Horrendous experience with Office Manager Marjorie, one of the least professional, rudest office…read moreworkers/people. She displayed a huge lack of curtesy, unacceptable behavior, and provided misinformation. She constantly interrupted, overspoke and hung the phone up multiple times while I was speaking. This is by far the worst person to encounter. Dr Waasdorp may be a good periodontist but she is a nasty, rude verbally abusive person. No one should have to deal with her poor service. In November last winter, even before going for a consult in January, the insurance broker and I had to place multiple calls and emails to her which were not returned on timely basis. She showed a great lack of understanding about the particular plan. No price quote was given to me in advance of my consult and she did not request pre-approval. The fax was broken the day of my consult; M said she was sending in for pre-approval for work by mail. In checking with her week after week, I was told it was mailed on varying days- she said she would check with a supervisor more than a month later and then told me she had not made that call. 7 weeks went by and still the insurance co did not receive a proper request for work pre-approval from her. I told the Dr I never wanted to deal with her and yet she called me again, only to hang up on me when she didn't like that I said nicely he was the only one who could help. Again, she made this into a horrible experience.

Stephanie and Marjorie from billing and the front desk are absolutely unprofessional and ignorant. They sent over the pre autherization to the insurance which covered nothing so we decided to change my dads insurance and change the plan. In march the insurance company called the office and spoke to stephanie asking her to resubmit the authorization so they can approve it and the services would then be covered at 50 percent. Meanwhile Marjorie from billing called us she would not speak to me i tried to explain that my father is hard of hearing and he was right there giving concent. She was very ignorant and we told her we would look for another provider and her answer was good and hung up on us. Fastforward to 4/22 my father went in for his scaling and asked what he would be expected of him to pay. They told him 5,000 he told them that the insurance company was going to pay half. They never resubmitted the pre autherization so the ins would cover it. I deal with the insurance company and his drs and he told them right to thier face he wanted to verbalize that i was allowed to talk on his behalf they still gave him an issue he was told he had to go home write a letter submit a drivers license and all this other nonsense if he wanted me to be able to talk to them. This wasnt heart surgery this was to discuss insurance and treatment. Stephanie said it was marjories discretion to not speak with me and to make a huge deal out of the situation. So today 4/23 i called the insurance company and they verified again the services would be covered at 50 percent i asked the insurance provider if he could call the office and find out what was going on. He spoke to Stephanie he told her that they needed to re submit the preauthorization and she claimed they already did. He told her since then he changed his insurance and the one they have received was in January before the new insurance she was rude to the insurance provider and proceeded to hang up on him! They are not trying to hear what you are saying or try to help! The insurance provider then got back on the line with me and told me they are rude unprofessional and seeking a new provider would be in our best interest. They don't want to do their job, this is how they treat a new patient. The hygienist and dr were very nice but it starts with the front desk we will not be returning to this office! we are blown away with how this whole situation was treated they love to hang the phone up when there is something they dont want to hear or something they have to do ! If they would have been willing to do their job and help in the first place this all could have been avoided! It's a shame the reviews I have read have described the same things as far as Stephanie and Marjorie and their ignorance! If you want to be treated with respect and like a human, this is not the place to go! This has been a nightmare since dealing with them!

Azadeh S. Azad, R.D.H., B.S. single handedly restored my faith in dentistry. If this is your first…read moretime having a scaling and root planing done, you need to request her! I am severely afraid of the dentist and the anxiety of going has kept me away for over 5 years; so naturally, you can understand how I got to the point where I would need a scaling and root planing. I called around trying to find who could be able to put me to sleep because I was afraid that I may leave mid appointment if it got too bad. I ended up here because this was listed as being covered by my insurance. A couple xrays later, it was discovered that my gums were in bad shape. This made me nervous and of course, I asked to be put to sleep. I was told that I wouldn't need to be put to sleep and that the numbness from the anesthesia would work. I was apprehensive as I've been told this by previous dentist before, only to be in pain and then to be told, "ok just a little bit longer" which I just don't respect. However, when I first met Azadeh, I told her my fears and she absolutely listened!!!! For a complete scaling and root planing, I needed two appointments. Both times, mid appointment, she stopped to ask how I was feeling and if I needed more anesthesia. The first appointment went so well, that the second time ( I went today), I told her that I didn't need that much. She was so kind but also very thorough. I could hear that she was really getting in there, BUT I barely felt any discomfort! After both appointments she recommended me a specific tooth paste because I have VERY sensitive gums. I've been using that toothpaste ever since the first appointment and can definitely see the results. I can't wait until my check up in a month. The first half of my mouth is already doing much better and no doubt, the second will be the same. Highly recommend :). . The best dental hygienist I've had thus far

Shout out to her right hand Donna and all the women at the front desk who were equally calm, compassionate, clear, reassuring, and kind. (Especially to a first timer who couldn't stop crying in the waiting room before her procedure!) Gum grafts are very technical and you want the best of the best. That's Dr. Seyedain. Not only did she go to great lengths to increase the predictability of my graft before surgery, but she also talked me off the ledge the day-of with the kind of bedside manner that's rare in a busy practice. Dr. Seyedain isn't just patient, empathetic, and an expert at her craft--she is also astoundingly generous with her cell phone number and incredibly responsive during the recovery period. She and her team make an objectively miserable thing much, much less miserable--and 100% worth a rough few weeks. I couldn't recommend Locust Street Periodontics more. Your visits will start on time, your out-of-pocket responsibility will be easy to understand (in advance!), and every touchpoint with the team will be friendly and informative. Even if you're dreading the work you need to have done (and tempted to delay a little longer!), this is the office to call when you're ready.

Whenever I come in for my for biannual cleaning I'm greeted by the friendly receptionist, promptly taken back for a quick but thorough cleaning by the hygienist Jackie, and given a comprehensive exam by Dr. Rice. Unless you have specific issues that need to be addressed, a typical check-up will last you no more than 25 minutes. As someone who has done a fair amount of dentist hopping due to previous dentists always trying to sell me products, the efficient service of Dr. Rice has been a welcome change. One note about the Yelp check-in offer: you will ALWAYS receive a goodie bag with toothpaste, a toothbrush, and floss after every cleaning, regardless of whether or not you check-in. The receptionist was actually very confused when I showed her the offer on my phone as she had apparently never seen it before. Just know that if you'll always get a goodie bag no matter what you do.

What they did during my visit was repulsive and ignorant. I won't give credence to what exactly happened by repeating it here. Basically, based on my experience they "screen" the people they want as patients. If your not their "type" of patient they have No shame in how they let you know your "not for them". I actually think people who behave in similar ways as The Perio Group Staff, are amusing. I intentionally extended the visit ( it was just a consultation) so they would have to interact with me longer. After we (my children were with me) got home we talked about the interaction. They said they already knew what the deal was but they didn't care because they wouldn't go back. Don't do it.

My experience with Dr. Brown was frankly the strangest "professional" experience I have ever had…read more First of all, I thought it very odd to walk into a professional office with floor to ceiling pictures and every table in every room covered with his family's photos. I mean this is not his living room and really, do his patients care any more about his family than he would about ours? Not professional, not the place. But that was the least of my negative experience. Although his staff couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming, Dr. Brown was on the other end of the spectrum. He walked into the consultation room and the next thing I know, he told me we had "no chemistry" and that the appt was over. Further, since he would not treat me, he asked if I would like a referral? I was gobsmacked, not able to understand what prompted this extreme reaction. I had no attitude, was very calm and nice. This was so out of the blue and surreal. Although I apologized for offending him in any way, telling him he must have misunderstood me, he was resolute in denying me treatment. He eventually told me it was because I was engrossed in a magazine when he walked in and looked up at first and didn't say hello right away. He assumed therefore that I was not "interested in being there" as if my mommy had to drag me in! That was not all. I wanted a second opinion about my need for scaling/condition of my gums. He told me I was in danger of losing several teeth NOW and that I needed much more serious work than scaling. I walked out wondering where the candid camera was and later that week saw the most wonderful dentist around the corner that he recommended. That dentist said he saw nothing wrong and that I didn't even have to rush to get the scaling done. That was confirmed by TWO other dentists!!!

Leading up to the appointment, I received text reminders as well. For a small business, they are very tech savvy. During my checkup, Dr. Liu sat there and looked at every single one of my teeth with me, top to bottom, front to back, talking about the health status of each of them. His hygienists were booked up that day, and I guess I hadn't made it clear when scheduling that I wanted a cleaning. So instead of making me come in again separately, he did my cleaning himself. He said it wasn't something he usually did, but he wouldn't mind this time. For a doctor to not be beyond rolling up his sleeves and helping out with the grunt work when needed, to me, is representative of a truly good professional who has his patients on his mind.
