We ordered a large deep dish cheese to go & ate it on a nearby beach with some beverages purchased elsewhere. Hard to buy beer/wine in VH, so we picked some up before heading to town. The deep dish pizza was great, lots of tasty crust, cheese & sauce. Place was super busy, people in/out with slices or like us, waiting on full pies. Stopped by in the afternoon and saw their pizzas and they looked good. We decided that we were going to stay in the house and called Porto and ordered a pizza and 2 sodas for delivery ($5 charge). Porto has REALLY good thin crust pizza. The crust is good and the cheese to sauce ratio is excellent! All combined??? A REALLY good pizza! I've had a variety of toppings on their pies but really enjoy the plain cheese the best. It's nice to have the option of getting either a slice or a pie. Porto is sweeeeet, and I'm not talkin' about the Portuguese wine. First, the pizza is very good. It might not be Motoguzzi in Uffizi Square in Florence, but if that's what you're expecting, well, then go to Italy, Trevor. The people that work there are conversational and fun. It's a usual stop when I get off the boat. My only suggestion to Porto would be to keep green olives as a pizza topping, mainly because green olives are the best pizza topping. You heard it here. My suggestion to you is that you call early. Plan if you want delivery at a certain time. In my experience, delivery wait times can be an hour, even and hour and a half. That's what happens when you make pizza and you're not kooks. People wait. - Sincerely, Donatello, Michaelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo. And Krang. Krang even likes Porto. Good for on the go pizza by the slice. Pizza slices are big. They also sell whole pizzas. The crust was kind of soft. Reminded me of New York style pizza. The pepperoni pizza slice was good. Not too greasy. It's located closer to the ferry station. read more

Plan ahead or plan to wait- you won't be disappointed! Porto was recommended to us as a great place for thin crust, and we loved it. Have never seen my kids put away a pizza like that. Because of COVID, most places are struggling to keep up with demand, and so we planned ahead for knowing we'd likely have to wait. I was worth the wait! and the large pizza was enough for my two growing teens. There was one slice left for me, so I got to try and I have to say that the crust/sauce/ratio was perfectly balanced! Waited 50 minutes for 2 slices of pizza for my kids. These guys don't give two you-know-what's about their customers. I watched these guys cook full pies for at least 5 customers who ordered after me...and made me and several other people wait almost an HOUR for a couple of slices. Super rude and obnoxious. After a long morning working from home and traveling to the Vineyard, all my friends and I wanted to do was grab groceries and have a nice hot meal at the house to catch up. This restaurant is conveniently located right near the Vineyard Haven ferry and groceries (Stop & Shop). There wasn't much time difference between picking up the pizza in person vs delivery (1hr vs 1hr 30min) so we decided to pick it up after grabbing groceries and carry it to the house. The pizzas were hot, fresh & delicious! We had 3 deep dish pizzas with red sauce: one pizza with pepperoni, tomatoes, basil & spinach, and 2 others (veggie) with tomatoes, basil, spinach & garlic. Everyone loved both pizzas, even the die hard meat eaters! The deep dish large pizzas were so filling that between 8 hungry people, we only made it through 2 pizzas. And again, nothing suggest they are closed, they advertise open year round but I don't know why I'm just unlucky and get here when no one is working. Porto Pizza makes super-flavorful thin-crust pies, and is my favorite place to get pizza on the island! They don't really have a place to eat (unless it's nice weather outside, but there's no inside dining room), so we usually get our pies to go, taking them home a few minutes away to eat at our own dinner table! My folks also love this place, they'll come over to our house and join us for pizza anytime!! Prices are reasonable, they make pies in a timely fashion, and the only thing I wish they did differently would be if they stayed open a few hours later! read more

Despite poor reviews we decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt, especially since they deliver. A disappointment for several reasons: 1. They aren't open when they are supposed to be. Posted hours are 12-8. We ordered at 1 & noone was there to take our call/order. So they have no problems taking your money... they just have problems fulfilling the order. 2. You can call, but don't expect anyone to answer. If they do, they will blame it on the delivery driver. 3. Took 2 1/2 hours to get 2 mediocre pizzas delivered. Lots of sauce, barely any cheese... very hard; probably one of the worst pizzas we've ever had. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

We missed the ferry back to Falmouth on the way back after returning our bike rentals so we decided to kill some time. There's always room for a slice right? Well I had ordered 2 slices, pepperoni for me and a white pizza (probably potato) for my wife. There's a couple picnic tables outside and we ate it there. There was nothing really spectacular about this pizza except to say it is right by the ferry port so it's good for a quick snack. Pizza is ubiquitous on Martha's Vineyard and just about every pizza joint you encounter boldly claims it's the best. Is Porto Pizza "the best"? I have no idea - this was the only pizza place we tried, but it was pretty darn good. They have four or five kinds of pie that you can order by the slice and also sell whole pies if you're with a hungry bunch. We thought the food was highly satisfying and the frozen lemonade is outstanding - the perfect thirst-quenching mix of sour and sweet. You can enjoy your pizza at one of several picnic tables out front or take your pie closer to the water and enjoy over a picture-perfect Martha's Vineyard sunset. read more
