UPDATE- Ted has been coming to Bark Shack for 8 months and still loving it!…read more I February 2018, we started bringing our rescue dog (Berger Picard/Red Healer mix) to Bark Shack for all day play (3-4 days per week), and so far it's been great! The staff clearly loves animals and are very friendly and attentive to Ted's needs. Ted is so excited, that in the mornings, he can't get into the car fast enough and is noticeably depressed on Mondays (his day off). The best part is after a 7 hour day at the Shack, he comes home, eats, pees and pretty much naps until bedtime. Seriously if you have an active dog and you have children, or work or are otherwise busy, then this is the ticket.

I am new to the area and wanted to find a talented groomer for my two rescues, who are very…read moredifferent from each other. One is amiable and other terrified of her own shadow. I brought them to the Bark Shack for grooming this morning and it could not have gone better. I prefer that they NOT be in cages and was very pleased that they were not. They both hung out with the groomer until she was finished and she notified me they were ready for pick up. They were terrifically "cleaned, dried and shined" and did not seem to have any issues at all with being new to the groomer and the venue. The price was very reasonable and the groomer followed all instructions and was extremely polite and efficient. I would highly recommend for grooming!

The staff is very good about listening to anything you want (ie we like our dog's ears cut shorter than most) and they have very reasonable prices. I also like that it only takes a few hours. They book up fast so you have to be on top of when you need a groom for your pet, but if you stay on top of it, you can get in right when you need.

I took my 9 year old King Charles cavalier mix to be groomed there. The only positive I can say is…read morethe price point but even then I would rather pay the extra $20 to take her anywhere else. The woman told me upon drop off that it would take about 3 hours (normal) for her to perform a full groom. She called me 1.5 hours after drop off claiming that she was done. Upon pick up my dog was running around freely sitting at the door and instead of picking up the leash to pull her back, she practically kicked her back. My dog was still wet under the ears and her undercoat was still damp. My dog already is prone to ear infections due to her floppy like ears so the fact that she wasn't properly dried really bothered me. I can tell that she was bathed from her fresh smell but as for the groom it doesn't look like she had been anything but brushed out and bathed. Before arriving to pick her up I asked the woman if I could bring my other two dogs for a walk in nail trimming and she said it would be fine. When she goes to trim my dogs nail she didn't put her up on the table (that was vacant behind her) to make the job easier and with the first nail she goes to cut she cut it WAY too short causing my dog to not only bleed pretty bad, but yelp out in pain At this point I was uncomfortable and told her to not worry about it but she said it was "okay" and that she "could get them done". After trying to pull at her leg to try and cut the next nails I told her to stop and then she said my dogs nails didn't need to be cut to begin with (which is not the case). Overall the experience was very nerve-racking for me as a dog-owner. The woman was NOT personable, very awkward to talk to/converse with. And she did not apologize for any of what my dog experienced or what I had to see. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

At 2:20 p.m. on a random Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Cifranick and his assistant were driving on…read moreBoundary Creek Road in Beaufort and saw a flash of fur, and stopped the mobile vet vehicle. A seven-year-old Australian Shepherd was running across multiple properties, so the Dr. and his assistant came out with treats and a slip lead. A man waved and the Dr. confirmed that he was the owner. However, the owner requested assistance. For 5 minutes, in between regular appointments, Dr. Cifranick and his assistant assessed and helped corral the uncollared dog with expert and kind care, being sure to watch for roadside traffic. He allowed the owner to walk the dog to the man's house, and just gave a wave when the slip lead was returned. As a 40-year-old-man who's owned dogs all of my life, I was horrified. As that dog's owner and the idiot dog owner in this story, I cannot speak to how grateful I am that a vet and his tech stopped immediately, spent 5 minutes and kept working with me as we tried to herd a dog that was herding us. He didn't upsell or see it as anything as part of caring for dogs as a whole. I doubt he'd even assume I'd remember the name on the truck. He and his team care when no one else is watching, when no invoice is passing and with no one "watching". That's the kind of difference that matters when looking for care. He didn't have to. He certainly didn't have to when he knew I had eyes on my dog. But he did and made sure that the dog was safe. Thanks, Doc.

All in all a wonderful experience. Also compared to our vet in Atlanta, the price was very reasonable!!
