I am very pleased with the swivel chair I bought for my LR. And I just received the Amish made solid Cherry bed I ordered. Beautiful! I could select from over 20 wood finishes! Service is A+. Friendly and knowledgeable! Helpful: Scott let me borrow a metal bed frame until my bed arrived. Communication is excellent. Easy to contact, and you speak to an actual person, the owner. Delivery was efficient and competent. Experienced deliverymen. Prices are competitive and fair value. Selection is outstanding. For example, I could select from over 100 upholstery fabrics for the chair I selected. In addition to the showrooms, there are numerous catalogs available online and paper copy. Support small local businesses when you can, especially when they are far better choices than the chain stores.

The styles are mostly traditional American - Shaker, country, and simpler styles, not the more elaborate 19th century American variations on Victorian and pre-war overstuffed - but they do include a lot of fairly stodgy upholstered styles as well. They claim mostly Amish manufacturers, in small lots, and the basic woods are (supposedly) all American-grown - cherry, oak, walnut, hickory, and pine in evidence, not sure about maple and cedar, but the staff say they can order almost any piece in one of the basic woods. The owners are also the sales staff so it's a true small business. The only thing not great about Kugler's is the prices, which are full boat retail price. As in, $300 for a small cabinet, $1000 for a small dining room table, $1500 for an armchair, just for a sample. These are not outliers; they're typical. I've bought unfinished pieces of similar manufactured Amish origin at Adirondack unfinished for significantly less, but - those are unfinished and unupholstered, and the quality isn't really quite as high as the basic stuff at Kugler's. So it's not quite a competition so much as different ends of the same spectrum in the same basic vein. The true differentiator may be that you basically are going to be able to custom-order a piece with the wood, finish, and upholstery of your choice, for the most part; it's not true custom furniture as you're ordering a known type or style but it's pretty close in terms of customization within the range of choices. And they do have some very nice pieces. I'm a little reluctant to go to four stars without some evidence as to the long-term quality of the furniture, but then again you'd be waiting a while for that, presumably, so consider this a placemarker review in the meantime. But I also note I can't really afford to shop here for anything big, so I am out of my league - take that for whatever it's worth in terms of the star rating or the credibility of this reviewer.

We have been customers of Kincaid for over a decade and have furnished our kitchen, dining room, great room and master bedroom there, as well as purchased many unique chairs, benches and tables from Kincaid. We are sticklers for quality in the sea of particle-board furniture offered at the local 800-pound gorillas. Kincaid's furniture is always made from the best materials (solid hardwood and durable leather) and is in a separate (higher) class in comparison to what is available elsewhere. We also have had two minor furniture malfunctions (one due to a toddler harming wood on a stool and the other due to doors not properly aligning on a hutch) and both times Kincaid stood 100% behind their piece and either repaired and/or replaced the damaged items, hassle-free. Go to Kincaid!!

When I reached out about the issue with Emily, I was honestly unsure how it would be handled. Not only did Emily take my concerns seriously, but she went above and beyond by offering an exchange and even arranging a temporary bed while we wait for the new one to arrive. That level of care, responsiveness, and professionalism is truly rare--especially for such a significant purchase--and we really appreciate it. Truly great customer service.

Called Mooradians and they agreed to pick it up to repair it.  It was brought back after they added the center supports that were missing when it was originally delivered.  We were told by their service guy and Bill Mooradian himself that we had removed the center supports that were missing.  An unbelievable claim that we vehemently deny.  The arms looked better on the returned sofa but definitely not completely straight.  The bottom was not straight across the 3 sections and the sofa rocked.  Even within 1 section that is less then 2 feet across it was off by over 1 inch and that is very noticeable.  That is a sign to me that the frame was bent because of the missing support and they hadn't addressed it.  I talked directly with Bill Mooradian and he claimed it was perfectly fine to be that uneven but reluctantly agreed to take it back again. It came back again with little change in the uneven bottom that is still very noticeable and it still rocked.  We were told both times to use the sofa and the rocking would eventually settle out. Plus on one side the power recliner wasn't working.  Their service guy came out again and found where a wire was loose under the sofa from when they worked on it.  I showed him where it wasn't even across the bottom and he claimed that he wasn't told to make it even across the bottom . That was the whole reason they had taken it back to repair it! He would talk to Bill Mooradian about it and one of them would get back to me.  That's several months ago and they never got back to me! They deliver a defective product with missing center supports and then won't repair the resulting bent frame.  Bill has claimed that they often come from the factory like this but ours was not delivered all out of whack and we went back to the store to look at the same sofa on the showroom floor. The arms were straight and it was perfectly straight all the way across the top and the bottom of the sofa.  Beware of their terrible customer support and failure to stand behind their product. This is not a cheap store so avoid them

The workmanship varies, but in general they have what I'd call medium to medium-high quality pieces. They will sell them to you finished at premiums which vary quite a bit from piece to piece, or will give you advice about staining or painting (and will sell you the appropriate paints and stains). If you've never finished an unfinished piece, it's not that hard to get a nice result, although you'll want to start out on a cheap, small piece to get the hang of it. Pine predominates, but they have a half dozen other woods for many of the items ranging from parawood to alder to ash. There's some very nice oak pieces with good grains. The quality of the woods is what I'd call "modern" - finding good furniture wood these days is very difficult, and there are flaws in almost every piece of new wood furniture you can find, but they do reasonable quality control here. We've had a few pieces that had flaws from here, so I encourage you to look at the delivered piece before you take it off the premises - they've willingly exchanged things for us so don't be shy about that. As far as the types of things, they have: bookcases (including corner units), headboards, shelving, kitchen tables and hutches, tables, dressers, desks, and a variety of interesting smaller-run items. They don't have couch/futon frames, however. The stock does vary - they do buying trips periodically - but for the more mainstream pieces they can get virtually any size in any wood or configuration you want. You can also bargain hunt here -- they typically have a few "as is" or end-of-run items at fairly decent discounts. Wood is not cheap, relative to pressboard, but we've priced their stuff against internet-ordered, places like Huck Finn's, and equivalent finished furniture at the mainstream furniture stores, and Adirondack does quite competitively. The staff here have been helpful - primarily Brian, the guy out front most of the times we've been here, who knows his furniture and will go over both the options for something and the finishing how-to with you. Do note it's a smallish operation so you may have to wait for help. Some things I'd like: a sustainability rating on the wood (they don't have anything like this, although they can at least tell you where they bought the piece from, which is more than they can at most furniture retailers), and a delivery service (this is strictly carry-out). And, it should be noted that when they run out of stock of an item, it takes them a long time sometimes to get it back, since they do the buying directly themselves and then periodically. They do have a good-sized warehouse in the back, though. Note: this is in Niskayuna, 12309, on State just on the other side of the Colonie line and below the intersection of Balltown to the south of Mohawk Commons. The Yelp Map seems to give the wrong location because of the "Route 5" addendum. Note also the URL for the store is incorrect - google for Adirondack Wood Shed. Phone number is 518 346 2200, current hours are MWF 10-530, T Th 108 and Sat 10-5. I submitted an update to Yelp but they seem to vary quite a bit in their times to update. I'll delete this section of the review when I see that the Yelp database information is correct.
