I have been a patient of Dr Pirkle's for 21 years. Was shocked to see some negative reviews. I…read moreknew the negatives couldn't be for medical care, because the medical care is exceptional. Then realized the negative reviews are all some form of displeasure with the "concierge/membership/subscription" type model of the practice. Guess I would be disappointed, too, if I was unaware of that and my expectations were not met. Totally get that this model may not be for everyone but I'm grateful I'm allowed to have a choice. Is Dr. Ross Pirkle worth the modest additional cost? My Answer: Yes Yes and...Yes. Cost: This may be dated but i believe the cost is around $800/year or $79/month in addition to what specific insurance coverage you have. What are the additional benefits for that cost? There are objective and subjective answers. The objective items are described on Cornerstone Primary Care's website. The subjective differences, in my case, are overwhelmingly compelling and have allowed me access to the highest levels of proficiency, human decency and efficacy in my medical care I think is possible. Living in the SF Bay Area, we are blessed with access to some of the best medical care in the world. We have insurance that can cover millions in medical cost if required and hopefully it won't be required. Your primary care doctor is the front end to this remarkable and vast resource. Your primary care doctor is the one you see the most, that gets to know you, that is responsible for your entire wellbeing from top to bottom. Because of my medical challenges, for me not to spend a few additional dollars to get access to a premium primary care doctor would be like putting a bus driver in a formula one car and hoping for the best. I don't know the status of Dr Pirkle accepting new patients but I believe if you're at a point in life where medical care is more of a priority (like me), you owe it to yourself to inquire. I strongly feel you will find it well worth it.

Dr. Ferguson was one of a handful of highly qualified (and personable) integrative/functional physicians in the Bay area--who also accepted insurance & medicare. Now she's gone. The health practitioners she recommends are out of my budget because they offer boutique care...in some cases you have to pay X amount per year to be a member of their club--forget about insurance coverage like before. It's also getting harder to be accepted as a 'new' patient by pill-pushing doctors. I was referred to this medical group and was assigned Dr. Wasserman after a long search for any…read moredoctor that would accept workers comp insurance. My Primary care Physician and the workers comp system had me write a biography to try to get anyone to look at my case (it is outside the usual workers comp claim). I give two stars due to the fact that they even agreed to see me. 0 stars for the care provided or the interest in a patient's health. I feel that any time that was spent was waisted, that the doctor had little to no interest in helping, and that the testing performed was 95% repeated from previous health providers. The Office was unclear regarding scheduling and what testing was being performed. I waited many months to see this Doctor that was intended to be the "Sherlock Holmes " for infectious diseases. I felt it was more of a parking attendant situation. This may all be due to worker's compensation system being so broken that my consultation with this office was simply a way to casually bill the system.... never intending to help the patient. Patient's visiting with functional insurance policies may have a completely different experience. I have found this painfully obvious while trying to get help. If you are looking for help and using worker's compensation.... I would save yourself the time and disappointment. I would also save the worker's compensation system the money. Sincerely disappointing.

I went to see Dr. O'Regan yesterday for a new patient exam. I indicated to the scheduling staff…read morethat I was experiencing severe neck and shoulder pain and needed to see the doctor. It has always been my understanding through the Anthem Blue Cross HMO system that if a patients wants a referral to a specialist, they can do so, but first must meet with their PCP. So while at first Dr. O'Regan seemed friendly, towards the end of my very short 15-minute appointment, she managed to leave a very bad first impression. So much so that I sat on the exam table in utter disbelief that a doctor of her "maturity" could be so apathetic towards a patient. Before deciding to switch to another PCP, I asked myself these questions. What sort of doctor would refuse your request to see a specialist when you've stated you've had chronic joint pain? Instead, Dr. O'Regan said she's determine my pain was solely muscular and that I didn't need a referral. I have never had a PCP refuse my request for a referral. What sort of doctor would refuse to write a letter to your employer to request certain work area accommodations be made to reduce your muscular pain (chronic or not)? Again, this wasn't a difficult request and it certainly wouldn't have taken Dr. O'Regan more than a couple of minutes to write. What sort of doctor would refuse to answer questions of a concerned patient who asks for her doctor's professional advice? Instead, Dr. O'Regan said she didn't have time because she had a busy schedule and that answering my question would require me to make another appointment for an office visit! I even explained to her that I worked in SF and try to minimize the time away from work. The time it took for her to explain why she couldn't answer my questions was enough time to answer most of my concerns to begin with! I have NEVER had a doctor tell me she didn't have time for me. How can she be a doctor with this attitude? I also shared my negative experience with my work colleagues, friends, and husband and the consensus was that if Dr. O'Regan could be so cold by showing more concern about the number of patients she had to see in the day (that's managed healthcare for you!) rather than show empathy and concern for her patient sitting in front of her, she would be unlikely to show empathy or concern for me in the future. No problem here, Dr. O'Regan. I will gladly give up my spot on your exam table for the next unlucky patient who doesn't value her time as much as I do. Bye-bye
