I had been laid off due to COVID and simultaneously incurred an enormous sum of medical bills on top of my typical monthly expenses. Naturally, I waited until things hit rock bottom before seeking help, but I'm so fortunate to have come across Garrett. He has the innate ability to show empathy but is also a straight shooter because he doesn't sugarcoat things. Rather than emphasizing the mess I was in, he quickly provided a bevy of solutions that we tackled in tandem one by one. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and I often joked that I should be giving Garrett a co-pay since he acted as a therapist throughout the process. Fast forward to the present day, and I've done a complete 180 financially, professionally, personally, and all of this has contributed to a happier life. I honestly couldn't have reached this point without Garrett's kindness, expertise, and can-do attitude. I look forward to continuing my growth with Garrett and recommend him to anyone looking to hone their budgeting and financial planning skills.

For context, I first found Garrett while searching online for a finance coach, and I resonated with his optimism and supportive tone on his website. I proceeded to have an initial call with him, and just like the tone on his website, Garrett was warm and friendly. He was attentive, curious, and professional, and he showed up with structured programs combined with a willingness to adjust and be flexible for my specific circumstances. He clearly had the training, experience, and skills, and I got the sense he walked the talk, invested a lot in himself, and put in the work to live authentically. I was eager to work with Garrett, but I still had my hesitations. I was on track to go deeper and deeper into debt. Did it really make sense to hire a finance coach and add on another expense in my life? At the end of the day, I had to conclude that I needed additional support. I tried reading books, getting support from friends and family, and making changes on my own, and I wasn't getting the results I needed. It's as if I had tried to heal a broken bone on my own and then realized I really needed to hire a doctor. I had to admit that I couldn't do this with my current approaches, and Garrett had been able to help many others before me. After discussing with my fiancée, Jasjeet, we hired Garrett to support us as a couple. I'm so glad we made that decision. Garrett continued to show up consistently with the aforementioned qualities, and after only 7 sessions, I experienced the following results. - Alignment with Jasjeet on our priorities and financial plan which includes being debt free this year and having an emergency fund - New tools for successfully talking about and getting aligned about finances with Jasjeet - A shift towards feeling more empowered and steady in my relationship with money Of course, Jasjeet and I also needed to put in the work to show up to the sessions and do the work in-between sessions. So much credit for our success goes to my fiancée. As our coach, Garrett helped guide us with a listening ear, honest perspective, tools, and strategies. Thanks again, Garrett, and I'm looking forward to continuing our work together!

A couple years ago I realized how LITTLE I knew about money…read more I had the basics (savings, budgeting, etc.) and understood the end game (retirement). But what about all those decisions in the middle? It's hard to talk about, because everyone comes from a unique place: $ saved, debt accrued, etc. For example, my biz school friends went straight into jobs that made money from the get. I dropped out, waited tables, and worked for free. I was ready to make the biggest decisions of my life, but had no help to answer questions like: - If I want to buy a house in 3 years, how much money do I need? - Am I buying a house for the right reasons? - If I'm ready to start a family, when do I start saving? I started working with StashWealth as a financial advisor and it's been amazing. I got: - Personalized, actionable advice. 100% customized plan - Told me exactly how to reallocate my money. Then helped me open and close the right accounts. - Crazy good response rate. Anytime I've had a question, Rob (a co-founders) answered it in a few hours. Caveats: - SW is not right for everyone. IMO, get a baseline edu of personal finance first. - SW is NOT a "budget" option. They have a fee, more than Wealthfront or Betterment. All options are good, it depends on your needs. I've been lucky to work with many successful people. I've learned: No one "figures it all out." There's always another challenge, whether it's financial, career, or personal: mortgages, child care, job loss, cancer. And StashWealth is there to help you navigate these challenges. If you want more info, I wrote a more detailed review here, where I talk about who StashWealth WOULD be good for, and who it WOULD NOT be good for: http://christopherming.com/2018/02/honest-stashwealth-review/

Majority of my income was coming in under my business with no taxes being deducted so I knew I had to pay. I was pretty sure i was going to owe like 10k :( .. I chose OG bc of the great reviews (thanks yelp!) Before going in I was actually nervous and a bit ashamed bc as an adult I have know idea about taxes yet I decided to elect as an S-Corp lol. Then I finally came in & was seen by Eli. Here are some highlights of my experience: Eli is very knowledgable and is able to explain everything easily so that people like me who feel like taxes are a foreign language can understand. I came in assuming I was going to owe so much bc I had no idea what I was doing or how taxes even worked.. but Eli answered all of my questions with patience even though I know I was probably asking the same question over & over lol. Now for 2019 I will not be stressed! Eli also shed some light on things I had no idea about like how putting money in an IRA can really help to save on how much I owe in taxes, and how I need to go ahead & pay estimated taxes twice a year, and other business related matters that as business owner i needed to know & did NOT beforehand. Before your appointment they give you this great "tax planner".. it pretty much lists out everything that you can & should be writing off on your taxes & allows you to put in the totals. This was so helpful.. it really helps you organize everything. I called with a question & was quickly directed to Eli which was nice bc I thought I was going to have to email or wait for a call back, etc.. Jane at the front desk is also very helpful, polite & accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend. Especially if you have no idea what you're doing bc I know I cant be the only one. I left feeling so much better & at ease after it was all over.

He never asked if he could be if assistance. so I waited another 8 minutes for the receptionist to return. Second: I presented a letter to the receptionist requesting the division of a Trust into three separate Schwab accounts. After reviewing the letter the receptionist accepted the letter. Leaving me to believe that the information in the letter was exactly what Schwab needed to carry out the request. Subsequently, I received an email from Schwab with a reference number and that I was to call them to discuss the problems as to why Schwab could not process the request in the letter. The letter should have been reviewed at the Schwab office to ensure that the correct content was there prior to accepting it for processing. If the receptionist was unaware/unsure that the contents/information/instructions in the letter were sufficient .......she should have contacted a Schwab employee for the information needed to process the client's request. Secondly why didn't you first tell me the additional terms and than proceed to deny my application for the credit and than try and bait me into a co-signer for a loan I don't want? Honestly this credit union is good for depositing petty cash into a savings account. Anything else not so much and forget about trying to build your credit back up with their so called security credit repair cards. Again you will need a large deposit to at least have the credit card for a year to even consider getting a unsecured credit card. He rep I spoke to was even more unhelpful Jose and didn't properly explain all options till after I said this was a waste of time and money. Be wary when dealing with this credit union they also keep sensitive documents on file for up to 2 years.
