For example Couscous is a typical dish here, but differently from North Africa, it's prepared with a fish sauce. Just great. I was in Trapani for a few hours today and decided to spend them enjoying local food. I came across this restaurant by accident. I must say I'm very suspicious of restaurants here nowadays, the quality has dropped incredibly as the area has become more and more touristy. Since the traditional couscous takes 6 hours to make, almost all restaurants catering to tourists serve horrible pre-cooked stuff and pass it for authentic, or they get it delivered ready-made, which upsets me very much. The first thing I asked here was whether the couscous was home made, fresh and prepared according to tradition. They said yes. It wasn't. I was pretty disappointed, also because they charged 13 euros for a portion. The antipasti were ok-ish but nothing special and expensive. The pasta with fish was not bad but the noodles were basically raw. I was also upset me by the owner's attitude, advertising everything as great, home made and traditional when in fact it wasn't. I'm not only referring to the couscous. At the end of the meal they offered us a shot of a "fantastic herb liquor made with their own hands". Too bad I saw it being poured from a bottle of a known liquor brand.... We ended up paying 107 euros for 4 pasta dishes and one antipasti platter to share, plus 1 litre of local house wine from a jug. If you guys want to eat traditional Trapani food, look elsewhere, you may get a much better fare for much less money.

When we noticed that, the rude waitress was completely ignorant. On the top of it, the forced service fee of 4euros was added in the bill. Not recommended, I would say it is a simply the tourist trap basing on low expectations of the foreign vistors.

We started off with a cocktail at the bar. Our bartender was charming. We were given some tasty snacks to accompany our drinks. The outdoor tables at the restaurant have the same breathtaking view. The waitstaff were lovely and attentive. The home made bread, tomato butter and house olive oil were excellent. The chef sent out some excellent small bites to start. The wine list was good, with a lot of fairly priced selections. My wife and her friend started off with an excellent salad. My buddy and I enjoyed ring pasta served over meat sauce. We also really liked our fried fish entrees. Our waitress recommended the lobster and pasta special to my wife and her friend. They decided to split an order. I had read that lobster and some of the fish were priced by weight, but didn't give it another thought. The waitress brought out a nice lobster and showed it to us. Imagine our surprise when we were charged 180 euros for this single dish. I am from Manhattan and have eaten at expensive restaurants all over the world. This is the most expensive entree that I have ever paid for, even when split between two people. I was shocked and a bit embarrassed. This put a damper on our evening. I would happily enjoy another meal at this special location, but buyer beware when it comes to entrees priced by weight!

Live soft piano music drifted across the terrace where we were seated. The food was very delicious and crafted from locally sourced ingredients, including their own olive oil served with their freshly baked breads and breadsticks. As others have noted the view from La Terrazza degli Dei is spectacular (the Temples are illuminated at night) which only added to the experience of the evenings. Breakfast is another treat as it is served on the lower terrace of the restaurant with an expansive choice of items and with a tower of assorted pastries delivered to each table (and including a morning view of the Temples).
