I ordered my dress from Poppy bridal because it was the only place i could get the dress i wanted in the North East. I must have been the easiest sell for them as i already knew before i walked in the door that i would buy the dress- i tried it on quickly and 15 mins later i had handed over half of the cash. They were ok (not overly interested or enthusiastic)on the 2nd and 3rd visit but on my 4th visit i walked in the door of the shop- bear in mind i have spent close to £3000 on my dress, shoes and a head piece, and had visited the shop 4 times..they looked at me like i was a stranger and one of them said in a bit of a snotty way 'yes, can i help you'?? She looked right through me and made me feel so small and insignificant that i was actually really upset afterwards. It reminded me of the scene in pretty woman! In all seriousness though i still feel pretty upset over the whole thing and normally i wouldn't waste my time thinking about it but its the most important dress ill ever buy, cost a ridiculous amount on it (by the way, they wouldnt give me any discount on the shoes or headpiece), and i had been there 4 times already! I mean, i thought bridal shops were meant to make you feel special. I felt the opposite of special and not even worth remembering. Living in Newcastle, it takes almost an hour to travel there and an hour back. Following my less than pleasant experience above, i really didnt want to go back so asked if they could send the dress to me- i couldnt face going down to that shop again. They didnt even offer a courtesy delivery service and i had to fork out for the delivery charge too. I advise the women working in there to take a picture of your brides as perhaps you do have a bad memory, but trust me, it makes people feel pretty bad if you dont even remember your own clients. Im my mind, running a bridal shop is all about the little detail and this shop is missing that warmth and intimacy that makes a mundane service extra special. Poppy Bridal has got its priorities wrong. I have lots of friends getting married over the next few years and i will warn them to steer clear of this bridal shop if they are looking for first class service. I paid first class prices and have been left extremely disappointed and upset by the whole experience. A real shame as i would have much preferred to give my money to a shop which deserved it. read more

I traveled from York today to this shop an I must say I wish I hadn't bothered waiting my time or petrol. Worst shop I've ever been in. Extremely rude staff who looked me up and down like something they walked in. I was looking at dresses for a good 15 mins before I was asked If I needed any help. I told the woman I really liked the dress I has taken off the rail. She asks when I was getting married whilst she took the dress out of my hand and put it back in the rail, she became even less helpful when she learnt that it was 12 months till my big day. The dress was £1500 and the best I've seen. Shame the lady wasn't more friendly and helpful, they would have made a lot of money from me today but instead, I've taken the details if the dress and I will buy from a shop that gives me the 1st class service every bride deserves! We travelled two hours to visit this store and the service was appauling. The bride to be was not asked any questions about what she was looking for, but told simply to choose what she wanted to try on the racks. When she tried dresses on they were hanging off her and the true picture of the dress could not be seen. It wasn't until about the fourth dress was tried on that someone had to request for it to be pinned so that the style of the dress could be seen. We were also told that it was a launch day of Amanda wakely dresses and a full collection would be there. Not all dresses were there and those that were didn't even look particularly clean. We did not feel welcomed by the staff and would not recommend the shop to anybody due to the shocking service and the very unwilling staff! read more

This shop is not what I expected of a bridal shop. The staff were snooty went with mother-in-law to be only one chair no coffee offered beads all over the floor from another fitting. BEWARE alterations horrendously high charges not clearly stated due to type of dress, alteration etc. Antiquated way of measuring and why a written receipt in these days of computers? This shop needs a good shake up the arrogance is breathtaking I would not recommend to anyone. read more

My experience with poppy was apaulling. They ordered the wrong sized dress and told me i must of put on weight. It was only then discovered by the seamstress the dress was 3 sizes smaller than i needed. There was then a whole charade of ordering the dress in the correct size which didn't arrive until 2 weeks before the wedding. The whole situation was a farce to say the least. You pay premium prices at poppy and i did not receive a premium service. read more

I've been to this shop a few times and I think the staff have been great. Very welcoming and extremely helpful. With regards to the comments below I couldn't disagree more I felt at ease in there and left a lot more relaxed then when I went in not knowing what to expect and somewhat guarded from the comments on here.
