Pops Handyman Service does a horrible job and Troy is not a person of his word! Him and his son will ask for full payment of cash or check up front and immediately change the check (w/I an hour) and do a horrible job. I am a small business owner and usually read reviews before hiring someone, and the minute I didn't read this company's reviews and let my guard down I got screwed. Troy & Corey should not be in business. Buyers beware!!! They will scam you out of your money. I needed both my tub painted in my home, he came out to my home and looked at it and quoted me a price. I called him a month later to paint my tubs, he did a horrible job. He ran off and left before I could even get to the home at 5pm to inspect & say thank you, even though he told me he would be done after 5pm. I go there immediately found out the master bedroom tub was not completely done. Immediately text him photos and he assured me he would return the next day to correct the error. I text him the next morning and he stated he would be there to get the job done in between his now current job (remind you this is the next day). I text him over 4-times that day and he promise he would show up and never did. He will promise you nothing but great work and then you live with the nightmare. I'm praying to God whatever work was done to my tubs don't start stripping more when my Guests starts using it the tubs. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Save yourself the headache. We sued him, and won a judgement against him in small claims court, but he likes to be paid in cash or check, then he goes to the back to cash the check immediately, so I'm not sure if we're ever going to get our money back. He and his son are crooks. Do not use this company. My husband and I paid Troy Stuart, the owner, half of the money upfront to paint the exterior of our home. He did not prep the house properly, like cleaning, scrapping, sanding away loose paint and caulking. He told us he would give us our money back, but he never showed up with our money, and when we called, he of course did not answer or return our messages. He kept our shutters for about 2 weeks, because he said he would paint them in the AC, and even left early one day to paint them, but when he brought them back, they had not been painted. Material we bought, like wood, paint rollers and plumber's tape, he took when he left. He and his son, Corey, painted over loose paint, and told my husband and I that you're supposed to paint over loose paint because the new paint will show you where the bad areas are, and then you scrape that paint off, and put on another coat, and you repeat the process. We told him we knew that wasn't true, and that the house needed to be scraped, sanded where needed, caulked and properly cleaned, (none of which he did before adding new paint) before adding new paint to the exterior of our home. In addition to all of this, he left paint chips and rotten wood on our roof, and on the ground, and we have small children...the youngest is 1. There is still mold and dirt on the house. He tried to use the new paint as caulking, and now we have cracks in the new paint, and peeling everywhere he attempted to paint. He didn't prep the house at all, and when we told him the house needed proper prepping before painting, he quit. There are also spots where they used too much paint causing running paint. Please do not use him, he is a crook, liar and a thief. He will take your money and not complete the job, or start it and not do it right. My husband and I are now in the process of finding a new contractor to correct what he did. He also told us we had to buy the paint, which all the contractors who've been to our home have stated is bad paint for the exterior of the home. Where there was raw wood, he did not prime it, so the new paint is chipping away everywhere. Please do not hire him. Beware!! Awful Awful Experience. A small bathroom project has turned Into a nightmare. They were hired to replace the tile on my bathroom floor and add mosaic tiles to the wall. After paying them in full (my mistake), we were advised we could not enter the bathroom for about 24 hrs to ensure the tile was dry. We'll when we finally entered, we realized instantly that the work was sloppy at best and/or work was not complete in a satisfactory manner. Several phone calls and text have not been returned but they were paid in full. Here a just a few of the issues found: -New tile was cracked after installation by Pops Handyman Service -Tile were missing grout and/or not enough grout was used and tiles are moving and you hear them grinding/squeaking. -New tile was laid over the old tile glue without smoothing the surface out to ensure the new floor was level. -Floor railing was not cut corectly and in some places, it was not added -Wall tile added by tub was broken and placed on the wall anyway. In addition, no grout was used. You can see the glue and the per behind the glass mosaic tiles on the wall. -white glue/sealant was placed on the bottom of the toilet and bottom of the wub in large amounts and it looks horrible on the brown tile. It is very noticeable and looks like amutuer work. -Employee asked to use our trash can and took the trash can with them. -Employee asked to use our mop bucket to put water in. However, he used it to mix the grout in and left in sitting in our front yard. Along, with the cigarette Butts that were thrown in my yard. -Bathroom tile was not cleaned/wiped off. Grout was smeared everywhere. Broom, dust pan, dirt/debris was left in my bathtub. -Broken tile and dust was left in the hallway. The owner was contacted directly and would not respond or come back out to our home to correct the issues. Poor service and took the money and ran. BUYER OF SERVICES BEWARE!!! We hired Pop's Handyman Service last month (April) to paint three rooms, lay down flooring in each of the rooms and the hallway, paint in the kitchen and put in NEW kitchen cabinet doors, and to paint the outside of the house. These are the issues we have dealt with from them: They tore two holes in the kitchen floor when they moved the fridge and didn't say anything - we found those on our own. We had to have them put on an additional coat of paint in the hallway like they were supposed to have done. Instead of pulling out nails and filling in any holes in the wall with putty or such they just painted over any nails and holes. On the outside of the house around the window casings they never came back to paint (they were told we have the bit to remove the burglar bars but that we would NOT just leave it out for them if they came while someone wasn't home). They took out the kitchen cabinet doors and it took 7-10 days for him to take us down to Home Depot to look at cabinet doors they supposedly had in stock, though a rep at Home Depot said they haven't had doors in stock for years. He apologized and said he would take the doors to a cabinet place he dealt with before. In the three weeks Pop's had the doors and two drawers he had said they were all painted with the hardware attached, all ready to be installed. After a letter was delivered they finally brought over the doors and drawers and left them in the carport even though someone was home; however, they were the OLD doors that they had repainted and filled in the grooves on the front and no hardware had been installed on any of them. Calls were not answered, voice mails were not responded to. No offer was made to refund the purchase price of the new doors. The check he was given covered the purchase and complete installation of NEW cabinet doors. read more
