Long post. I'm sharing this traumatic experience so others can be aware of what can take place in a board and train program. I took my two pups (1 1/2 yrs and 10 mths old) for a 3 week board and train program in July to Positive Splash (at the time she was located in Milton, FL, she has since moved to an area past Pensacola, FL). I had heard good things about her "in home" program 3 years ago and her fb posts appeared to be wonderful. My pups had already had group puppy training and the older pup had private training. With the concern of smaller dogs and wildlife in our area I wanted a good recall as well as work thru some other issues that we needed extra help with. A 3 week program was recommended by Tiffany, the owner and that is what we chose. During the 3 weeks I received only positive text messages from Tori, the training manager and never was there any mention of any health issues with my pups. When we went to pick up our pups, we heard dogs barking/crying as in distress. It did not sound like our pups but we discovered it was in fact our pups. The 1 1/2 yr old was carried out to us and we immediately noticed his ribs and hip bones were protruding, his ears were back and he was very lethargic. When he was set down we discovered a large fluid filled sac hanging from his chest. Tori said that the sac was not there earlier and called Tiffany the owner. Tiffany asked to speak to me and said he was fine earlier (I'm not sure how an emaciated dog is "OK"). We were in shock and our only thought was to go to the ER vet. We immediately drove to the ER vet and realized the younger pup was lethargic as well, had what appeared to be red burns around his lips and his stomach was distended. We decided we would have both checked out. Both pups had lost 10% of their body weight in those 3 short weeks (I have vet records with their weight, photos from the weekend before drop off and my Ring video from the morning of drop off), reeked of urine, their white fur was stained brown, and the insides of their paws were raw. The 1 1/2 yr old had fever, his breathing was labored and the very painful fluid filled sac was bruising from an injury (not sure if he was physically abused or their extremely tight harness they used caused the injury). The younger pup had swollen lymph nodes, had pnemonia, had hookworms, scabs on his face and was severely Constipated. They Both stayed in the ER hospital for almost 2 days and the younger pup had to go back to ER due to complications of the pnemonia. The 1 1/2 yr old walked around crouched as if he was expecting to be hit for awhile after he returned home. My pups are now aggressive towards one another and it appears that the "training" that they were to receive was not fully received. Proof shows in the video they provided to us. I reported this incident to SRC Animal Services, however the officer stated her investigation only showed the facility was in good shape. There have been two other complaints reported that I know of, one from an ex employee. I have sent a certified letter with all ER records, bills, as well as pictures to the owner and have not received any response. This incident has been very stressful for both our pups and us humans. I do not know what took place in those 3 weeks and it makes me sick to think what might have happened. Please be careful and do lots of research before you leave your animals somewhere.

    My sweet puppies relaxing.

The training sessions have been going very well, and her instructions and feedback are always clear. I can see progress every day with my puppies. I really appreciate that she steps in to help correct an error when necessary, but also takes the time to observe what you are doing first. She evaluates whether it is something that truly needs her input, something you can correct yourself, or simply a one-time mistake, which makes the learning process for me better since I am also able to catch my own mistakes and get assistance when needed. Rashelle has also been extremely responsive and communicative throughout the entire process. What I appreciate most is her ability to truly listen, not just to what we think we want, but to what we are actually trying to achieve. I often came in with a clear idea of what I thought we needed, and she took the time to ask thoughtful questions about our ultimate goals. Through those more in-depth conversations, she was able to better understand our family's needs and find the most effective training approach, often offering alternate or better solutions that made more sense for our dogs and our lifestyle.

We signed up for obedience training with Rashelle and found her very personable and knowledgeable. She was the second trainer that we tried and was a complete 180 from our first training experience, which had emphasized dominance and fear based techniques, something that really didn't work well for us. When we worked with Rashelle, I found she had a realistic approach but was also conscious of maintaining the presence of patience, kindness, and compassion from me towards my dog . She listened to my concerns and made me feel heard. My dog and I have a much better relationship now and I incorporate the concepts she's taught us into many aspects of our day to day training and living. Thanks Rashelle!

I have just recently finished a Happy Hound training program with my 14-month-old Poodle mix with Tara Siefring of the Happy Hound, and the difference in our stubborn little girl, Jackie, is like night and day. Jackie is not an aggressive dog, but she is quite hard-headed, and like most young, confident dogs, she wants to do what she wants to do. But after our first session with Tara, Jackie was already responding, and by the third week of training, I felt comfortable enough to take Jackie into the park near my home off-leash. Of course three weeks is not the whole story, and Jackie and I have a lot more work to do, but we are on the right path. And not only is she better behaved, but maybe even more important, I have a clearer idea of what it takes to lead her to better behavior. So Jackie and I have both learned a great deal about better behavior from Tara! Tara herself is knowledgeable, dedicated, and great to work with. She'll come to your house for private training, or board your dog for more intensive work. After your dog finishes a Happy Hound program successfully, Tara offers ongoing Saturday morning group sessions for socialization and learning new techniques/tricks. She also maintains a Facebook group for her clients, and her Happy Hound website is packed with all sorts of dog information. Our training involved the use of an electronic collar, but STOP! Don't go away because of that! These are not the scary "shock collars" from years ago. Tara had me hold the receiver unit in my hand before she ever put it on Jackie, and even at a setting of 20 (out of 100), I could barely feel a buzz. And that was MUCH lower than the setting we use for Jackie. Jackie has now learned that when the collar goes on, it's time for fun, so it is effective, but it's not a threat to her. So, if you have reservations about using an electronic collar, I hope you'll re-think your position and give it a try. You won't be sorry. It should be clear by now that I highly recommend Tara Siefring and the Happy Hound for your dog training needs! You and your dog will be happier for it!

We tried different training techniques, research, and after months of nothing truly addressing the aggressive - territorial behavior, we knew we needed help. She was scaring people when they would come into our home. Putting her in another room (even in her kennel which is her safe space) made her become destructive and worsened her anxiety. Lorenzo's training style is much more than just obedience. It is about training your dog to have confidence in you and to respect you as the leader. Daniel educated us about what was driving Piper's behavior, what her body language means and what she is communicating when she behaves a certain way. He was incredibly patient and thorough with his teaching to my husband and me. He explained everything to us and ensured we were comfortable and understanding of the training techniques. We saw improvement in Piper in just one session. We had three more sessions with Daniel before she boarded with him. Piper now is confident instead of anxious, listens readily, and is substantially less anxious/aggressive when people come into the house and they get to see how loving our Piper girl is. We have one more session with Daniel and we have already seen such a drastic and incredible improvement! The hardest part of the training is training ourselves to be consistent. Daniel truly made an incredible difference for her and taught us skills that will help keep Piper and others safe. Daniel has a deep passion and love for dogs, and we are so glad we worked with him!

After working on some of Stieg's undesirable behaviors & teaching him some basic commands, I decided to enlist the help of a professional Trainer. After 6 months of researching & interviewing numerous Trainers, Ashley Arnold Hersel of AAA K9 Academy.com, located in Loxley, AL was my top pick. Of course I was nervous after reading horror stories about bad Trainers, but I really felt a connection with Ashley after speaking with her. She owned Malinois' herself & was knowledgeable of the breed. So off my Boi went for a 2 week Board & Train with Ashley. It was a long, hard separation for me. Well, when I arrived to pick Stieg up, I was overjoyed to see my crazy, goofy, comical, sweet, loving, playful Stieg in Great Shape with new manners to boot! Ashley worked wonders in 2 weeks. She helped me with follow-up sessions to be a better Handler. Stieg was always excited to see Ashley again. She really made a connection with my Boi.
