We tried to grab a slice of roni before going to the ferry, and the server behind the counter told us "that won't be happening" lol It seemed like a wild response to asking "can i get a slice of roni?" I asked if they had cheese they could add roni to - no, we won't be making any more cheese pizzas. Like they were done making pizza at 6pm? I don't know. We switched gears and got a quesadilla at El Barco. Our friends got there before us and did get some pizza, but it looked dry and sad and their kids refused it. Never a good sign when kids won't eat your pizza... read more

It's unfortunate that I'm writing this because I had already seen another review describing almost the exact same experience, and now I understand why. My father and I ordered a whole pizza at 6:15 PM and were told it would be about 15 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes, it was 7:00 PM, we still had no pizza, and we had a ferry to catch. During that time, another customer was also expressing frustration after being given inaccurate wait times. While my father was speaking to that customer, he simply said, "This is crazy," referring to the situation and the excessive wait. A male employee in his 30s immediately took offense, interrupted a conversation that didn't involve him, and incorrectly accused my father of calling the cashier "crazy." Instead of listening or attempting to de-escalate the situation, he argued with my father, defended the poor service, and continued making excuses for both himself and another female employee. My father actually walked away twice to avoid the confrontation, yet the employee continued, even saying, "What are you gonna do?" before finally offering a refund. The disappointing part wasn't just that our pizza was never made despite waiting nearly an hour, it was how the staff handled a frustrated customer. Delays happen, and most people can understand that. What customers shouldn't have to deal with is employees escalating situations, inserting themselves into conversations, misrepresenting what was said, and arguing instead of simply apologizing and resolving the issue professionally. This restaurant has unfortunately gone downhill. Based on both my experience and other reviews, there appears to be a pattern of poor communication, lack of professionalism, and employees who lack the customer service skills necessary to de-escalate situations that were entirely preventable. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, because the food isn't the problem, the customer service is. read more

Popped in for an early lunch, as they were setting out the pies for slices and selected a slice of cheese, and a slice of meatball with roasted red pepper. While those were warming they caught me eyeing the just-placed buffalo chicken pie and asked if i wanted to switch. I held my initial picks and was not disappointed. Perfect thin crust with tasty toppings. Nice little shop, friendly staff. Not sure why so many very positive reviews here offer 4 stars, but i had no complaints! read more

Porto Pizza - Hawaiian Pizza Sliced and Coca Cola Zero - Pizza Near Me - Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts

Ordered: Deep dish pineapple/pepperoni slice White veggie slice Im from the westcoast and I dont think I should be rating the pizzas because its hands down the best pizza I ever had my whole life. This is coming from someone who likes dominoes pizza. So if youre from here or from Boston/NY, then take my reviews lightly because I now understand when people say, they miss pizza on the eastcoast. All I know is, ill be coming here more often! Customer service was great. Let's be for real tho guys, its a pizza shop near the ferry. Even i cant greet everyone the same, order ur pizza and wait til its ready and be on ur way. Ambiance and vibes was chill on a cool day. read more

The pizza was ok for the island. Nothing to write home about but it was better than frozen. BUT I'm a pizza snob so take this with a grain of salt. read more

Well what can you say about Porto Pizza? The pizza is pretty good just don't expect a single person in the place to greet you with a smile or any sort of professionalism. In fact I think I smelt the distain and hatred of their jobs while eating my pizza. Gone there a few times in the two years and I gotta tell ya if you want a slice of.."What the hell do you want?" with your pie, Porto's Pizza is the place to be. I prefer Rocco's down the street. Service with a smile and just as good or better. Hell they might even make you laugh while you're there. I'm in the food industry and I'm appalled that the manager or owner allows this kind of behavior. Get a different job if you HATE the one you're in. read more

Look, the staff here are not really nice. But the pizza is delicious and the slices are huge! There's only outdoor seating which is fine. I come back read more

Eh. Teenagers running an expensive, not very good pizza joint near the ferry. I have tried the regular and the deep dish. I'm frugal by nature and yet I have chucked half pizza's and slices. The deep dish would have literally been hilarious if it was not so expensive. It was grotesquely and absurdly puffed up. The cheese is tasteless, the pizza sauce tasteless and the dough tasteless. Through multiple tries I've finally concluded that some veggies are overpowering- such as the onions - and others are tasteless. I can't even remember any of the meats, so that add on goes into the tasteless category. Not a lot of good pizza on the island. Offshore brewing Company in OakBluffs - a full service brewery and restaurant- is about the best. read more

Co-worker and I ordered a slice each. Nice crust, not too much oil...we both agreed it was good to very good flavor....my one funny I had was complaint was his slice had a nice outside crust and his slice was bigger seemed bigger. I would go back read more

Super nice staff, alot of college age kids with great attitudes. And they remember your name! PRO- Nice cheap quick MV Dinner. We ordered a large deep dish cheese to go & ate it on a nearby beach with some beverages purchased elsewhere. Hard to buy beer/wine in VH, so we picked some up before heading to town. The deep dish pizza was great, lots of tasty crust, cheese & sauce. Place was super busy, people in/out with slices or like us, waiting on full pies. We'll def go back next time we visit MV. read more

Stopped by in the afternoon and saw their pizzas and they looked good. We decided that we were going to stay in the house and called Porto and ordered a pizza and 2 sodas for delivery ($5 charge). They said that it would be an hour - but the driver arrived in under 40 minutes with hot pizza. And the pizza was as good as it looked. read more

Porto is sweeeeet, and I'm not talkin' about the Portuguese wine. First, the pizza is very good. It might not be Motoguzzi in Uffizi Square in Florence, but if that's what you're expecting, well, then go to Italy, Trevor. The people that work there are conversational and fun. It's a usual stop when I get off the boat. My only suggestion to Porto would be to keep green olives as a pizza topping, mainly because green olives are the best pizza topping. You heard it here. My suggestion to you is that you call early. Plan if you want delivery at a certain time. In my experience, delivery wait times can be an hour, even and hour and a half. That's what happens when you make pizza and you're not kooks. People wait. - Sincerely, Donatello, Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo. And Krang. Krang even likes Porto. I'm talking #*{+[^}]~ Krang. Dude hates everything, but he likes Porto. read more

One bite challenge 8.7. Definitely try the hot honey sauce on the pizza! Place is awesome owner is super nice.

Porto has REALLY good thin crust pizza. The crust is good and the cheese to sauce ratio is excellent! All combined??? A REALLY good pizza! I've had a variety of toppings on their pies but really enjoy the plain cheese the best. It's nice to have the option of getting either a slice or a pie. Just make sure if you're ordering slices, you get an extra one! Just in case you still want more! read more

Good for on the go pizza by the slice. Pizza slices are big. They also sell whole pizzas. The crust was kind of soft. Reminded me of New York style pizza. The pepperoni pizza slice was good. Not too greasy. It's located closer to the ferry station. read more

By far the best pizza on Martha's Vineyard. Hands down. That is all you really know. If you like fresh pies and slices, this crust, no flop and a boisterous, hilarious, charismatic staff THIS IS THE PLACE! Porto is worth a trip to the island all on its own! You don't want to miss out! read more

Plan ahead or plan to wait- you won't be disappointed! Porto was recommended to us as a great place for thin crust, and we loved it. Have never seen my kids put away a pizza like that. Because of COVID, most places are struggling to keep up with demand, and so we planned ahead for knowing we'd likely have to wait. I was worth the wait! and the large pizza was enough for my two growing teens. There was one slice left for me, so I got to try and I have to say that the crust/sauce/ratio was perfectly balanced! Super simple menu lets you customize your order- simple as 1,2,3...restaurant looks clean and organized inside Will have to try again before the week is done! read more

Maybe my expectations are just low but any place that serves me a hot slice of deliciousness in just a few minutes is awesome in my books. Yes, there are better slices of pizza out there, but there aren't exactly tons of options on MV for pizza take out or pizza in general. It's also not overpriced so that's a huge bonus! read more

Terrible, flavorless excuse for pizza. Save yourself $25 and walk next door and buy English muffins, a can of sauce and some American cheese slices from S&S for a better pizza. read more

After a long morning working from home and traveling to the Vineyard, all my friends and I wanted to do was grab groceries and have a nice hot meal at the house to catch up. This restaurant is conveniently located right near the Vineyard Haven ferry and groceries (Stop & Shop). There wasn't much time difference between picking up the pizza in person vs delivery (1hr vs 1hr 30min) so we decided to pick it up after grabbing groceries and carry it to the house. The pizzas were hot, fresh & delicious! We had 3 deep dish pizzas with red sauce: one pizza with pepperoni, tomatoes, basil & spinach, and 2 others (veggie) with tomatoes, basil, spinach & garlic. Everyone loved both pizzas, even the die hard meat eaters! The deep dish large pizzas were so filling that between 8 hungry people, we only made it through 2 pizzas. The 3rd pizza made a great snack for later during the trip! read more

Waited 50 minutes for 2 slices of pizza for my kids. These guys don't give two you-know-what's about their customers. I watched these guys cook full pies for at least 5 customers who ordered after me...and made me and several other people wait almost an HOUR for a couple of slices. Super rude and obnoxious. I guess when you're on an island you can act this way because folks don't have much in the way of options - but wow they sucked. 2 stars because the pizza was edible. read more

They literally don't sell what they're saying they'll sell. i came to the store twice for a simple slice of cheese pizza only to be met with "you have to wait for 20 minutes" then again "you have to wait ANOTHER 30 minutes". all i wanted was a slice & with the amount of staff in that kitchen - they should have a ton of pizza. read more

Still the same thing. Tried getting pizza off the boat at around 2:30 and not open. And again, nothing suggest they are closed, they advertise open year round but I don't know why I'm just unlucky and get here when no one is working. Porto Pizza makes super-flavorful thin-crust pies, and is my favorite place to get pizza on the island! They don't really have a place to eat (unless it's nice weather outside, but there's no inside dining room), so we usually get our pies to go, taking them home a few minutes away to eat at our own dinner table! My folks also love this place, they'll come over to our house and join us for pizza anytime!! Prices are reasonable, they make pies in a timely fashion, and the only thing I wish they did differently would be if they stayed open a few hours later! read more

Snagged a solid slice while workin. Little pricey but hey that's Martha's Vineyard babe. Really nice thin piece of pizza. Got the cheese. The dudes workin inside were stoned as a quarry though. We were in uniform so that might have been some of it. Kinda dickhead kids working there tbh. I shoot it straight. Probably hit it again just because of location and quality of the slice. read more

This pizza is so tasteless. Maybe they rely on the meat products or other toppings to give the pizza some kind of taste? The cheese pizza I got was completely flavorless. No taste in the sauce. No taste in the cheese. I suppose if you're really, really hungry, or really, really drunk, a slice will do the trick but I personally won't be wasting any more calories on this pizza. read more

Over two hours and still waiting for our two large pizza delivery! Their food is great but this is ridiculous.

Despite poor reviews we decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt, especially since they deliver. A disappointment for several reasons: 1. They aren't open when they are supposed to be. Posted hours are 12-8. We ordered at 1 & noone was there to take our call/order. So they have no problems taking your money... they just have problems fulfilling the order. 2. You can call, but don't expect anyone to answer. If they do, they will blame it on the delivery driver. 3. Took 2 1/2 hours to get 2 mediocre pizzas delivered. Lots of sauce, barely any cheese... very hard; probably one of the worst pizzas we've ever had. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

went in with a headache longing for some good pizza only to be met with the dreaded phrase "u have to wait 20 minutes bc we're out of slices"--mind u this is a pizza place how are u out of pizza??? after said 20 minutes i went back & was told to wait another 30 minutes. do not recommend. read more

We missed the ferry back to Falmouth on the way back after returning our bike rentals so we decided to kill some time. There's always room for a slice right? Well I had ordered 2 slices, pepperoni for me and a white pizza (probably potato) for my wife. There's a couple picnic tables outside and we ate it there. There was nothing really spectacular about this pizza except to say it is right by the ferry port so it's good for a quick snack. There are plenty of other places in town to eat if you have the time to sit down and enjoy a meal. read more

I wish this place would open at the time they say they do so I could also give the food a bad review, but I walk over there at 130 and they still aren't open. My party of four ordered four different kinds of pizza... Then we argued about whose was yummiest!! Crusts were perfect-- thin, deep, and whole wheat.
