The Poppy Line runs both steam and diesel engines from the coastal towns of Sheringham and Weybourne to the Georgian market town of Holt. It's a fabulous journey back into the past made all the more enjoyable as virtually all the staff on the trains and stations are volunteers who have a real passion for the days of steam.
Throughout the year there are a number of 'specials' where people may travel whilst wearing period clothing, or have a day out with Thomas the Tank engine or go on the Santa Special which make the trips more memorable than the usual weekday trip that I had experienced.
The only criticism I had really was the cost, which for one adult was £9.50 and a family ticket comprising of 2 adults and 2 children was £29, which I imagine might make some families think twice about doing the journey. read more
