Dr. Brant Pedersen has been my chiropractor for 8 years. He has helped me fully recover from serious injuries in short periods of time. This review is about my most recent experience with him and his colleague, Dr. Eliot Foad. I am a rock climber and injured my left shoulder in December 2024. I saw him shortly after and recovered through the adjustment/treatment visits and rehab exercises he prescribed. However, I re-injured it in January 2026 and had been doing rehab exercises since then with little progress. I finally went back -- I live in San Francisco, so the commute is tough! -- two weeks ago, this time for pain in my lower back. It turned out I had been straining it through poor weightlifting form. He adjusted me, advised me on what to avoid while lifting, and I felt like a new person almost immediately (though the body does take a few days to fully recover). He also suggested a novel treatment called shockwave therapy for my shoulder and elbow, where I had developed tendinitis from climbing, along with a compression arm band for use when climbing or lifting. I completed the shockwave therapy on my shoulder and elbow with Dr. Foad, who is also highly knowledgeable and a genuine pleasure to talk to. A few days later, I felt as though I had a brand-new shoulder, which allowed me to start climbing two grades above my previous level, something I had avoided out of fear of further injury. My elbow is also feeling much better, and the band has been a great help. The location was easy to find and parking wasn't too much trouble. The front area was decent, not super fancy but functional and tidy. I got seen in a reasonable amount of time. The medical assistant helped with some general prep and was nice to talk to. The doctor came in and didn't waste any time getting started. We talked about some recurring issues and they asked a lot of direct but respectful questions. They gave a thoughtful opinion and described a few different options for moving forward, without being pushy. There was some back and forth and they actually took the time to write a few notes for me so I wouldn't forget. I thought that was considerate. The office seemed well managed and organized and they gave me a summary at the end which was useful. Nothing felt rushed or overly complicated. I watched your video about neck pain, on YouTube. I'm a retired nurse and was a practicing nurse for 18 years. I found your video to be very informative and everything about the physics of our body along with our bad habits makes perfect sense to me. I came to Dr. Pedersen with quite a few issues (immobile neck, torn calf, crunchy shoulder, locked forearms, elbow tendinitis, bad knee). He tackled each systematically and alleviated so much pain instantly. There were a couple injuries that needed more attention and time. I had ACL reconstruction in 2005 and ever since, I've learned to live with random pain or limitations as an outcome of surgery and bad post-op therapy. Long review here because Dr. Pedersen deserves it and I can't recommend him enough. I came to Dr. Pedersen after trying a few different chiropractors to address an L4-L5 injury causing impingement on my S1 nerve root. I experienced the injury in 2017 deadlifting, and over the course of five years it got progressively worse as I continued to train, compete, and untimely make the S1 nerve increasingly irritated because I didn't have the knowledge to fix it. After weeks of 10/10 pain that had me depressed and not able to participate in my sport, I emailed a spine surgeon ready to do a microdiscectomy (at the least). Fortunately, during that same week, I was referred to Dr. Pedersen. I knew I was in good hands after 10 minutes with him. He started off by actually listening to me to learn how I got there, wanted the full story and invested time in learned about my sport, then transitioned into teaching me. I learned more about my spine and what's going on with it in that first session than I had in years. He found an SI Joint issue, made suggestions, gave me honest advice, and we talked game plan. I felt hope again for the first time and gladly sent the spine surgeon an email that night saying, "let's put surgery on hold." In my next session with Dr. Pedersen he presented me with a treatment plan that was spot on with my individual goals, and I did the Gratson method for the first time which ended in literal immediate pain relief. I have several more sessions with him, I'm doing everything he's recommended, and my pain at this moment that I type is a 1/10. Migraine Free !!!! This review is long overdue. I have been going to Dr Pederson for about 2 years. He was recommended by a nurse colleague who raved about his work. I have suffered from debilitating back pain for 10 years. When I am in spasm, he is literally the only doc who can adjust my back. I know that in 3-4 visits, I will be back to normal. I count on him so much that I am afraid to move out of the area. He is the absolute best chiropractor out of the dozens and dozens I have encountered since my fall in 2010. Recently, I had some dental issues that (unbeknownst to me) were the cause of a migraine that would not break. I suffered for 14 days straight. During this time, I reached out to a pain management doctor and my neurologist. Both failed to return my call and my PCP was out of town. I called Dr Pederson's office towards the end of a work day and he was already booked. After triaging my call, he agreed to stay after hours to treat me. Not only did he stay late, he helped me figure out the source of my pain. I thought it was my neck (or worse) but it was actually my TMJ. He adjusted my neck and spine and then spent extra time providing myofascial release to the affected tempro-mandibular areas. Within hours, the agonizing migraine and eye pain were gone .... and are still gone almost 1 week later. I was prepared to go the ED for an MRI. I was referred to Dr. Pedersen by a friend who could not say enough good things about him. When I called for an appointment, Dr. Pedersen was out of the office for a few weeks, so I saw Dr. Bethanne Baretich instead. She was wonderful, very kind and patient--and gentle. When, after a number of sessions, I had no improvement, she referred me to Dr. Pedersen who was by now back in the office. Dr. Pedersen was extremely thorough and willing to listen. He tried a variety of techniques with me and was also very kind and gentle--which was a good thing since I was in a lot of pain. Then I had xrays and an MRI done, so he had the benefit of being able to evaluate the facts. He explained my condition in great detail and decoded the MRI report for me. After analyzing the report, he concluded that chiropractic care would not help me, and that I would likely need surgery. He then forwarded the report to two of his former colleagues who just happened to be spinal surgeons. Their analysis confirmed Dr. Pedersen's opinion, which was also confirmed by another surgeon that I had consulted. I have not had the surgery yet, but hope to have it in the near future. I would recommend Dr. Pedersen to anyone who wants a thoroughly professional, personable, and dedicated chiropractor who is proficient in matters of the spine. I would go back to him in a heartbeat if I develop any other issues with my back. read more

Having moved to the U.S. over 16 years ago and having some serious back problems since early childhood, I lost hope finding a doctor who would help me make my life at least a little bit less painful (comfortable -- was an unreachable dream). For 5 years, I was able to take care of my back problems only when traveling to Europe. Over the last 10 years, I cannot even remember all the instances Dr. Pedersen got me back on my feet literally and figuratively! He not only helped me maintain my back but also healed my knees when multiple doctors were advising surgery but could not promise any success at all. I thought I knew how to properly sit from other classes I have taken and information I've learned online, I was wrong. His class is thorough, insightful, engaging and absolutely amazing. I had seen 3 different Chiropractors before I found Dr. Pedersen. After a few visits with Dr. Pedersen, I realized what a difference there was between him and the other Chiroprator's I had seen. There are so many offices where you go in and you feel like it's a "factory", time is an issue, and you're only kind of a number. This is not the case with Dr. Pedersen. The initial evaluation appointment was so thurough, I was shocked at how much time he spent with me going over things. Disclaimer: Long review :) I came to Dr Brant Pedersen after 7 plus years of trying it all. Yes, you read right.. almost 8 years of dealing with nerve pain shooting from the neck to my left shoulder blade area sometimes numbing my upper are even. The last 2 years have been particularly painful and constant ( lots of intensity, lots of frequency) I'm a yoga teacher and no, this was NOT caused by yoga and YES I know my body pretty well. I tried PT, Acupuncture, Mio fascial massage, cupping, deep tissue, chiropractor, MRI and the list keeps going. I knew about Brant yet was avoiding it due to pricing. When I met him the first few words I said were: "I have zero expectations and you are my last shot because my best friend told me so many times to come that I'm here" What's DIFFERENT about Brant is that 1) He loves challenge 2) He has knowledge that exceeds a regular chiropractor and he's INTUITIVE in his approach too. 3) He makes a plan. It starts with an assessment of body alignment and he's showing you how he's going to get from A to B, from 90% pain to 50, to 30 to Zero. 4) He involves the patient in understanding what's happening and how to make changes with easy exercises. 5) He re assesses after the plan and shows you honest results weather there's improvement or not. So... a couple of months into treatment and: Frequency of pain went from every single day to 10 days or more without. Intensity has decreased significantly though it's not gone. I still have 3 more visits planned but it's the first time in years I am hopeful and thinking there might be an end to my prolonged suffering. To top it all Brant is a super cool human being.. he's very passionate about helping customers feel better in their bodies and I can attest to that because I'm the same way with my students. Went and saw Dr. Baretich for the first time last Saturday and had a wonderful experience. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, warm, and friendly. She has a wonderful bedside manner, I felt very supported and cared for in the way she explained what we were doing and made sure I was comfortable before moving forward and was sensitive not to over adjust me. The office is very clean and beautiful, I appreciated the zen like decor. They offer so much more than just adjustments, a cold laser, graston therapy, applied kineseology, cranial sacral and more. Dr. Baritech was not pushing weekly appointments on me like some chiropractors I have been to. She recommended I come back in 4-6 weeks, which feels in line with what I feel would be beneficial for me. I got the impression that they have a very ethical/moral practice in only offering and suggesting treatments that are needed for overall well being and achieving ones health goals, and not charging extra for many of the extras they offer. I was very impressed by the time she took with me to go over my intake form and make sure to address old injuries (which most people don't realize are usually the causes of chronic pain). Overall it was a wonderful experience, and my shoulder tension hasn't returned since my adjustment. Positive Motion and Dr. Baretich are very qualified and I highly recommend them. As a massage therapist and natural health practitioner I do not recommend lightly, and am very picky about the professional health care I personally see.
