Absolutely do not recommend. While I had no issues with my hygienist (the main reason I kept going- that now has left), the overall customer service needs serious improvement. On multiple occasions, they used my old insurance despite several conversations confirming my updated information. Scheduling was also frustrating--appointments were frequently double-booked, leading to wait times of over an hour, even when I had the first appointment of the day. The final straw was being told my appointment wasn't confirmed, even though I had received a call and confirmed it. I was told, "We have a virtual assistant and a customer service person, so I'm not sure who you spoke to--they must not have communicated." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. Sadly, I gave this business another second chance after numerous awful experiences and nothing has improved. I feel obligated to especially warn the military community and urge you to consider a different dental office. I've had numerous issues here over the years, but I'll keep this review to my experience today. I scheduled a general cleaning exam for today 6 months ago at my last cleaning. Last week, I received a text that they overbooked and needed to reschedule my appointment. I'm not sure how I was the patient that needed to be rescheduled when I scheduled 6 months prior, but I digress. They did ultimately keep my appointment the same day, just moved the time up an hour. Fine. I received a text notification of the new time. Another text to complete my paperwork (which I did) and then I arrived 15 minutes prior to my new scheduled time. To really no surprise given my history with this company, they claimed I didn't confirm the appointment so they gave it away. The soonest they can now see me is in a month. I showed them all the texts I did receive, they saw I completed the paperwork but "there's nothing they can do." This was ALREADY a rescheduled appointment because they can't manage their appointment system and they still messed up. Needless to say, after many years and countless second chances, I am done with Potranco Smiles. And I know when they read this they won't care, because customer service is not something they pride themselves on. However, I need to inform all current and future patients, especially military, that this is not the place you want to be. read more

Absolutely Unprofessional and Completely Unacceptable Where do I even begin with this place? My first visit was just for a simple cleaning for my child -- nothing special, nothing terrible -- but seeing dead crickets by the front desk should've been the first red flag. I brushed it off as an isolated incident. Big mistake. Next came the orthodontics appointment. I wasn't told until later that their orthodontist travels between locations -- something that would've been helpful to know before scheduling. We arrived 15 minutes early for a 2:30 p.m. appointment, checked in, and then sat. And sat. And sat. We weren't called back until 3:20 p.m. -- nearly an hour later -- because they apparently "skipped us." Not once, but twice. After finally being seen, we discussed the plan, signed the paperwork, and were told we'd need a few extractions before braces could be completed. The orthodontist placed a few brackets that day "to get things started." Now I realize that was probably just to lock us into the payment plan. Fast forward to extraction day -- the day before the appointment, at 3 p.m., the front desk calls to say there's an "insurance issue" and we'd have to reschedule. Are you kidding me? I had spoken with the front desk multiple times in the weeks leading up to this -- including a week and a half prior -- and not once did anyone mention a problem. My daughter is covered under two employer-based dental plans. There is no excuse for this kind of incompetence. Because of their failure to verify insurance properly, we now have to wait another month or more -- because, remember, their orthodontist only comes to this office once a month. That means I'm now paying for two full months of orthodontic treatment when absolutely nothing has been done. And no, four brackets on her front teeth that aren't even connected to anything don't count as "treatment." To make matters worse, when I expressed frustration, the front desk clerk actually said, "Well, at least I called you today and you didn't find out tomorrow morning." As if that somehow makes it acceptable. The total lack of accountability here is astounding. Bottom line: this office is disorganized, unprofessional, and completely careless with both patients and their time. I would never recommend this place for any dental or orthodontic care. Save yourself the frustration -- go somewhere that actually values their patients and knows how to run a practice. Update: now my daughter has been fired as a patient because they completely dropped the ball and had total lack of accountability. But they said it was because of our call with front desk. I had a referral for dental services from my VA dental clinic. My appointment went well, i was informed that i needed some extra periodontal care. Was told that they would need to request a voucher from the VA before they could do any additional procedures. Was advised to reach out to the VA to ensure they received the request so that Potranco Smiles received the vouchers in a timely manner so that my procedures could be scheduled. One week later i contacted community care and was informed that they never received a request from the dental clinic and that my original referral covers all the services i informed them that needed. I called Potranco Smiles: "I contacted the VA and they never received your request for additional services, but great news, we don't need an additional voucher, the one that was already approved covers my additional services" The receptionist placed me on hold to go speak with her office manager and relayed a message to me that she will "send the request when she had the chance, but she will need a new voucher for those services no matter what the VA told me." It's been over a month since my original appointment where i was told i would NEED these services to stop decline in my dental heath, and i have contacted Community Care (VA) a total of 6 times as well as reached out to Potranco Smiles 3 times (every time they said they hadn't got to it but will when they had the chance, or they will today), and VA has not received a voucher request from Potranco Smiles. The last time i called Potranco smiles to let them know, they said they would reach out to the VA themselves and get back with me. (The front desk staff and office manager's response was rude and off putting) It's been over a week and no response. I called the VA today and they have nothing notated regarding a phone call from the facility nor do they have a voucher request. I was patient at this office around 2023. I got annual checkup with X-ray, dental hygiene, and fill-in done. I moved in 2024 to different and got a new dentist. My insurance company doesn't pay for full X-Ray until certain number of years, so my new dentist requested a transfer of my dental record and X-ray from this office. The administration experience was not pleasant. I had been calling for 3 weeks straight and nothing happened. They kept saying they would email me consent form to sign so they can process the transfer of my documents. No issues was detected to see if there is anything wrong with the system or even efforts to talk with customers on the phone. I rarely write reviews but I had a horrible experience at Potranco Smiles. 40 minutes into my scheduled appointment they tell me they have different levels of cleaning and they were going to charge me hundreds for the type of cleaning they recommended. My insurance covers dental cleanings 100%, and I have never heard of different types of cleanings in my life. Maybe it's a Texas thing, as I did recently move here. About 6 months ago I got a cleaning using the same insurance with no problems at all. It was a good cleaning that was covered 100% by my insurance. Been taking my son for some time and loved how convenient it is since it's super close to my house. I decided to utilize their services for myself and boy do I regret it. To start off, I made an appointment for my regular cleaning and they let me know that they wouldn't be able to do anything since I needed a deep cleaning. (Sort of embarrassing, I know) That was of course after I already paid them. I was confused but was like ok then, I'll schedule something for the earliest future. While I was there I asked a question about cavities and he let me know that I've had over 8 already and he pointed each one by one... That's when I knew I was in the wrong place. I've never had any cavities and for them to say that I had, and with confidence point them out on their computer screen one by one, is absurd. I'm sure they're using someone else's information, which has to be a violation of some sort. I feel that they're just squeezing every penny out of each customer, which is wrong. I would give them a ZERO if I could. My wife and I are on Medicare and have dental, we called and were told they accept it. We made an apptmt for 3 weeks in the future and before we hung up I asked them again about accepting medicare. I asked them, are you sure you are in the network, they assured me we were. You know where I'm going with this... The day of the appointment, I get a call. The office visit is covered but the dentist is not????? What!!! Where does that even make sense? Recently moved to SA. Had to find an orthodontist. Made the appt in back in June. First strike, they canceled one hour before the appt and didn't have another for a whole month. We decided to wait for it. Had the appt in July. They were to call me with a treatment plan. Didn't hear from them. I called three times-strike two. They said they sent it via email. It was sent to the wrong address. Strike three...the plan costs way more than the treatment plan we had previously and we've already made $1500 worth of payments towards. I was told each orthodontist is different, I understand that, but I'm not paying more than the original treatment plan when I had already paid $1500 towards the braces. It's taken me a while to write this review because I expected to move on from this dentist and never think about them again...but I have to share that not only did they sever a nerve underneath my husbands tongue and then try to double charge us (they should have offered a refund) -- but after just doing an appointments with a new dentist I found they lied about our treatment plans...they said my son needed 5 fillings - he needed 1 - they said my daughter had a cavity and needed her baby tooth pulled....she had no cavity and the baby tooth fell out naturally...this is not ethical treatment to fake conditions for insurance payment. Every appointment my son has had here at Potranco Smiles has been wonderful. The staff are extraordinary with babies. Since they were the first dentists or anyone to prowl around in his mouth at his teeth for that fact. They did it in such a non frightening way, leaving him smiling and happy throughout the entire appointment. Every time, we leave with a cute little goody bag full of a sticker, toothbrush and a kids toothpaste. Oh and we can never forget about the balloon! For his first of many visits beginning at the early age of about 7 months, I've never experienced anything off putting or negative with this dental establishment. I found this dentist via Yelp and the reviews. Today was my first appointment on a Saturday which is easier to do with kids and work. The front staff and waiting area is very inviting and relaxing. My appointment was at 12 but I was not see till 12:30 I was not in a rush and I was ok with it as I was a new patient because the customer service from Dental hygienist Chris and the doctor was amazing, they you-feel comfortable. I've only been to Potranco smiles for a couple cleanings for myself and my kids (1 year). I had an appointment today for my family which was scheduled 6 months ago. At no point was I told that they changed dentist and our visit would no longer be covered by my insurance. Not even when they called to confirm the appointment two days prior. They waited until I showed up. This is bad customer service! They apologized and would have still done the cleanings at about $50+, but our cleanings are covered 100%, so no thank you. I can not say enough about the amazing service that I received from Potranco Smiles. From the front office to the back. I really enjoyed my visit. The staff was very informative and educated on the services needed. They did not pressure you into getting certain services. They allow you to make the decision. They pay very close attention to your care and make you feel as if you are the only one in the office. I went in for a tooth extraction. The office was cold and they provided me a blanket to stay warm while the medication took affect to numb my mouth. The television on the ceiling is a great perk. Had a great experience! After having to reschedule appointments for 4 of us multiple times we finally made it in. Every time I called for the reschedule they were extremely helpful and never made me feel bad about calling in. The visits went well. 17 yo, 3 yo, 1 yo and myself and we were all seen at our scheduled times. The staff from the front desk to assistants and dentist were all great.
