The dumpling idea sounded just excellent to me so I headed to this spot for their hot & sour soup with dumplings. Upon entering you're greeted by a hostess that speaks quite the broken English. You can place your order immediately and find a seat. The crowd is almost 100% Asian - always a good sign. I got my order within a few minutes. The soup, which is my favorite type, was not good. Its most notable flavour is salt, and a tad too much of it. Hot & sour soup is one of my go-to dishes in Chinese restaurants, so I know this one was below par. The DUMPLINGS inside that soup... Now that's a whole different story. When they said "master dumpling" they meant it. The soup comes with 10 (!) hand made pork dumplings inside ($10.50 AUD). Those are pure heaven and very well made. I saw other dishes come out of the kitchen, they all looked great. I noted that most patrons ordered something to eat and a steaming basket of dumplings to go along - that's probably the way to go here. Stick with their dumplings and you will leave happy. Come with an eating partner, value for your money is very good as well.

I haven't had Korean BBQ in ages so I was on the lookout for a good place to try in Melbourne. A…read morerandom local suggested to me to try Woodo Korean BBQ so I figured it was worth a shot. It's located right beside a Subway. We dropped in on a Saturday evening (5:30pm) right before they opened. There was already a few people lined up like us waiting to get inside. Always a good sign, especially when most of them were Koreans. The menu is massive with half the menu dedicated to KBBQ sets (beef, pork, wagyu or a combination of meats). The rest is split into hot pot, banquet ($60.00 AUD/person), beef, pork, entree, noodle, stone pot, soup and beverages. They also were advertising two really cheap lunch specials ($6.00 for curry don or curry spaghetti; $7.90 for don). Pretty dang cheap! Guys, guys, guys. The service here is UNBELIEVABLE. Yes, it deserves all capital letters. We sat upstairs and they constantly checked up on us, brought out extra banchan, refilled our sauce tray and cooked all of our meats to perfection. We were beyond impressed. - Banchan - this was already set up on the table as soon as we sat down. There was marinated potatoes, kabocha with raisins and almonds, pickled vegetables, pickled onion and some sort of bean dish. - Beef & pork set (#8) ($76.00 AUD) - the menu says this can be shared between two but it easily filled the three of us. You get 400g of marinated beef ribs, 400g of pork belly, soup (we opted for the silken tofu soup with pork, egg and vegetables) and 2 bowls of steamed rice. - Vegetables - they start the grill off by cooking a mix of pineapple, potato, onion, carrots and kabocha. - Silken tofu soup - this needs it's own writeup because it was that amazing. One of the best soups I've ever had! Comes out piping hot and full of flavour, depth and complexity. It's spicy, the tofu is silky smooth and pork plentiful and tender. My favourite thing we ate. - Egg - we originally thought this was the soup but it wasn't. Almost like an egg foo yan; incredibly light, creamy and airy. - Lettuce wraps - these are great to wrap with the meat, especially the pork belly. Note: it's $3.00 AUD for another order but our waitress was sweet and gave us a plate for free! - Marinated shallots - Seaweed - Pineapple sorbet - to end things on a high, we were given complimentary dessert. Their own homemade pineapple sorbet with a slice of strawberry. Refreshingly light with a great texture. One of my favourite meals! Incredible service and delicious KBBQ. I'd come back again.
