Whether it's a solo trip for a quick purchase or a meeting spot for a quick bite and leisurely stroll, they have everything you need and can cater to any in search of some good books without the secondhand hassle. The open courtyard at the entrance has a bar offering light lobster options and wine. The floor plan has a winding maze-like layout making your browsing experience much more interesting. They also host book signing events with local authors so checking their social media pages is a good way to sneak peak what's in store. They have something for every reader and even plenty of independent and local newspapers. The staff is very helpful and they're quick to help you find whatever material you're searching for. The prices are reasonable and there's plenty of categories to choose from. It's perfect to come here when you want a chill activity without the hustle and bustle. There are deals on the wine bottles during the week so check their calendar. I recommend this place over the conglomerate booksellers because they really support local business owners and their prices are extremely attractive for the range they offer.

Mitchell Kaplan founded Books & Books in 1982 in a 500 sq ft space in Coral Gables when he realized that he loved books more than going to law school. Somehow this independent book seller has managed to stay in business in a time when most books are bought online. One of the ways they have stayed relevant is by hosting over 60 author events every month. Books & Books sponsors one of my favorite events every November, the Miami Book Fair, when 300 hundred authors converge on the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College for a week of one of a kind literary events. The fair was started in 1984 by Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus President, Eduardo J. Padrón and Mitchell Kaplan in partnership with the Miami library system. Many famous people, artists, athletes, politicians, and celebrities have come to Miami to speak about their books at the fair. It is now the largest literary festival in the country. I discovered this small Books & Books outpost while exploring Bal Harbour Shops. It might be one of the only stores I can afford in the entire mall. As soon as you walk in the heavenly smell of books engulfs you. I wish they sold it is a perfume. On the wall and tables are a good selection of the latest best sellers, popular fiction, children's book, and non fiction. They also sell reading glasses. In a time when most books stores have been shuttered, it is wonderful to see that Books & Books has managed to keep the literary loving community engaged.

I sent a package and cost me well over $150.00 and was promised 3-5 days delivery it's been weeks…read moreand it never got there. They don't answer their phone when you call either. So there is no way to claim. On top of it they were rude and unhelpful when I had to seek shelter inside their store when one of their Amazon and USPS delivery people gaslighted me yelling at me when I asked the USPS driver to please move her (illegally parked) white unmarked vehicle from behind my parked car so I could get out. Suddenly The Amazon worker rushed out of her truck and over to me. I had gotten out to ask the USPS driver after three times to please move and then I decided to get the ID of the vehicle as that was my only recourse. The Amazon worker rushed at me saying I was harassing the USPS driver. I moved quickly into my car for safety but she followed me and she banged on my glass screaming at me "what is wrong with you white people" They Karenized me gaslighting the situation when they were being aggressive. When I ducked into their store to ask them to please get their delivery people off of me they told me I had to leave that it was "too loud" instead one of them went outside to chat with the Amazon worker and smiled as he left the store to talk to her I felt threatened so instead I called 911 as the Amazon worker was outside the shop not letting me leave. I will never set foot in this place again. They work with bullies and thugs. Meanwhile I was late to work and the cops did nothing either. Never set foot in this bizarre palace again - and I escalated the situation to Amazon, because this shop did nothing to palliate that the drivers that work with them bully their customers and they don't care that they block traffic for their purposes

I was actually feeling good that day because I had taken the time to do my hair and makeup, which is not easy for me given that I am currently undergoing physical therapy and treatment for nerve damage and other medical issues. When it was my turn, the manager, Beatriz, turned her back and asked the employees behind her, "Who wants to take a passport photo?" It immediately felt as though she was not interested in assisting me. A young employee wearing glasses, who appeared to be fairly new, ended up helping me. The first photo looked acceptable on the screen, although I was not completely happy with it. I was feeling somewhat shy with so many people around, so I did not initially voice my concerns. However, once the photo was printed, I realized I could not imagine using it as my passport photo. I politely asked, "Can we take it again?" The employee agreed and proceeded to take additional photos. I believe employees who provide this service should be patient and understanding. People come in carrying burdens and struggles that may not be visible to others. After selecting another photo, I asked if it could be printed so I could see how it looked. Printed photos often appear different from what is displayed on the screen. At that point, the employee walked behind the counter to the printer area. I overheard Manager Beatriz tell her, "If she doesn't like this one, you need to tell her we can't print it again because if she doesn't like it, we'll have to keep printing it again and again." She made this comment while holding my photo and speaking to the young employee. The employee then came over to me and said that if they printed the next photo and I did not like it, they would not be able to print another one. I responded that this was fine, but that I was not willing to pay for something I was unhappy with. The only way to properly evaluate the passport photo was to see the printed version. When the employee attempted to print the photo again, she brought me the wrong image. I had made it very clear which photo I had selected. I calmly and politely tried to explain the mistake while she was standing next to me. Instead of listening, she suddenly and loudly yelled directly in front of my face, "I don't have time to waste." I was shocked. My entire demeanor changed because I could not believe what I had just heard. Why was it considered acceptable to speak to a customer in such a disrespectful manner? I mention my disability because the employees had no idea what it took for me to make it into the store that day and even stand for a photo. At one point, I overheard Manager Beatriz speaking about me in the back of the store with a tall dirty-blonde employee and another employee with black hair. While standing together in a group, she stated in Spanish, "No sé, es que la veo y me entra algo por dentro." I sincerely hope the store's security cameras have audio because God is my witness to everything that occurred. In fact, while I was waiting, I smiled at Beatriz because she appeared stressed, and I was simply trying to be kind. I understand what it means to work with the public. I have worked in healthcare and customer service, and I know that professionalism, patience, and respect are essential. Unfortunately, Beatriz and the other employee did not demonstrate those qualities. As a manager, Beatriz also refused to provide me with the name of the employee who yelled at me. From the moment I entered the store, I was polite, respectful, and professional. I left feeling upset, with my heart racing and my hands shaking. The incident was extremely triggering for me given my medical condition and nerve damage. I believe Store Owner Luis Dominguez should seriously reconsider who is managing this location. Customers deserve to be welcomed and treated with kindness, professionalism, and respect. Extremely disappointed with the service I received. To make matters worse, I was not even satisfied with the final passport photo, yet I still paid for it. I refuse to remain silent because this behavior was completely uncalled for and unacceptable. The incident has taken an emotional toll on me, and I hope it serves as a learning opportunity for those who witnessed it. To this day, I still cannot believe that an employee yelled at me simply for trying to ensure I received a passport photo I was comfortable paying for. This was a deeply disappointing and unprofessional experience.

I was helped by Anielke when I came in to pick up 200 cardboard boxes in varying sizes (as small as 6"x6"x6" to 14"x14"x8", and tons of others listed on their websites). Their website is accurate, which made it so easy to print out the shopping cart of items I needed and hand over the list. I didn't even need to purchase in bundles, they allowed to me to purchased the exact numbers I needed! They allowed me to back my U-Haul into the loading zone, and their staff pulled every item for me in under 15 minutes. I just kind of sat back and enjoyed the break. Note, there is a minimum $50 spend here, and your GPS will definitely take you the wrong way to get here, as it's located on a one-way street. Learn from my mistake, turn right onto NW 16th St before Totalpack, and take an immediate left at the stop sign onto a street without signs. It'll be right there on your right.

So I asked about purchasing a box, they said it was $5 (excessive) and I showed a competitors price which was half of theirs and they said oh no we're not going to match that our quality is better. So I said ok what makes it better? She said it's double walled, so I showed her the description of the competitor and sure enough it was the same exact box. She then said ok well we're not going to match that. Search TM Packaging (or any other packaging company) if you're in Miami if you want better prices. This store has a 100%+ markup on competitors. Ridiculous. I will be removing my mailbox after the end of the month.
