Very nice store with friendly staff and great chocolate. I can't resist a little chocolate so when I saw Munson's while visiting Olde Mistick Village, I knew I had to stop. I picked up some peanut butter cups (dark chocolate) and I also had a chocolate coated chocolate chip ice cream sandwich that they sold. Both were great. Staff was friendly and last month I'd been at a chocolate store on the Cape and the prices here were much more friendly to my wallet. read more

Had lunch at the old mystic village w friends and we saw the signs and were drown in to stop in for the fresh chocolate dipped frozen bananas for dessert. What a great decision and a must stop for $3.99 it's well worth it. Very refreshing on a hot day. You can choose either the mild chocolate or dark chocolate. You won't be disappointed. The had 2 girls working but alittle slow service. But wasn't bad as they have a great AC system and was very cold waiting. read more

This is definitely not the best chocolate ever, but they do offer a great selection of treats, and it's CT's largest retail chocolate manufacturer with 8 stores sprinkled around the state. It's not cheap so when we do go we like to get the container of the "broken" pieces which may consist of 1 or several different kinds of candies. We tried the coconut clusters and were not impressed, but the truffles were excellent. They also have fudge and taffy. I would recommend stopping in. read more

Munson's is a Connecticut based Chocolate company, with only eight stores in our little state. I've received and given many Munson's gifts throughout the years. I really like their store in Mystic. Mystic is all about local, small businesses and this is a great place for one of their stores. As per usual there are lots of options of chocolate here, especially now that it's the holiday season. You'll find plenty of dark chocolate and milk chocolate choices, and some in between. On my recent visit to this store I got a half pound of dark chocolate covered raisins. I've always loved this, and sometimes if not stored correctly the chocolate is too hard, or too sticky. These are just perfect. I really enjoyed. The young man, was pleasant and efficient. There are lots of gift ready items, or items sold by weight. I highly recommend this Munson's location, in lovely Old Mystic Village. read more

We have stopped in many times while in Olde Mystic Village and bought quick treats for my children when they were young, but today I was on my own and was overwhelmed with the scent of mint when I walked in. I asked the woman behind the counter (very pleasant) what I was smelling and she showed me the candy in question. I was not disappointed in the half pound I purchased. This is an amazing Connecticut based chocolate shop. Everything isn't made in house but at their factory. Located right in Mystic Village, this is one of the local destination stops. I absolutely love their assorted chocolates to give for gifts but you can individual chocolates as well. I saw a sign outside of their shop for a homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich dipped in chocolate. My friend and I asked the cashier if the cookie was hard on the cookie and he said it's partially hard. There is nothing better than a soft chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich but he couldn't give us a full answer. We ordered it anyways and it was the best ice cream sandwich I've ever had. The crisp outer chocolate shell was the icing on the cake. It's a small sandwich but it's worth every penny. I can't wait to go back and get another one when I'm in town! read more

I gave 3 stars because the employees aren't very customer service driven & you feel rushed to pick your chocolates. There is a full case of chocolate & I felt like I couldn't take the time to look and truly decide what I wanted so I went with a handful of items I know I already like. Munson's would definitely be on my "not to miss" list of Mistik Village. While lots of other places are blatantly price gouging here I don't feel this place is as all. And the quality of the chocolate here is pretty fabulous. I highly recommend the chocolate and wine truffles. I wish I bought more because I wiped them out almost immediately. Also for the shopper who appreciates chocolate and a bargain, they have delicious little tubs of misshapen chocolate on the cheap. Stopped by while on a visit to Mystic for the day; I noticed they have a bunch of "Factory Seconds" plastic containers filled with random chocolates that are, as the container describes them, "imperfect confections. An awkward shape - A unique size - But just as Scrumptious!" If you're just planning on stuffing your own face and don't mean for the chocolates to be a gift, this is the way to go. Very tasty! Do not get the fudge - rancid nuts even though was told was fresh - which it really wasn't. The fudge was even really hard so don't know how it could have been fresh...should have realized when I watched the server cut the fudge. (Due to covid was unable to try it before leaving the Mystic Village store.) When I called the store as well as the corporate office was not asked how to make it better...had purchased $8 of fudge (1/2 lb.) Chocolate almond toffee was good though and hubby enjoyed. I'm a Chocoholic and Munsons rates right up there with the best of them. Living on the West Coast, my East Coaster husband raved about Munson's for weeks before visiting his family. I was a bit skeptical. Chocolate is a hard thing to get right. So many places use fillers (high fructose corn syrup, hydrogentated crap, impossible to pronounce chemicals), cheap ingredients or just pile on way too much sugar. I'm happy to say Munson's isn't one of them. Their chocolate is rich with just the right amount of milk to cacao ratio and no overly sweet aftertaste. When you bite into it for the first time, you can tell the quality of ingredients that have been used. Now onto what I've gotten-- Chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Oh my! Why is this a seasonal item? Fresh whole macadamia nuts covered in their chocolate is divine. Peanut butter cups. Rich is an understatement. The peanut butter is smooth, salty and aromatic. Surround it with a thick hunk of chocolate and it's deadly. The Chipwitch. OMG. Every time I've come to the East coast they have been out of this. However, FINALLY, they were in stock on my last visit. Let me describe this for you. Creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two large chocolate chip cookies. Sounds pretty basic right? Not after they dip the ENTIRE THING into a vat of their chocolate! The flavor of Munson's chocolate combined with the crunch of the cookie and vanilla ice cream is perfection. I tied two of their chocolates and a bag of sour fruit hard candies and the chocolates were delicious, if a bit pricy for just two.
