The company charged me $218. because I didn't use enough propane for the year. They told me I couldn't go to a cheaper plan. I was told they don't sell propane tanks so I would have to stay with the plan I had. I tried several times to talk to the manager with no call back from him. I'm leaving this company and going with Pep Up. Pep Up communicates with there costumers in a timely manner and was completely transparent with me. For 30 years my elderly Mom and Dad have done business with them and always paid on time. One time during financial hardship they had an 83 dollar balance out of 600 we had already paid and we were not informed of it. This was June of 2025. My father had passed away and my mother was working on getting an income so she could handle this. We didn't know it was still owed until the day they called in June saying they were ripping her tanks out over 83 dollars. They said the truck was already on the way. We managed to get the 83 together but then unbeknownst to us they changed her account status to COD or that you have to pay on the phone the moment you order or pay the truck driver. We had relied on having 30 days of grace to pay our bill over the course of 30 years and always paid on time except for last June when she was having some difficulty paying off the balance of 83 dollars. 83 dollars. That was it. She was having difficulty because my father died. It's sad because they make hundreds a year off us and over the course of 30 years thousands. They have no mercy and no sympathy for anyone. If 83 dollars is that dire for them as a company perhaps they shouldn't be in business or they should do a better job informing their customers. Anyone who is looking for propane to heat their house or use for cooking don't use Poore's. They used to be a good company but now they are just greedy and lack any mercy towards their customers. This company will try to pin a $500 bill on you (when you haven't even lived in the location for a year) and then have their uneducated attack dog Michelle try to belittle you. This person will talk down to you, bully you and try to push you into a corner. Honey, you've met the wrong one today. I told you what was gonna happen, then it did happen and then you wanted to call me back and tell me I was "lucky that I don't have to pay a $500 bill". very very bad customer servic! received a bill in January for tank rental( funny the amount equals the amount of propane I didn't buy from them in the past year. I call talk to lady, I'm told someone will call me with in ten days. I ask for number it would be so I would answer other wise tell them they need to leave a message so I'll call them back. 14 days latter still no call or messages . then I get a email with bill and I respond with the questions I have on there billin. maybe it's just the unprofessional Poores in chestertown ( need some people training on customer service. your custard not your wife or dog so why treat us like we are. questions once again! Still trying to get answers to my questions on my propane tanks. My only response is your bill is past due. I replied not as past due of your answers to my questions. Poores you send me a bully letter stating my account is on hold til I pay a bill that you made up in thin air. Understand I owe tank rental, but it's confusing that I had to talk Poores into letting me rent two tanks( that I would of not done if you was charging per tank(1st red flag on this bill) Then when I say come get the 2nd tank you state I need two tanks((2nd red flag) Then I figured out what Poores charging me in tank rental is how much I saved on not using gas! Beware of this company!! Without warning they started randomly charging a monthly fee to read the meter even though (or maybe because) you previously reported that you would not be using gas. This practice was started without warning to customers after years of not doing so. After discovering this change, I called to have the meter removed. Since that time I received a bill for them having read the meter the month I called with a $9.50 finance for a supposedly prorated "meter reading" charge of $6.50. Totally ridiculous. I would loved to know who in the company thought this would be an improvement. What a lousy business practice and display of rotten customer service. read more

We have been trying to deal with two simple issues with poores for the last three weeks without any success. The call answering staff just arbitrarily transfers you to someone else who won't answer the phone and makes you leave a voice mail that they never return. All I can say is that if the sale of our home gets held up because of poores negligent, then my attorney and I will own poores before its all over. Poorest propane is the worst company. And the employees are rude as F. You better believe they will turn your propane off if you cannot pay. It is freezing out and they could care less if you can afford to pay. And if you cannot come up with money they will keep it locked till you come up with the money. THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU FREEZE TO DEATH. As a company they are horrible. Very insensitive they have no empathy or compassion towards people in the time of need. If I had the ability to leave no stars I would. I've dealt with this company for 10 years. I've always tried to be nice to the supposed "smiling" people (I use the word people lightly). However, They've stated that they've sent emails, letters and phone calls concerning my account being late. Unfortunately I've run into tough times during the last two years. However I've always settled up the bill and have always paid the late fees and whatever I've owed. However, with all that's been going on they apparently shut your propane off after 60 days. They stated they called me and my wife. that never happened. I wasn't even aware that they had sent someone over to shut my home heating off. I was ready to pay my bill and they had shut me off. Now the bill is paid in full but Poores will not send anyone to turn my heat back on. it's like a punishment to them. I will be without heat, hot water or the ability to cook for my children for another three days. so Five days total. The unfeeling people who work for this company should be a shame of themselves. On top of that when I had paid them early this morning they said that they would email me my receipt. That never happened but they got their mon y. It was deducted from my account as fast as they could. I wish I could say I've had a good relationship with this company but its been like pulling teeth when it comes to being helpful. Don't get me started on the consistent price increases and absent customer service. I will be looking for another company for my heating utilities. The temperature will be 29 degrees this weekend and nobody will come out after paying a $700 bill. terrible, disgusting people. read more

I bought the house and it came with their tank. It's down now to about 20%, so time to top it up. I called Wilkins first, but they won't top up another company's tank. I can kind of understand that. So, Poores it is. They need to set up an account and fill out an application. I don't want a job, I need propane, but OK. I'll play the game. Name, address (OK), SSN? DOB? Previous addresses??? I'm not buying a house from them! Maybe they want my DUNS number, too? Run a background check on me while they're at it? I have an account with Wilkins based upon trust already set up for oil. They will come out and remove Poores tank and replace it with theirs. It may be a bit more expensive this way, but I feel better about it. read more

We had Poores Propane come out and fill us up once and then we immediately cancelled our account. We were billed the full rate ($2.89) per gallon, even though we were entitled to a discounted rate as we own our tank. They sent out a technician without notifying us, and told us we would be billed $100 for it and it could not be cancelled. **We switched to SHARP and could not be happier, they even came out on Christmas Eve to make sure we were not out of propane for the holidays and their rate is $1 less per gallon!** read more

Just switched from my long time supplier to Poore's.... They were about half the price of my old supplier! Zero issues with Customer service. They called back when they said and delivered Propane when they said. They also have a great pre buy program that I just took advantage of. read more

I ordered propane from Poors the driver went to the wrong house and left saying no one or on money was there. I was out side taking my dog out wen he drove by.Yet they charge more if you run out of propane. It a scam if your drivers can read an address. read more

October 2, 2019, I had a service call to prepare and clean our two fireplaces for cool weather use. Jim arrived on time, very personable, explained all he was doing in preparing the fireplaces and gave me a tutorial on how to best operate them. One fireplace has significant issues and needs to have components replaced which Jim ordered. Jim was extremely thorough and lead me to have a high degree of confidence in his work as he explained every step. read more

I have.been unemployed for over a year. My propane was disconnected for a week because I didn't have the money to pay the bill. I Had to wait until I received my next unemployment check. When the technician Mike came to Reconnect service he was unable to get my fireplace working. I explained it was working fine until the propane was disconnected . He tried to relit the fireplace was an able to do it. The fireplace was working just fine before the propane was turned off I had used it all winter long. When I explain that to him he told me if I had paid my bill we wouldn't be having this conversation. People are struggling during this horrible time for somebody to say that to a customer is Appalling. I had to pay $95 for them to come out and turn back on my propane and relight all of my appliances. Now I have to have another company come out to relight my fireplace which is going be more money. Stay away do not deal with this company they don't care if people are struggling they don't care if there's elderly or children in the house. They don't care do not use Poores Propane. Unfortunately I have no choice because we have a Substation in our development And a homeowners association has a contract with them. read more
