Prior to sending my dog Connolly, I read every single review I could find. I didn't sleep a wink…read morethe night before he was dropped off and even shed a tear or two. I can now, without a shadow of a doubt, say sending him to Sorenson was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Connie has jumped out of a moving car (luckily turning into a driveway), broken a plate glass door, and threatened to rupture ear drums with his piercing demand barking to name a few. When visiting him for his coming home training, he was truly a changed dog. He was calm, attentive, and eager to show what he learned. THIS was the goal. I have trained my previous dogs, but had finally met my match. I am so confident that he has the tools now to succeed and expand his world by getting to go places and meet new people. Max was our trainer. I highly recommend him and suggest you request him. When I went for MY training for how to continue this work at home, it was clear to see he loved my dog and my dog absolutely loves him. Connolly is an Irish Setter mix and stubborn as heck, for him to adore the person who has effectively stopped him from being a little tyrant speaks volumes. Max gave us detailed instructions as well as amazing photos and updates throughout Connie's stay. It is clear that this isn't just a job for Max, dogs are his passion. He did the arduous task of training Connie and it is now up to me to reinforce all that he has learned so he doesn't lose it! So person at their wits end with the dog they love, I hope this review calms any nerves you may have about sending your dog to Sorenson for training. Ask for Max, I promise you won't regret your decision!

They feed your pups remarkably late in the morning so often when we pick them up at 10ish they have not been fed. The owner is over the top crazed about drop offs or pick ups that are not at the scheduled time and cannot tolerate change, so if you live miles away and you can't exactly figure out your time to site you will be chastised and told to not do that. I WILL NOT BE GOING THERE ANYMORE. It cost too much money to board the pups there and deal with terrible customer service, paying for additional days because of limited pick-up times is too much for me. The dogs might like it, but I don't.

We worked on care coordination to relieve some of his stress with vet visits, learned how to manage nail trims at home, strengthened obedience skills, prepped him for his Canine Good Citizen test, plus learned some fun new tricks. Perhaps the MOST helpful skill I learned was how to be more in tune with Clover and maneuver in ways that build on his already existing strengths. I originally took him to another training camp in Wentzville for a few months for training hoping to find someone that knew how to help me handle him- no luck, literally zero improvement months later and lots of money spent. Then I took him to K9 Kamp and things changed. I sent him for the couple week program with very little hope of ever controlling him and super super fearful that all the training would "break" his spirit. When I got him back I knew instantly that the right decision was made. He listen when we told him the first time, wasn't going after other dogs, and still had his spirit!!! The difference is night and day and I honestly wish I would have known about this place before I spent a bunch of money with other trainers who didn't know how to train a dog like this. If you are on the fence like I was- do it. You won't regret it. Yes, it is a little sad not having your pup for a few weeks but it is 100% worth it when you don't have the stress in your life anymore from a dog that just doesn't listen. They are known for their training program cross country- it took us a month just to get in so you know they are good!
