R8. Katsu Over Rice
Stephanie T.

I was very excited to try this place because it's different from the typical cuisine in Jackson Heights. I tried the beef bulgogi bowl which tasted good, but not great. I do wish it came with some veggies to give it a refreshing and crunchy taste. The rice bowls come with miso soup which makes for a filling meal. The portions are big enough, that you could break it up into two meals. The staff are nice as well, they offered to throw out the garbage for us when they didn't have to. There is a trash can readily available for use when you're done. It's standard Japanese food which is good if you have a craving. I'm looking forward to trying their ramen next time around.

Scallion pancakes

Ordered thru Uber eats, the food came super quick and everything was still nice and hot. I absolutely loved the scallion pancakes with the sweet chilly sauce, delicious! I also ordered the Korean beef kimchi soup, So good! The broth was nice and creamy, perfectly seasoned. The beef was thinly sliced and tender. Everything was yummy, I will definitely keep on ordering.

Ordered from here a few weeks ago for the first time on Uber Eats and I was so content! Love their milk bubble tea & seafood ramen. I ordered again today and got an extra side of kimchi. Sooo rare to find good kimchi (for me at least - I'm Caribbean haha) WILL DEF KEEP ORDERING from them! Give them a try - you won't regret it!

Ube Swirl Milk Tea

Went to the closest bubble tea place while running errands and the ube swirl milk tea caught my eye! The boba were so soft and chewy and they did not cheap out on the amount of ube flavoring. I'd definitely come back to have this again and try their other bubble tea. I didn't get to try any of their food, but maybe next time

Great Buuble Tea. I'd definitely return for that. The Ramen was good but the tea is what keeps us coming back.

Maybe not cozy but you're not really going to linger here. Service is good but a little hectic. Friendly staff but they get a pass as they dish out noodles, apps, drinks and more. You're spoiled for choice here but everything is pretty good so I'll call out the extraordinary items. The fish broths are amazing, sweet in the seafood way with a deep richness of flavor. The black fish slices (poorly translated from Chinese, sorry) were satisfying. Boneless and tender. It's a small cost to upgrade from regular fish (I believe it's grass carp) but it's worth it though unfortunately I can't help much in terms of naming the upgrade in English. Their popcorn chicken is well executed, with light crunchy batter and well-seasoned meat. Their fruit drinks are nice too, including the pomelo grape and the peach. Ask for less sugar if that's your thing. Portions are ridiculous but admittedly we over ordered on purpose. Also, it's a common move to ask for the free noodle refill before getting your leftovers to go though we did not partake in the excess here. The bowls are already never-ending buckets of goodies. We did take our leftover broth though. No shame. In fact I'd be more ashamed if we wasted the soup.

I ate in the enclosed patio which only had two tables, and the inside didn't seem much bigger. There is no bathroom for customers so don't bank on bio breaks here. It's efficient in that I was seated promptly, was able to place my order when I was ready, and the food came out lickety-split. Carry cash for a discount. I ordered the Wonton, Dumpling, & Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($14.75) under the "Popular Items" section of the menu since it seemed sampler-esque. The wontons and dumplings were similar since they both contained shrimp and pork but I leaned towards the dumplings since they also included mushroom, bamboo, wood ear, and chives. The duck egg noodles, beef, and broth rounded out the awesomeness. Can't wait to return with others!

Walked in on a Saturday around 6pm and managed to get the last two top. Don't be surprised if you need to wait a bit on a Saturday or Sunday around lunch. At any rate, get the wonton noodle soup. Or the combo that includes dumpling and dace fish ball if you want to get wild. All the toppings are fat(!!) from the wontons to the dumplings and fish balls. It's great. But for me the real star of the show is those bouncy duck egg noodles. They have a bounce that really puts it at the top of the list for me when it comes to duck egg noodle/wonton noodles. A perfect comfort meal on a cold day. Throw in some vinegar or chili oil between bites and you're in for a treat. Also ordered the (imitation) shark fin soup. It was solid. Texture might not be for everyone, but nice thing to snack on while you wait for your food, but not necessary. Service is quick. The space as I mentioned is small and can feel a little cramped, but they offer takeout if you wanted to just bring it back home. I'd still recommend just dining in though. Overall, great spot. Also there's a decent discount if you pay with cash.

I wasn't eating, I was ASCENDING. The skewers? OUTRAGEOUS. Juicy, smoky, packed with cumin aroma, I legit had to stop and whisper "wow" after each stick. My taste buds were throwing a party. And then the milk-skin yogurt came in like an angel descending from the sky~ creamy, rich, perfectly sweet, cooling down all that heat like it knew exactly what my body needed. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was clean, fresh, and prepared very hygienically, which made the whole experience even better. I saw the person in front of me also went up because his order also wasn't served. He couldn't believe it's taking this long either. The amount of protein in the skewers was simply pathetic, feeling like one segment too short. One piece was completely fatty, and another segment was part of a bony cartilage which I had to spit out. We also tried their milk skin yogurt. It was pre-packaged in a cup. The texture was nice and silky. It was slightly sweet and not sour at all as I had feared. But at $5.50 that's an expensive cup of yogurt.

Let's start with the noodle. It is al dente and carry the soup really well. The braised beef made well too. The tenderness is just fine. However, I missed the big piece of meat instead of bite size chopped cube. It is easy to eat but could be more satisfying. The Shanghainese Pok Choy is a must in order to complete this dish authentically. However, it's overly chopped. I missed the couple halved Shanghainese Pok Choy placed nicely on the side.
