Not only did they have some art stuff set up (cool art cars and some not-so-country-kitch quilts were hanging out near and in the barn). They also had a bunch of activities like a drum circle. Music does indeed soothe the savage beast- kiddo was having a meltdown then once the drums started, he calmed down immediately and the beats kept his attention for almost an hour! We were greeted by 3 staff members (apologies I don't remember their names). I initially thought this was just a venue to smash stuff but it was explained that this is a mental health venture aimed at spiritual healing. The wooden structure isn't huge so you cant get running starts or make any long over hear arm movements, but it ended being just the right amount of space to get your smash on. Initially I was caught up in the novelty of smashing things, but a point in time came where that novelty faded and I found myself tapping into an aggression and emotion I did not go there with. It wasn't until I stood there out of breath with my hands sore that I truly understood what this place was for. That session provided a space and avenue for me to truly let go, for just a little bit. A challenge was issued to me to put in work on the water heater and I made a decent hole in it but that thing was tough. They sure don't make em like they used to.

The site was well furnished with safety gear (goggles, gloves, etc.), tools (bats, sledgehammers, etc.) and objects to smash (microwave oven, water heater, glass bottles, etc.). This included everything in all cabinets in a very stocked kitchen and two bathrooms, three King sized beds, three very large mounted TVs along with their mounting, five couches and all screws and wall hangings. This review is long overdue. I needed time before writing it because I was recovering from a…read morepersonal tragedy. Around February 2026, in the middle of grieving a significant personal loss, we had to relocate from Virginia to Dallas. It was already one of the most difficult periods of our lives, and we trusted Gorilla Haulers to make at least the moving process less stressful. Instead, it became one of the worst experiences my family has ever been through. We spoke with Eli, provided a detailed inventory list, and chose Gorilla Haulers based on their online ratings and reviews, as well as the assurance that we would have an experienced moving crew. We trusted those promises. On moving day, 5 movers arrived. We were surprised by how many people showed up, but we didn't think much of it at the time. It quickly became obvious that they were not professional movers. Most of them spent time watching YouTube videos, chatting, laughing, and generally having fun instead of working. They were not taking the job seriously at all. They moved at an incredibly slow pace, and they even admitted that it was their first day on the job. This was completely different from what Eli Jones had told us about sending an experienced crew. What should have been a routine move turned into an exhausting 11 hour ordeal. Boxes were packed with very few items in them, many belongings were packed carelessly, and several items were damaged. Because the crew worked so slowly and inefficiently, they eventually ran out of time, leaving approximately 10-15% of our belongings behind. We were left to deal with the remaining items ourselves after an already exhausting day. To make matters worse, we were charged nearly double what we had expected. Considering the quality of service we received, it felt completely unjustified. Since then, we have completed another interstate move with a different moving company, and the experience was night and day. That move was organized, efficient, professional, and completed exactly as it should have been. It confirmed that what we experienced with Gorilla Haulers was not normal--it was simply unacceptable. I'm sharing this review not out of anger, but in the hope of helping other families avoid the experience we had. We chose this company because of its online reviews, but based on our experience, those reviews did not reflect the quality of service we received. I would encourage anyone considering Gorilla Haulers to look beyond the ratings, do thorough research, and be very cautious before trusting them with your move. Looking back on that day still brings tears to my eyes. It added unnecessary stress and heartbreak during one of the hardest times in our lives. I sincerely hope no other family has to go through what we did.

I feel blessed for having found out about The McSisters Foundation and the services that they offer for the youths in the community. Everyone at the foundation are kind and answered all my questions. My children are more focused on their education and it has added drive in their desire to excel.
