The staff that were there the Sunday before Memorial Day were very unwelcoming. I greeted them and one even tucked her lips to not say anything and looked directly at me after I greeted them saying hello. I then started to look around then heard them loudly greet other people who walked in the store. I had shopped there months before and did not have the same experience. I returned because I wanted to buy more of the product with my son but after that interaction I immediately left without buying anything and I won't return. All people should be treated the same and I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. read more

Pop on the Block is a gourmet popcorn shop. There are so, so many interesting flavors of popcorn, be it sweet, savory, or spicy. They offer samples if you'd like to try some. I was intrigued by the chocolate flavor. I was here with my family, my brother got the large bag of the white cheddar popcorn. I personally wouldn't have picked this flavor. The white cheddar was very obvious in this popcorn. It was salty and cheesy. The popcorn had a good crunch, it was very fresh despite it being bagged. Pop on the Block is a cute gourmet popcorn shop nestled in Olde Mystick Village. The staff working during my visit was very monotone, and so unwelcoming we almost left without buying anything at all. But we were here for popcorn nonetheless, I purchased a dill pickle popcorn seasoning that when I got it home- was solid as a rock, maybe due to the humid weather at the time. I scraped some out with a spoon and it tasted wonderful on a normal microwaveable bag of popcorn. The bag of cheddar popcorn we bought for the car ride home was stale and almost too salty to enjoy. Not sure if we just stumbled in on a bad day, but consistency is key! Every visit should be a good one! Would love to see better quality for the price in the future. read more

I almost passed this place but a lovely lady I was just opening the shop and I asked her if she had samples. She guided us to a small table where they had jars of different flavors of popcorn to try. The samples are in small little cups . The place is very clean and quaint with many different popcorn items whether you want to make it yourself or bags of flavors galore . They also sell chocolate popcorn pizzas, chocolate covered pretzels and a few other items to check out. We decided on 4 bags of popcorn Bacon & Cheese , banana split , peanut butter & jelly and cotton candy . The bacon and cheese is so delicious I will definitely come back for more. Cute little shop. I was looking For one last thing to put in gift bags. They have two different sizes and I got the smalls. They were 4 for $22! Great deal. Lots of fun and unique flavors. I'm not a big popcorn fan but my husband loves it. Any chance he can sample and buy something new to try, he will. They have classic flavors like kettle and buttered but also more unique options like buffalo chicken, cheese, Maryland crab, and plenty of sweet choice too. I placed an order 20 November. Called 9 December to check on status bc I never received shipment notice or tracking like I was told I would. I was then contacted by the owner who said my order was never shipped, apologized and promised it would go out on the 10th as priority. Today is 15 December... I called again with no information. Empoylee was clueless about my order status. Left my number for owner to contact me with intent to cancel if she never shipped last week and I just magically received shipment notification (ground btw NOT priority). Not impressed! First and last time I'll be shopping here since nothing was done to correct/rectify the situation and mistakes made on their behalf - TWICE! Someone was standing outside and wanted us to come in for samples and saw we had a dog. They still let us in. After a couple minutes, someone else that worked there said "I can take your dog outside" and we said no we got it and they asked again very rudely. My fiancé and I recently were in Mystic at the Old Village and saw a woman coming by with samples of popcorn. I can never say no to popcorn probably one of our favorite snacks! They flavors were unique and tasty! When we got closer to the end of the shops we made sure to stop by and try more samples! We walked out with 4 bags of popcorn and probably could have walked out with more. We want to now have a popcorn bar at our wedding reception which we plan on contacting this company for it! New location recently opened in the Old Mystic Shopping Village. Cute little space holding a huge variety of specialty popcorn. I believe they have over 50 flavor combinations. Pricey, as to be expected with any specialty food items. About $7 per small bag. They did have a special going on for buy 3 get one free. So we purchased Wisconsin Dark Cheddar, White Cheddar, Bacon & Cheddar, and Caramel Cheddar. They all were very good, but the caramel cheddar was our collected favorite of the bunch. Sounds weird but that sweetness with the cheddar is truly delicious. Bacon cheddar is their #1 selling flavor & it wasn't hard to see why - awesome! This chain is originated from RI and I am happy they chose to branch out into CT. I wish them continued success! read more
