I volunteered to assist, and was appalled at the mess in the kennel. It was disgusting and the smell was terrible. I don't think either of their kennels had been cleaned at all. On top of that my cat was terrified. When we got home he did not allow either of us to touch him for several days, and it took two baths to remove the stench from both of our cats. We will never board our cats there again. Terrible way to treat two cats.

I took my 9 year old King Charles cavalier mix to be groomed there. The only positive I can say is…read morethe price point but even then I would rather pay the extra $20 to take her anywhere else. The woman told me upon drop off that it would take about 3 hours (normal) for her to perform a full groom. She called me 1.5 hours after drop off claiming that she was done. Upon pick up my dog was running around freely sitting at the door and instead of picking up the leash to pull her back, she practically kicked her back. My dog was still wet under the ears and her undercoat was still damp. My dog already is prone to ear infections due to her floppy like ears so the fact that she wasn't properly dried really bothered me. I can tell that she was bathed from her fresh smell but as for the groom it doesn't look like she had been anything but brushed out and bathed. Before arriving to pick her up I asked the woman if I could bring my other two dogs for a walk in nail trimming and she said it would be fine. When she goes to trim my dogs nail she didn't put her up on the table (that was vacant behind her) to make the job easier and with the first nail she goes to cut she cut it WAY too short causing my dog to not only bleed pretty bad, but yelp out in pain At this point I was uncomfortable and told her to not worry about it but she said it was "okay" and that she "could get them done". After trying to pull at her leg to try and cut the next nails I told her to stop and then she said my dogs nails didn't need to be cut to begin with (which is not the case). Overall the experience was very nerve-racking for me as a dog-owner. The woman was NOT personable, very awkward to talk to/converse with. And she did not apologize for any of what my dog experienced or what I had to see. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Excellent Care on our daytime ER trip with our Family Pet…read more Baxter, our in'out cat, got himself into a little scuffle and hurt his leg and eye. I was at work and the staff immediately allowed me to let my son drop off and would call me with an estimate. 25 min later, Baxter had been dropped and evaluated by our Vet of preference, they are all great, but Dr. Murray knows our pet best and an estimate given to me over the phone. With a simple verbal yes on my part treatment was continued. Thank goodness Baxter lucked out this time, a few minor injuries. The care given and time frame to see him so quickly was wonderful. I highly recommend Sea Island Vet and staff for your fur babies needs!

I honestly do not understand any of the negative reviews posted. I moved back to Beaufort in 2017…read moreand was very nervous about finding a new vet for my two boys. Their Vet in New York was absolutely wonderful and understood how neurotic I can be when it comes to my dogs. Dr. Fetterman and the rest of the staff are wonderful. Dr. Fetterman also understands and manages how I can be when it comes to them. I just lost my boy Riley on Monday June 9, 2025. Riley was my world and loved unconditionally; he was a kumbaya boy; my travel buddy, my boat ride or die and my swimming partner (you jump...I jump) for 16 wonderful years. He was a brother, a best friend and a playmate to Cooper for 11 years. To get back on topic...they both have/had separation anxiety (Riley a bit more than Cooper). Dr. Fetterman was the only Vet to put Riley on a medication that actually worked. Dr. Fetterman and the rest of the staff at Sea Island genuinely care for both fur-baby and human. I trust them unreservedly. Thank you Sea Island for everything that you do for my fur-family and Beaufort's fur-community. Tracy Della Pia (Landry)

Searching on the web, I also found that some facilities were not accepting animals on Sundays, which was the day we were arriving. But then I found Custom K-9! I called and spoke to a lovely lady, (forgot her name) She gave me the time and words that I needed to make the decision . So caring, comforting and reassuring that Charlie would be well cared for ....and she was right! I can't say how grateful my family and I are that we chose Custom K-9! Bud was the kind man who took care of Charlie for the week. He excepted my phone calls in the morning evening. Always reassuring me that Charlie was eating and doing his business, Not outside too much because, of course, it is very humid in SC. Many times he played with some of the other small dogs that were visiting. We aksed him so many questions and he had all the answers. He truly loves what he does and it showed. It was tough to leave Charlie there the first day, but knowing that he was in good hands, made it easier for us. Bud also told us that is was perfectly fine to take him for the day when we went to Beaufort! That was great! I can't say enough good things about this kennel.
