottery Barn. When they arrived, I did not like them. I called customer service to ask if they could be returned to our local store. I was sure they could be, but I didn't want to go there and have the lazy clerks tell me I couldn't. I wanted to go with the true info. Well, the customer service rep didn't know ANYTHING! She had no idea anything about returns. She put me on hold for 15 minutes and then told me that I'd need to call the store and see if they carry that glass. If not, then I'd need to ship the glasses back and pay the shipping. Huh? Really? I find it hard to believe they sell things on their website that can't be returned at the store. All in all, we've had 3 bad experiences and neither my daughter nor myself will ever shop there again. Ok I will start in saying we did get helped by someone in the shop that was quite nice and that's gets the one star. We have been furnishing a house where we have fantastic service, delivery and quality from Restoration Hardware, almost perfect from crate and a barrel and pretty much 100% of the purchases from PotteryBarn have been an issue. Below are some choice issues to qualify my rating.. 1. Two of the ladies in the store looked down their nose at us, one even made a sarcastic comment to my wife about this not being 'Ikea'. 2. We purchased a coffee table and they cancelled the order on us the next day. 3. We purchased three telescoping bedside lights of which one worked, one did not telescope and one telescoped and would not lock to the size. 4. We purchased a bench for the porch and they sent it to the wrong house on a rainy day and left it outside without notification. 5. We purchased a custom corner sofa of which they did not line up the locking mechanism for the corner and arm so I had to unscrew it, measure, re-drill and reposition before we could assemble it. It is not as if this is a cheap shop so we were stunned by the contrast in delivery, attention to detail and quality. So not all about the shop but Pottery Barn should be careful who they use to deliver product and their construction leaves a lot to be desired and perhaps some customer service refreshers wouldn't go a miss. read more

Love going into this store, they do a good job at keeping up to date on home decor items, and also the employees don't act snarky when it's clear that my wife and I are just browsing. In addition, the bathrooms were very clean and even decorated very COOL, there was even lotion next to the hand soap. This could be your Pottery Barn couch. Only missing the corner piece. Beware of Pottery Barn company culture. Ordered our sectional last year and arrived missing a piece. I am thinking ok they will make this right. No such luck, they flat don't care, told us we would have to reorder corner piece and now have to wait 3 months. Or we could cancel order and they will just come pick up. No apology just like we are Pottery Barn and I should feel lucky they are talking to me. Unfortunately this particular color is no longer carried in the store, but the employee, Stacey, went out of her way to go find a swatch in the back from a few years ago when they were still carrying the color in-store. This is definitely one of the best places to look for home decor. It is on the pricey side. They sell furniture that is more sophisticated, not so much trendy. They always have beautiful furniture and decor set up around the store. They sell large furniture, kitchen decor, candles, blankets, rugs, etc. They open at 10 am, as everything in the Del Monte shopping center does. Very classy place, I totally recommend. read more

First off THANK YOU FOR HAVING A BATHROOM. I heart bathrooms which is why I always bring them up in my reviews. I don't know why, I have been like this since I was a child.. who's knows. The bathroom was not only clean, but was in the bathroom section of the Pottery Barn and had their soap and some accent/accessories. COOL DEALS. This one is spacious and not filled up to the wall with crap. The boyfriend wanted to look at their beds with the baskets in them and I did not want to go to Valley Fair in San Jose (I could not deal with the mayhem) SO we went where there is always parking and much calmer.. Del Monte. We found a parking spot right near Pottery Barn and went in. I don't know what the deal is with Del Monte Center but for some reason (express and williams sonoma being the only exceptions) asking the older folks is better. The teenagers and people in their mid twenties in the stores we have been to are indifferent and will ask the older folks if you need help and just leave you to browse... tsk tsk. An older woman came up and finally asked if we needed help. She was very informative and helped out in terms of the bed... a shame it wasn't on the floor as a display, but we were able to get a card with the information and she said if we had any other questions or we wanted to order to come back... I went to this location a few weeks ago, having just moved to the area. I was looking to buy two throws, among other items. I was the only customer in the store when I entered- there were at least 3 sales associates present (one of whom was working in the back and came out later). Neither associate greeted me on the floor or asked what I was looking for- none said a word until I first said a 'hello'. None of them looked up from their tasks or away from their computers when I began searching for care instructions on a number of throws (looking for 'machine-washable' as I have cats) even though I was already carrying other items I intended to purchase. I finally had to ask one associate for help- when I did so, she audibly sighed with ill-concealed frustration. She told me they had none of the throws available that I was looking for, then promptly went back to her task. (Oh the irony of working in a consumer service industry, while holding the consumer in obvious contempt!) Finally the associate who had been in the back came out- she was AMAZING and so helpful! She discovered all their stock in the throws I'd been looking for were being used as floor displays, but were available for sale, and he even helped me check them over to ensure there were no snags or damages. I wish I had noted her name as she was such a delight and is the ONLY positive experience I had at this store. We chatted about me being new to the area and she mentioned living in Moss Landing, a little area that my husband and I love. I just received a gift which was a size medium robe. I wanted to exchange for a larger size for the same robe. They wouldn't give me an even exchange. I had to pay extra to exchange for the correct size because the price had gone up since the purchase. The robe was very nice. The service could have been better. read more

I had ordered a glass canister on the website that was back ordered and taking a long time. I was delighted to find out that the Del Monte store had the canister in stock, so I went to pick it up. I was told the price had increased about $5. I asked if they would honor the online price and showed my online receipt. In fact, the in-store canister was marked with the original price, also, but the manager said she wouldn't honor the original price, just the price in the computer. To be honest I was never a fan of Pottery Barn only because I think everyone's house could look like a replica of Pottery Barn if so inclined. Lovely but not very unique. I was also nice to know Del Monte upgraded with a few lovely stores but bummed that it was becoming like any other mall (either way I guess a lot better than it was in the past). So I'm giving it 4 stars because I really like the faux-wood, au natural aka Aspen like line of bedding, lamps and housewares in general they are offering right now. So shi shi sha sha White Winterland chic. I can't get enough of it. I need to buy it all up and save it to decorate my cabin in CO (if and when I could afford one). read more

She had really good ideas and feedback but was tactful and gave us space to decide if we really wanted the items. We ended up getting the whole set and bedding and have been incredibly happy. I rarely write reviews, but was so appalled at the service here that I felt I needed to. Very rude customer service. Will stick to ordering online if I need something or go to another location. I asked someone for help on an item, they said they would send someone else to help me, meanwhile went over to help an older couple. Never sent someone. I waited. Asked another associate. They looked at me like I was a waste of their time and said "sorry we're busy" and walked off while I was responding if anyone else could help at a better time. I bought the Pearce Upholstered Left Arm 3-Piece Wedge Sectional, Down-Blend Wrap Cushions, Premium Performance Basketweave Light Gray about a year ago. The cushions slump, the fabric pills. I have extensive dialogue with customer service, sent pictures, etc. They refused to address it and sent me a sweater shaver for the sofa. I also ordered a leather ottoman which is poorly constructed, with visible staples on the bottom and legs which do not secure well. If there were negative stars, I would use that rating. Unless you cash and carry from this store, you'll have a nightmare of a time actually getting what you purchased delivered. The customer service is a joke and getting furniture from them is a nothing short of a debacle...of course, they manage to get the payment part right without a problem. Purchased a dining room table and chairs, living room couch, chair, coffee table and media center and all these items were delayed in their delivery...the delivery company was rude and unorganized...set up a delivery time, we changed plans to be home to receive the furniture, then changed the time on us despite our telling them we would not be there. They showed up and found no one home. Big surprise...then they delievered the chairs to the billing address. I had to have a friend with a truck pick them up and bring them to the house ( 4 very large boxes) because I was told by Pottery Barn that if UPS picked it up, they would have to deliver it back to the store and they would have to redeliver it...huh? I live in Lodi and the store is in Monterey.. 3 hours away. Still waiting on my media center ( it's now been a month) and I'm being told by Pottery Barn they don't know what to say at this point. They changed distributors and have no idea where it is...when it will be delivered and can't get in touch with the distributor because they don't have their phone lines set up??? What the hell? Never heard of such a thing. I called again this morning looking for information..after being put on hold for 15 minutes. I'm told they will call me back. I'm not holding my breath.... Too bad because the furniture is absolutely beautiful...but not worth the aggravation. I'll go to Crate and Barrel next time. I always hesitate to go into this store. More times than not, the staff just stand behind the counters or walk around and don't offer to help. Many times I've been asked if I'm looking for something and when I tell them what I'm shopping for they just say "oh, ok".. no offer to help. Today I was in the bedding section for a solid 5-10 minutes while an employee worked on some displays and never even offered her help.. even after I expressed that I'm having a hard time figuring out which bedding combination I want. So I just walked out, like I usually do.. I'll just shop online because the staff here has no desire to maintain any sort of customer relationship with their clientele. read more
