My wife and I declined and prepped my daughter for the day and she was ready. We get there, and we very specifically reiterate what it is we decided on, and again, we were told "it's just an option!" Then the nurses and surgeon comes in, daughter flat on her back in the chair, and they all commune AROUND her while aggressively selling me that its SUCH a traumatic experience and I should WANT for my kid to have a peaceful exerience and why not just spend the money - IN FRONT OF HER'; Both finance and parent shaming of the highest accord! My daughter starts to get upset and I request that the conversation continue in the hall. I WAS STILL TOLD it was our choice and I said "We are either going to move forward with her surgery or we are going to leave." The surgeon pulled back and said, "Okay but if she suffers discomfort, I am stopping the surgery." I immediately texted my wife and told her, "Expect that this is not going to happen today because we are being set up for failure, here..." I hate being right. Sure enough, in mere minutes, the nurse was back out saying, "Yeah she was uncomfortable so we stopped. Reschedule and do so when you can AFFORD the optional anesthesia." I was left gobsmacked. Now, my daughter is in tears, ande I am doing everything in my power to maintain my composure and leave like a gentleman. On the way out, their secretary says snarkily, "It looks like there was a leftover co-pay from a procedure YOU had here, 15 years ago...do you wanna settle that up?" That was it - I told them that the whole morning was a clinic in dealing with tone-deaf, insensitive, bait-and-switchers and we would be finishing the procedure with another surgeon. They love their third party commissions, over there. More than they value human relationships. People are just wallets walking into their office in a high-tax bracket community to them, and it shows. ...I bet if I handed an Amex Black card to the them and let them con me into add-ons, they would have shown a different EQ. SAD.

Lord knows I hate needles and my experience at the dentist's office is one I'd rather forget. I remained optimistic for what I'd encounter at Optimum Oral Surgery Group. After meeting Dr. Chad's other half at Pure Endodontics (right next door) for an exam (which was a pleasant visit), I was able to meet with Dr. Chad as a walk-in appointment for further review of my tooth. After the consult, his staff thoroughly reviewed my paperwork to explain to me in detail my treatment plan options. I came in for an appointment and my experience was better than I expected. I have a phobia of going to the dentist and have triggered memories of past experiences with other dentist offices, but I genuinely felt cared for, my concerns heard and questions answered. Dr. Chad's assistant, Erika was sweet as pie and made me feel like I was a family member of hers pre, during and post my procedure. Post my procedure I followed the instructions that were explained to me and clearly spelled out on the paper I went home with to heal. Thank you to Dr. Chad and Oral Surgery Group staff at the Mullica Hill office for making my visit one I wouldn't mind recalling to share with others!

Anyway, I was asked to rate them 5 stars on Google before going beyond the front desk. They asked for my email and while waiting, they asked me again if I could rate them highly with a full 5 stars. That was really odd. Then, I was called back up to the front desk to be told that I would have to pay approximately $500 for the ONE TOOTH extraction - WITHOUT anesthesia. It was pay up or leave. I was in pain, so I had to put it on a credit card. That is a LOT of money for me and most people. Before I go further, the dental assistant was an absolute sweetheart. She was very calming and listened to my fears. I wish I could remember her name. I got the feeling she didn't care to work with the dentist I had, but with her being very professional, I doubt that she would have ever said it. Since I could not afford the IV or gas anesthesia, the male doctor (I cannot remember which) gave me a local. I explained upfront that it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for me to achieve numbness and can take a while to work. It has always been this way and I do not have an explanation. After a couple of minutes, he came in to extract. I cried out in pain and he was annoyed. He had to give me several more injections until it was mostly numb. With large dental forceps, he shattered my tooth into pieces as I again cried out. The yanking was brutal. He was annoyed and in a hurry. For two years, I was occasionally experiencing (from what remained of that one shattered molar) mild pain caused by tiny slivers that were poking my cheeks and tongue. To add insult to injury, I was billed afterwards another $750. For what? I was told that day that I must prepay in full or the doctor would not see me and my appointment would be cancelled. I don't want to jinx myself, but the nasty, persistent, collection agencies finally stopped calling, only to yell, threaten me with legal bs, only to harass me. I had kept the originally receipt and invoice, which said "full payment received." So, no more money for them. I should have been refunded for the torture.

I come from a family with "weak" teeth so I'm a fairly frequent customer. I like that everything's in one place so if you need endodontics, orthodontics or dental surgery it can be done right there. And I've had everything done there from crowns to implants. I had a "low-tech" dentist before so my teeth were in pretty bad shape when I started, but now they look great and I frequently receive complements on them. My dentist is Dr. Kessler, who is really superb. The staff is very personable and their pricing is the best I've encountered. I also like that if you need attention quickly for something like an orthodontic problem, they can locate a specialist quickly. Last week a retainer bar that I've had for 30 years became loose, and the staff was able to set me up with their in-house orthodontist the very next day. He removed the "old school" bar and scanned for a new acrylic retainer (similar to Invisalign). They had it ready in a few days and it fits perfectly!

The decor of the waiting room and office was unique and comfortable. I had a welcoming feeling the minute i walked in. In fact, I was blown away by the friendly and welcoming staff who "welcomed me to the practice" with smiles. Dr. Fonseca, who came highly recommended exceeded my expectations. She made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and even made me laugh despite being in pain and fearing the worst. Although my situation was a difficult one to diagnose she was patient and made sure that she got to the bottom of it. She was thoughtful and thorough, explaining every part of the process to me.
