I strongly urge any parent considering this daycare provider to read this review. As parents who…read morehave moved several times and had our children enrolled in various daycares and liked every single one, I strongly recommend against enrolling your children in little sproutlings, particularly during COVID. Pros: Teaches children independence Warm affect with children Cons: Provider travelled internationally to several locations in a two-week period without using COVID precautions, i.e. masks in large crowds indoors (a wedding) contracted COVID, shut down for a month and then tried to pass that costs onto the families. When we disagreed with provider's decision to pass those costs down to us by withholding our security deposit, provider retaliated and requested that our children be disenrolled in her care. Children paint and do creative activities but there is a lack of education as in prior daycares. Provider is unprofessional, unaccountable and often harsh in her communication. This was the feedback provided by at least one other parent reference but because we desperately needed care in the pandemic, we did not weigh this advice as heavily as we should have. Do not recommend.

I cannot speak highly enough of Little Sproutlings, and the negative review posted below couldn't…read morediffer more from our experience. Ayesha has cared for our daughter for the past year (since she was about 1.5 years old), and she has thrived in the activity-filled, structured yet warm environment. Ayesha clearly bonds with all the children in her care, understands their personalities and what makes them tick, and partners with parents to make sure that they thrive in her care. On the issue of compliance with COVID procedures/conduct throughout the pandemic: In my experience Ayesha has adhered strictly to all the required protocols (mask-wearing, temperature checks, keeping children home for any symptoms of illness, etc.). We have never been charged for unexpected closures of the daycare. Ayesha has always behaved responsibly, transparently and taken her role as caregiver to our daughter with the utmost seriousness, and we trust her implicitly. Little Sproutlings is clearly more than a business for her-it is her vocation. Any family seeking a loving, in-home daycare experience for their little one in the Olney area would be lucky to join Little Sproutlings!

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel other parents deserve to know our experience so…read morethey can make an informed decision. We had been coming to Goldfish Swim School in Gaithersburg for about two years with both of our daughters. There are definitely positive things about this school: a warm pool, a bright and kid-friendly environment, and some instructors who are kind and patient. My children truly loved the water and looked forward to their lessons. However, our experience as a family ended on a very disappointing note. My younger daughter is a playful, energetic six-year-old. She loves to splash, move, and interact with people in the water. Instead of speaking with me about any concerns (I was present at every class), the management decided to remove her from the program, describing her behavior as "aggressive" toward an adult instructor. As a parent and as someone who watched every lesson, I strongly disagree with this interpretation. What I saw was normal, emotional child behavior that could have been redirected by a more experienced teacher. No one approached me during class, no one asked to talk, and there was no warning or attempt to work together. The first and only conversation was an email informing me that she would no longer be allowed to attend. This decision was made right before Thanksgiving, turning what should have been a peaceful family holiday into a very stressful and emotional situation for us. I had to sit down with my six-year-old and explain why she suddenly couldn't go back to the place she loved. Since I cannot take my children to different schools and schedules, I ultimately had to withdraw both of my daughters, including the older one who had no behavioral issues at all. In the end, the school lost two long-term students and a loyal family not because we didn't value swimming, but because of how the situation was handled and how little effort was made to find a solution. I believe this program may work well for very calm, highly focused children who easily follow instructions and don't get too excited or distracted. But if your child is more spirited, emotional, playful, has trouble with concentration, or needs a more flexible teaching style, I would strongly recommend you observe a class carefully and ask specific questions about how they handle different types of behavior, how they communicate with parents, and what steps they take before excluding a child. My hope is that the school will learn from this experience, invest in more training for staff, and improve communication with families. Children deserve understanding, not exclusion -- and parents deserve to be part of the conversation before such drastic decisions are made.

As of 2020, I found the director rude and wondered why she's even working in this industry. Many good teachers that we grew to love, quit soon after she was hired and a couple of them told us why. Her new hires (teachers/contractors) in my opinion weren't as high quality as the others and we saw/experienced too many incidents that we could not tolerate for our children. We demand respect and a caring and safe environment for our children. It felt like the regional head did the bare minimum for us. I wish people working in this industry had a better moral compass.

They moved from Fishers Lane into a newly renovated building on Twinbrook in the summer of 2015. The center is beautiful with an art area and an indoor "movement matters" zone, and a natural outdoor play area with a mud kitchen for unstructured play for the older kids. The center provides care from 3 months until they are ready to go off to kindergarten. It is NAEYC certified, and provides lots of enrichment for the kids. It sometimes makes me sad that my daughter spends more time with her teachers than with me (at least, more hours awake) but they fill her day with so many activities that I don't think I would be able to manage at home. Great, responsive, caring staff in a bright, clean, and safe environment. We get pictures every day of what she was doing. I believe this is one of the best daycare centers in the area.

There was some staff turnover in my older child's classroom last school year that wasn't ideal, but the current team is fantastic and seems really committed for the long haul. The teachers are caring and attentive, and it's amazing to see how much progress both kids are making, especially when I compare to peers at other schools. My 3y/o is writing words already(!), and my infant is getting way more attention and support through bottle-feeding transition, crawling, teething, etc. than we ever got at my eldest's first school. 7a-6p hours are great for us (both working parents), and above all, both of our kids are happy and genuinely thriving here. As a parent that's all I can really ask for.
