Porter Paving did our two driveways. We are totally satisfied with the results and the cost.

We had our driveway paved by Porter Paving in May of 2024. When we called them to get a quote, we told them we needed a fix to the driveway to get rid of the 'Mount Vesuvius' type heaves in the driveway and they agreed to tear up and put down a new driveway. They suggested that perhaps we had too much clay in that area and that was what had created the heaves in the first place. While they were ripping up the old driveway, they came across a drain pipe on the left side of the driveway, broke it and re-installed it. There was no pipe on the right side of the area and the right side is where all our heaves were.... my husband and I don't install driveways for a living so didn't think much of it. We paid Porter Paving over $22,000 for their work. Last February 2025 after snow melted we found major heaves on the right side of the driveway. The crack was so high that we could not drive our car over it. We were so dissappointed and called Porter Paving to come and take a look. It took months before they came by to look at it, and of course by then, the winter thaw had occurred and the driveway was flat again but the heave had created a long thirty foot crack.... At this point, they said maybe the new heaves had something to do with drainage and they suggested we talk to someone - they referred us to a contractor that they worked with. I asked of course why now they thought it had something to do with drainage and no longer thinks it had something to do with a clay base but they did not say anything. The contrator for the drainage work came out in the fall and quoted us $10,000 to put in a drain. They would have to dig up a portion of the driveway, put in the pipe/drain and then re-pave. Porter Paving has been in business for many, many years and should know by now what they are quoting on. We live on the side of a mountain. They should know when drainage is required and when it isn't. Had they told me or suggested that it was important for us to lay a second drainage pipe on the other half of our driveway we certainly would have, but they mentioned no such thing... I'm sure it would have much cheaper to have done it before they layed the asphalt. We called Porter several times but the person who answered the phone refused to let us talk with the owner. We never got a call from him. We then wrote and mailed a letter to Porter Paving late last fall and asked them to remedy the situation and we have yet to receive a reply. Now it looks like we will have to file a claim in court in order for them to listen. It's too bad that a local company won't stand by their work. read more

I had my driveway paved in late October 2024 and noticed in February it had a rollercoaster look. I called Chris. He came in March to look and said "yes, something went wrong, sorry for the inconvenience, we'll need to tear it up and repave". I said "it's ok, I just want it to last 20 or so years". In that same conversation he asked me if I had clay underneath. I told him I didn't know, because I wasn't the one who pulled up the base, they were. That's something they should have known. April came and I didn't hear from him. I called and left a message, never received a return call. Same thing in May, so my wife emailed them saying we left three messages and the secretary sent a snarky reply. Chris finally called back and said "oh, I already got back to you and we aren't responsible because you have a bad perimeter drain". After he said that, I talked to a land guy who said our perimeter drain should be fine because we never had flooding issues in or around our garage, or on our dirt driveway. I also called a couple paving guys who both verbally said the problem isn't a perimeter drain. They both said it sounds like bad base material, that Porter should have changed it. I found out Porter said they never changed base material (apparently it wasn't part of our contract). Also, when they were digging they called me and said they pulled out a pvc pipe they don't know what it's for, but doesn't appear to be hooked up to anything so they ripped it out. I wonder if that was part of this perimeter drain that I never heard of. Regardless, they are the experts and should have known if our base was not going to withstand their paving. I definitely would have paid the extra money to have new base brought in if they told me it was needed. I tried speaking with the owner, but he never reached out. I had to deal with Chris and Heather, both were extremely rude during this whole thing. Chris actually started screaming at me over the phone and my coworker could hear from his desk. He basically blamed me for everything. Was I suppose to know about this so called drain? Was I suppose to know if the base material wasn't good (even though it was less than a year old)? Was I suppose to know they would rip up a pipe that may have been important? At the end I was reimbursed the cost I paid, but I'm still in deeper than I should be, because now I'm forced to pay someone to remove the lousy job they did and haul it away. They also still insist they did everything right and we are the problem. I'm sure some customers are satisfied with their work, but there's another review with the same exact issue as mine. Also, I never did hear anything from the owner. 2 stars only because they refunded the money. read more

Update on my review of Porter Paving. My driveway is already starting to crack, Pretty sure it was from the heavy equipment they used to repair the work they had already done. Also I don't care for the filler they used to fill the area they had to cut out of my driveway after the repair. It looks messy. read more

These guys did my back driveway area. There were like 9 guys on the job. It was done so well and so quickly I was very impressed. I had an issue with puddling and a hole. It looks great and it expanded my parking. Very happy. read more

These guys are terrific. The owner/boss is on site and sets a high standard for performance, running a number of machines, making sure edges are meticulously groomed, and working with the crew on all aspects of the job. We also had a drainage issue that caused water to seep into the garage, a problem they solved by gentle sloping of the pavement near the garage entrance. Did a nice job for me a couple of years ago. The driveway slopes down hill from the road and had some boulders in the gravel base which they removed to prevent damage to the new driveway. It has held up quite well thus far. read more

I had this company pave my driveway a few years ago. I tried for months to get in touch with them and they never returned my calls. After being completely ignored, I let it go. Just another lesson learned.DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.I have frost heaves, and the most mportant part of putting enough gravel so there would be no puddles was ignored. I contracted for two inches of asphalt and got one, in someplaces not even half an inch. The reason I'm writing a review now, they're next door doing another driveway. Good luck.
