My wife wanted to get pictures of our daughter for her first birthday. She booked a session at this place. We arrived 15 minutes early. People were waiting before us. So, we got her ready in the meantime. At our scheduled time, my daughter was walking around like a toddler will do. My wife was following her around. She started conversing with other people waiting. Some other mother was there for 1 year pictures as well. She was waiting for TWO HOURS and had yet to be seen. She also booked an appointment. Then we started to hear about other people waiting here as well. We learned that they book appointments 15 minutes apart. It also seems that they double and triple book appointments. People all over this place were waiting for hours. I do not know how they waited. We watched three groups leave without getting their pictures taken before we left ourselves. When I went up to the counter to ask how much longer it would be, the lady told me that four groups were still ahead of us. At this point, we were waiting 30 minutes past our scheduled time. I told her We are leaving. She offered to rebook us. When I told her forget about it, she did not seemed surprised. It was as if this is a normal everyday occurrence. This is no way to run a business. It seems like they only make money by having 1 out of every 4 bookings actually stick around long enough to get pictures taken. This place is the WORST! Our appt was scheduled for 3:10 and not 4:30! It is not ideal to have customers with small children waiting for over an hour. To make matters worse it's now 5:31pm and we still haven't even reviewed the portraits with anyone yet. None of that staff are even willing to give customers an individual update or even apologize for the wait as if we have all day. Better customer service is needed during the holiday season why stagger appointments with five minute increments...I met another customer who have a 3:05pm appt with 4 other families before her because they were severely behind... we were scheduled for 3:10 so now it was five families ahead of us... Absolutely HORRIBLE! We have been going to this studio for the last 7 years .... birthdays, holidays, summer/just because photos. We just went today for Christmas photos and this will be the LAST time we ever step foot in their door for ANYTHING! Made an appointment for 6pm, didn't even get seen until 7pm. Our photographer RUSHED through our session. Pictures were HORRIBLE! We're talking dark, blurry, horrible angles, shadows, un-edited, etc. I could have taken them better myself. Even worse, she hardly seemed to know what she was doing, and cursed during the whole process when she got frustrated or didn't know how to do something! This is 100% our very LAST appointment there EVER AGAIN! Whoever was in charge of hiring all these different staff people should be reprimanded as well for the horrible selection of crappy photographers/employees. Our appointment was for 2:50 they didn't take us until an hour and a half later. This happened last year and we thought we would give them another chance. My son has sensory issues so being in a place like that is a lot for him. So we left because he could not take it anymore being there. It was VERY clear my son has sensory issues and adhd and she couldn't take that into consideration. my sister stayed and in front of the photographer we said she was just going to FaceTime me to pick a picture. When my sister FaceTimed me to chose a picture to buy the photographer yelled at my sister saying that she could not be FaceTiming and picking out the pictures. Needless to say I told them then they won't be getting my business. We traveled an hour to get these pictures done and wasted an entire day for this for NOTHING! I got the business package for publicity photos. I was really pleased with the results. Service was quick and the whole experience was smooth start to finish. Appt was at 11am, sat for photos, selected the best 6, had lunch, picked up photos and cd at 1pm and was done. Worst experience ever. Went in for pictures had to wait 15 mins after Appointment time to get the room ready. During our shoot the photographer was dragged away to answer phone calls and customers walking in. How can you run a business like that. The photographer was great but when it came down to getting pictures you have to spend $400 so you can get a CD with the rights. Who needs 25 different prints and 100 of each one. Why not charge for the session then charge for a CD. After the shoot I was told 30 mins for retouching. I had to wait over an hour. I came for all the different backgrounds but I regret it. We have been coming here for 7 years and four times each year. This place used to be organized, fluent and efficient with their photo scheduling and review of pictures. They ARE NOT anymore!! Our 945 appointment was delayed about 30 minutes. 15 minutes and we're done with photos. Upon completion we sit down to wait. 45 minutes later we are told we are still fourth in line for photo review. So it is 11:30 and we are just sitting down to look at photos. Completely unorganized and unacceptable. They have most likely lost our business !! read more

I hate coming here. Every year we have hour long waits to get the kids picture taken. They feel your time is less valuable than theirs. I have a 3:45pm appt. and it is now 4:45 and no pictures taken. Still 3 ahead of us. I would not recommend this place for any photo sessions. This is not about quality it is the amount of time they make you wait while small children scream and parents complain. Do they not realize the longer you wait the worse the children get. Another lady with a crying child got bumped up. Maybe if a parent starts crying they would work on schedule. I normally don't write reviews good or bad but I find myself compelled to share my horrible experience with this company I had not once but twice. So I scheduled my appointment 2 weeks in advance as per the website. I picked a time that would work around my sons nap time so he would be happy for his 1 year birthday pictures. We get there 15 minutes early to prepare and change him and are told there are 4 people yet ahead of us. We ended up waiting an hour past our scheduled time and by this time my 1 year old is bored, tired and cranky. We ended up with maybe 2 smiles from him the entire session. The photographer was TERRIBLE! We had to do the all the work as far as getting him to smile, set up the background and props. She didn't offer any ideas on posing him or background. Then once the shoot was over we had to wait almost another hour just to choose the photos we wanted. By this time my son was beyond tired and cranky, so it was hard to pick out what we wanted. The prices are outrageous. All we wanted was a few nice prints and the high res photo CD. Nope. You have to spend $300 plus just to get that CD. I may not have been upset to spend the money if we had a great experience with a great photographer and nice happy baby photos...but to spend that amount of money on complete CRAP makes my blood boil. We got a $50 discount on the photos, but we should have gotten a free make up session. We had a similar experience for our Christmas pictures, however I gave them the benefit of the doubt due to Christmas always being busy and chaotic. But I was wrong. They are always this awful. My son will never turn 1 again and what should have been a very special photo day was taken from us. I will NEVER use this company again and I will spread the word to everyone I know about this experience. read more

We had a 3:15 appointment today. I was told they were only running 15 minutes behind when I got there. At 3:45, I was told it would only be another 5-10 minutes. At 4:15, I was told another 5-10 minutes. Around 5:00, they finally took us to a room. THEN we had to wait another 45 minutes to VIEW the pictures taken! All in all, we spent 3 hours and 45 minutes there. It was a mess. I understand it's busier at the holidays, but please plan accordingly. I have never given a bad review online before. I always try to give any business the benefit of the doubt. Having said that, our experience was horrible. They rushed us through so quickly and our photographer was less than helpful. I asked her not to use a horrible background (grassy field-very fake) and she told me she had to use it. And sure enough the best family photo was in front of that background (we have three boys who never look at the camera at the same time). I also told her we did not have to take so many photos if she was in a rush and she told us she had to take 60 photos. Portrait Innovations in Center Valley, PA does not care what the client wants. They only care about how many appointments they can get to fill out their schedule. I do not blame the photographers, I blame the manager, 100%. I purchased a CD of our session and I just checked all the photos and the quality is horrible. I get better pictures on my phone. Please do not waste your time here. We had a great experience. No waiting for our scheduled appointment. The photographer was great with my toddler son and we ended up more photos to choose from than expected. I was able to get in some of the photos as well and we had 2 wardrobe changes. It felt a bit rushed but I appreciated not having to sit around and wait. The prices were crazy for full packages but I was able to narrow it down to less photos and still get what I wanted in my price range. The pictures were printed and ready for us in 40 minutes. I'd recommend this to people looking for quick and easy photo sessions. Bring along anyone who wants to be in the pics since there is no sitting fee. read more

I recently went to Portrait Innovations for some college graduation pictures. When I was on my way to my appointment, I ended up being late, but I was able to call in and I got an appointment a half hour later, the same day! I read a lot of reviews about waiting around for a while, but I was able to get started as soon as I walked in. If you go during a holiday, or at a busy time (after work), weekends, of course you might have to wait a while for other people. My photographer made my session fun, and had lots of ideas to get the most out of all my outfits. It is a bit expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for: flawless pictures that you want to display. I would recommend to anyone who needs professional pictures for a special event. read more

I am beyond frustrated with my experience today. I had an appointment at 10:50am for portraits, I waited an hour for the pictures to be taken and actually waited over another hour just to see the pictures. I couldn't get the prints that day because their printer broke and I was quoted a 10 minute wait for my cd, it took closer to 20 and I had to leave without it b/c took too long. I thought the shots were cute, but way overpriced and was so irritated by the length of time it took to complete, I doubt I'll go back. Seriously, stop scheduling more appointments then you can handle and you'll probably have more repeat customers and less people cancelling and walking out of your stores because the wait is too long. read more

My son and daughter in law had a coupon for a package, so we went there this morning for photos of their 2 week old son. The photographer was great, and did a nice job of posing the tiny baby. We did end up buying a package and not using the coupon. My daughter in law's mom was with us, and was used to the sales techniques, so we quickly narrowed down the packages to an affordable package we all liked. It was pricey, but the photos were great. They weren't too busy today, since it was a weekday morning, and the two employees were busy, though they took time to greet everyone who came in. It's obvious that they want you to buy the more expensive packages, but our photographer was very good at helping us cut back, and she seemed to understand our budget constraints. I work in retail, and I understand the concept of starting with the highest priced package and working down. read more

I take my kids here about every 6 months when portrait innovation runs a promotion. This location seems to over book customers which makes for a crowded waiting area. Most of the time they are running late for your appointment which can be stressful with children. The girls work very hard to get your kids to smile - They are all very nice and patient. If you stick to the promotion, it's a good deal. Anything outside of the deal will cost a fortune and you are better off going with a professional photographer. The quality of the image isn't the best...But it is great if you like photos of your kids throughout the year for a decent price. read more

They got yelled at for not standing close enough together, and not sitting still. Did I mention they are two and four. Clearly someone who doesn't have kids. Once it was our turn the whole process was rushed. Then came the picture picking. Nothing is explained and unless you want to pay a fortune for multi poses you get what you get. The quality of the pictures is average at best and they are over priced. Overall awful. This was our first time here and is definitely going to be the last. I wish I would have read these reviews here before I went here today. To start off, you walk in, there were people just standing around everywhere, and an empty desk. No one there to greet you. We check in, as we have an appointment and are advised there is a 30 minute delay. We're told to have a seat, even though it was clear as day there was not a seat anywhere as they were packed. During our wait the staff, about 8-10 people, and the manager, scurried around. Never smiling, greeting anyone, or even acknowledging the people they are supposed to be serving. They take 60 shots of everyone. Regardless if you only want one, your getting 60. 20 poses, 3 shots of each. Then you pick your favorite of the 3. Even if u don't want or like them, u have to pick one. Then you get offered a package of $550. And books and calendars and other crap nobody wants. I can't stand pushy sales people, and they've trained 17 year olds to be pushy. I'm pretty sure they get commission. It was a bad experience. The manager needs to learn what customer service is. It's nice walking out with your pics same day, but not worth it. Stay away. Total rip off. read more

Had a gift card for this place or I wouldn't have even went just by negative word of mouth experiences. First off, appointment was for 5:10 and we didn't even get in for photos until after 6:30! I had a newborn and a 15 month old, so you can imagine how they took the wait. The photographer was a nice young girl. However, I feel that the she didn't explain the pricing very well and I'm sure she is told not to. I feel the billing process is VERY deceptive. So, you can't just get the disc with all the photos on it, they don't offer it (or so I was told). You have to get prints of the photos and then you get the disc with the photos. I explained to her that I really didn't need or want any prints really but she said I had to get them. So instead of saying, if you get a minimal amount of prints, you will get the disc, which is what I wanted, I felt they were being deceptive and to me, that's not good business. Why give someone what they don't want or need, even after they expressed that! I will never be back here based on their business practices alone and not to mention how incredibly disorganized they were and how behind they were running. read more

The first time I came here, I had a great experience, my daughter was a few weeks old and her pictures were done by a photographer with a lot of experience. Her photos turned out great and we loved them. The photographer spent a lot of time with us and didn't pressure us into buying a massive amount of pictures. I've been back several times after that, the most recent being today, for Easter photos/2nd birthday photos. Every time I come back here, I hope something has changed and hope that its gotten better, but It hasn't, and I think today is finally the last time I will have visited portrait innovations! The girl who did her pictures today was great, she was really nice, and great with my 2 year old. But it just seemed like none of her pictures were great. They all seemed like pictures I could have taken myself. She had a black, white, and Easter background, but didn't capture any part of the Easter background. A lot of the pictures were from her shoulders up or half of her body. Most of the props are old and dirty, necklaces with missing beads, old stuffed animals, and old flowers. When i came here last year for halloween, the pumpkin was missing the stem. They did have some newer bikes and things for older kids. I think the photographers work on commission, bc it seems as if they get annoyed when you don't want to buy the most expensive package (538$ in my case.) Everything seems so rushed, like they're trying to get as many appointments as possible. I guess you get what you pay for, 16.99 for a single pose and no sitting fee, and 44 pictures. Nice photographers, but not the quality I'm looking for! read more

Why do I keep coming back here?? I find myself asking that question every year. I think it's bc of the super inexpensive holiday package they offer. The wait time is horrendous, the pictures are mediocre and the staff seems to just run around like chickens with no heads and not acknowledging anyone. I miss Sadies. They were a bit pricey but well worth it. I think the Manager of this location should think of a few things to make customers happy. 1)Have at least two people at the front desk strictly for checking in, checking out, picture pickups and phones. 2) Hire experinenced staff who can handle the holiday rush. 3) Have more organization. Not good if you have small children. We went yesterday and they were prompt for the appointment so no issue there. The problems start after that, its rushed, very rushed and that doesnt work with a 1 year old, the photographer was not good with children and was rushing to get him to do things that scared him like sitting on a high stool with nothing to hold onto and he kept pushing for it, when i suggested a smaller chair that would have worked i was ignored. Not good pictures of him being scared. Some of the other shoots i would do things like toss him in the air a little which made him smile but the the photographer started picking him up and tossing him and that was unacceptable. You dont pick up someones child without asking and start tossing them in the air. Im sure the insurance for the place would love to hear that. Made for an awkward photo shoot the rest of the time. Then comes the end where they rush through all of these software edits of stuff you dont want instead of asking how you would like them and start top down. I said at the beginning i didnt want all the books and calendars and was told we couldnt take them out until much later. Worst way to sell anything. Felt i was buying a new car. You have to take out photos you dont want before getting rid of extras. At the end i was very confused as to what we got. There is better out there and i could have taken better photos on my iphone and actually got him to smile. A rushed rackett is what this was. Not a fun or good experience at all. read more

They overbooked like crazy! I would guess they had not even allowed each session to run more than 10-15 minutes, which is not enough time to take family and children photos. Then, because they were so far behind they rushed my family's photo session. In some of the pics our eyes weren't even open or there wasn't enough time to even change positions?!?!? The photographer of our session kept calling my son the name of the boy before us in the previous session. That's how fast they were attempting to blast through the sessions. I went several years ago and it was a much more enjoyable experience, but based on my last experience and for the price paid (which should warrant quality pictures with a decent amount of time for photo sessions) I would NOT recommend them. This place is AWEFUL!!!!! I will never go there again and do NOT recommend anyone else does. We cancelled our first appointment because their printer was down and we didn't want to go back due to the 50 min+ drive from home. Luckily they called in time that we hadn't left yet. So, I ended up rescheduling for a Saturday at 11:40. They were quite busy when we arrived, so I expected a little wait. We waited for over an hour before they took us in to get our pictures done!! I have a very patient (thank goodness) 2 1/2 year old daughter we wanted pictures of. This was after we were told "about 10 more minutes" once we were already there for 1/2 an hour. It was ridiculous and absurd!!! Not to mention the fact that I heard one of the employees tell someone on the phone that "We are all booked for 10 a.m. [on whatever day she was looking for], but I can put you in at 9:50." When I brought this up to the woman at the front desk while I was inquiring about the long wait and complaining that they must have overbooked for me to have such a wait, she said that a 9:50 appointment wouldn't delay the "booked up" 10 o'clock slot. I wonder how this could be when they say each sitting "takes about 20 minutes." This is why I had such a long, long wait!!!! They OVERBOOK!! Then to top it off, we told them specifically what we wanted for pictures and they tried to get us to do all sorts of different poses that we didn't want. By this point, we were not only hungry, but my daughter was getting tired as it was about her nap time. While we got some good shots, we certainly didn't get any "great" shots. I was totally unimpressed with the photographer. I was also disappointed in the packages they had to offer as the only reasonably priced one was the special one pose package. They try to get you to buy everything under the sun! Fortunately, we are not people who fall for that CRAP! While we were hoping on getting a family portrait and an individual of my daughter, we only wound up purchasing a family package. When I picked up the pictures and made my voice heard about the poor quality of their service, I mentioned wanting a single pose without a big package and was told that I could in fact buy just one sheet - not something I was offered by the photographer!!! I did not inquire further because at this point I was simply irate at the fact that it had now been 2 hours since my appointment time and not only did I have places to go, but I certainly was not going to give them any more of my time or $$$.
