The owner/operator of this bookstore told my mother that "she wouldn't let anyone use their credit-- she wouldn't make any money that way!!" and so my mother, being a very polite person who hates to make a fuss, left in shock. Needless to say, my mother does not go to this store anymore-- and we tell everyone we know in the area to avoid it like the plague!!
