They had a sign advertising $6 for a 12-ounce cup on Thursdays, so I decided to stop in for the first time--this was on a Saturday. I filled my bowl with pineapple, cheesecake yogurt, and coconut topping, then went to check out. That's when I was told my cup weighed 16 ounces and the total came out to $15 before tip. Apparently, on regular days, it's 75 cents per ounce, with additional charges for toppings. That was my first--and definitely last--visit. I'm not sure why they list it as a one-dollar spot, because this is clearly a $$$$ kind of place.... Denton, Texas read more

Unfortunately this yogurt story location 1800 S Lp 288, Ste 393, Denton, TX 76205 is super bad. As soon as you walk in, the odor of toilet and sewage smacks you in the face. Even as you get your frozen yogurt it still comes in and you can't help but notice so many gnats eating the same yogurt you're trying to get. I love self serve frozen yogurt but the sanitation of this place is just not it. I don't think it's anything the employees can do to fix it- management need to go in and do major renovation and fixing. Also not sure why on google reviews does it say Pooky's Famous Yogurt (maybe as a joke?) they might want to get it fixed. Also on google reviews the owner is asking guests to remove reviews from their profile and post elsewhere which is pretty sketch. read more

Happy customer. I've been coming here for about 10 years. Never had an issue. Visited today and saw that. They now have added a tiki hut. With some adult frozen beverages. Great idea! They all looked very refreshing considering it was hot and humid outside. The prices were, awesome. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful today and let me know about their weekly specials. Tuesday they have drink specials and Thursdays they have five dollar fill your cup (Froyo). So glad we came on a Thursday because the folks in my group filled their cups to the brim and only paid five dollars!!! read more

I love Pookys! Especially the $5 fill up deal on Thursdays. I have 5 siblings and it's a great deal for the whole family to go.

I decided to go to Pooky's with my friends and after we've half way finished our cup we all instantly became sick, and with a bad migraine. We literally felt like we had gotten food poisoning, also the cashier was lowkey racist. She gave a discount to my two friends who were pale skinned and didn't give me one who for context Is black. read more

Frozen yogurt is a hit with my daughter! Service was great and the place was clean. We sampled a few of the flavors and they were all good. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. The servings are weighed to determine the price which was reasonable. read more

Lactose free yogurt!!!! A dream come true for this lactose intolerant gal! Wish all of the food industry could jump on this train!!!

It's unfortunate that most nights we have gone between the hours 8:45pm to 9:00pm, their options are limited in the toppings due to the staff cleaning when the store closes at 10pm. The location is not maintained very well and the counter area is dirty with sauce, toppings scattered and melted yogurt. read more

No toilet paper in restroom no paper towels! Dirty! the frozen yogurt was gross not creamy like ice. will never waste my money again!!!

Pretty hard to get a bad rating as a froyo spot. But congratulations yogurt story, yall exceeded my expectations. The store smelt like a porta potty. Subsequently we were bombarded by flies while eating. Place could use a cleaning. Floors are sticky seats are messy. Mind you this was 45 minutes after they opened.. I would hate to see this place at 8pm. Won't be back read more

This location is unorganized. The toppings aren't labeled. When you walk in, it smells like dirty restrooms. Yesterday my family and I walked in and they were fixing 2-3 machines which meant 4-6 flavors were out which normally wouldn't bother me but when we walked in, no one said anything about what was going on. The guy fixing had tools all over the machines and we had to ask what was going on. What threw me off the most though was the smell of the location. read more

Yogurt and toppings were very good. Grandkids loved it! Wish they had more sugar free options than just vanilla.

Just moved to the area from North Richland Hills. This place pales in comparison to Sweet Frog. I wish they would get one in Denton! The selection here isn't nearly as good. No cotton candy yogurt, no wafer cookies, the store is dirtier, the men's bathroom was dirty and the toilet was clogged with a chocolate python. The biggest turn off though, was that the service was bad. I came up to the counter with my yogurt selection and said to the cashier "hi how are you today?" No answer. Finally, she says "together? Are you two together? Can you remove your yogurt from the scale then? She never made eye contact and made no effort to be friendly, although I was friendly to her. I don't plan on coming back. Sweet Frog in frisco is a far drive but will be worth not coming here again. As for the yogurt, the strawberry was on par with other yogurt shops, which is pretty good. The watermelon was unpleasant and really sour. read more

My wife and I like frozen yogurt and this store in Denton is an excellent one. It had a good variety of flavors (and all of them were working) and an excellent selections of toppings. The also serves coffee drinks and frozen drinks. I will go back and can recommend the place. read more

Compared to other yogurt places I think there could be more options of yogurt here. Or at least switch them out more often. The flavors here are good though. Toppings are great and always fresh. This place is disgusting. It smelled like sewage when we went in. After we got our yogurt, i went to the restroom and the smell intensified. I lost my appetite for the rest of the day. This place needs to be closed. read more

I love the yogurt store with the set up like this one. Yogurt machines with different flavors and a toppings bar. Create your own masterpiece and pay for it by the ounce. Just be really careful with the over-sized cups they give you because it is easy to get carried away. My favorite is to try a little bit of everything (at least like 4 flavors) and add a bunch of toppings that at least sort of go together: froyo suicides (like soda suicides)! The best flavor combo was cake batter with mini reese's pieces. This place gets 4 stars because none of their machines were out of order, which is more common than you might think. It doesn't get 5 stars because I have seen a bigger selection of flavors and toppings for cheaper by the ounce before. read more

So... I hauled my mom and kids up to this place looking for a cool, delicious, not going to blow the diet sort of treat. This is only my second "yogurt joint" experience and everybody else's first. I was really excited about all the fancy flavors! They had cookies and cream, Georgia peach, chocolate, peanut butter, cheesecake, and several others that I have forgotten now. I went with a bit of the chocolate and Georgia peach. They had a very nice selection of toppings ranging from fresh fruits, candies, to sprinkles of many varieties. First bite of that Georgia peach made me a fan for life. SOOOOOO GOOD! The chocolate was equally yummy but not nearly as fresh and distinct. I am definitely going back!!! Even Mom, who is a complete ice cream snob LOVED it! Yea Ha! We got ourselves a new place for snack'n! Update from next day (yes, it was THAT good!): I went back today and tried pistachio, strawberry, and some more peach all were delicious, scrumptious, and fabulous!!! I paid more attention and found that it is $.35 an ounce which is a dad-gum bargain and 0 fat!!! WOO HOO! Yep! Still rock'n them 5 stars! read more

Good place with a couple of dairy free options. Decent variety and the only thing I saw was the floor and tables were pretty dirty, however considering a lot of kids come through each day I could see how you'd have to stay on top of the cleaning constantly. We will go back. read more

Good topping selection, friendly staff, and the place seemed clean and well kept! They offer a student discount and had lots of fun options (like froyo tacos). Hand sanitizer is provided at the station, employees wore masks. I'll definitely be back! read more

Dairy free options and all the possible toppings! I go here every time I'm in the area!

absolutely not. always smells like sewage, and the employee shut down 30 minutes early for no reason. the website AND the front door said 9:30, we went in at 9:00 and she said she was closed and when we asked about it she hesitated and said the site was wrong. even tho it's right on the door as well. plus their toppings never seem very fresh or filled, and the smell is always bad. we then went to the location on University - far far more pleasant! read more

I've been seeing this bright green sign for weeks, but haven't been able to get over there to get the full Yogurt Story. Today, I arranged my errands around including this place. I was expecting it to be something like Pinkberry or Orange Cup, both of which I have tried and been somewhat frustrated at the price, serving size and employee control over every step of the process. Yogurt Story tries to offer all the fun toppings, flavors and textures of the other places, but lets you build it yourself. You walk in and there are no frozen yogurt machines behind the counter, only an employee and register. Looking around, you see stacks of giant pasteboard bowls and 5 yogurt machines at your disposal, each with 2 flavors and the ability to twist those 2 flavors. The flavors all sound appealing and the giant bowl suggests you could try them all, but you probably won't. After dispensing the first flavor that appealed to me, I realized it was going to be hard to make a nice looking peak, so I stopped trying. Ultimately, I tried 4 out of the 10 flavors and layered a couple to make my own mixes. At the toppings station, there was plenty of new and exciting options to choose from including a couple of things I didn't immediately recognize and might should have asked about. I was quite surprised that my entire bowl was only around $4.00 at the final weigh-in. I had the white chocolate macadamia with tiny white chips and shredded coconut on top, NY cheesecake with Fruity Pebbles, Alpine Vanilla with granola, and Georgia Peach with what I initially thought was mango, but seemed to be canned peaches. The white chocolate macadamia was the flavor I was most excited about, but it was also the biggest disappointment as the macadamia extract overwhelmed the white chocolate. The alpine vanilla was rather unexceptional as everyone else has said, but more palatable to me than the macadamia. The cheesecake was tangy enough, but didn't really make me think of NY cheesecake. The Georgia peach was clearly the winner for me. The price, toppings and atmosphere were all sufficient to make me want to try some of the other flavors like pistachio and cookies and cream. read more

If you've never been to a place like Yogurt Story, you will probably love it. I think this is the kind of place to get everyone excited about frozen yogurt. The format is that you take one big cup, and fill it with whatever you want. There are several different flavors of yogurt, and several different toppings. You make it yourself and pay for it based on how much it weighs. That means that you can put whatever you want in it (with great power comes great responsibility, that's all I'll say). The yogurt does taste more like soft-serve ice cream than some frozen yogurts. Yogurt purists would say that's a bad thing. Personally, I don't much care for the taste of "real" yogurt. It has an odd bitter flavor that is very off-putting to me. So if you have children, or you don't care for the flavor of yogurt much, it is a safe choice (and probably much healthier). At places with this kind of format, the yogurt is rarely the focus, it's much more about the toppings than anything else. And the toppings are great. It isn't by far the best yogurt place of its type that I've been to, but I am rejoicing in the fact that one of these places finally exists in DENTON. Even if it is in the 7th circle of hell we call 288. Anyway, you must try this place at least once. I think it's something everyone will really enjoy. read more

Yay!!!!! I can not tell you how excited i was to find this place!! I went w 7 other girls and it was so fun! There are 12? Flavors of frozen yogurt to choose from and 30? Toppings!! I choose cheesecake w strawberries on one half and vanilla yogurt w butterfinger for the other half. You pay .35 per oz i think and it's decorated in girly happy colors. Oh and it was AMAZING!! Yummo!! I will go back ANY time i see one! read more

I believe the concept is good, but they really could expand their idea into more. To me its a basic ice cream shop (except its Yogurt) with flavors and they charge by the oz. I think its a cute spot to hang out with friends and grab a snack or perhaps take a date for a snack. They really should stay opened later. I dislike how everything in this city closes down by 11 on the weekends, especially for those late night people who like to actually do something other than bars and fast food. I like it, great, just more flavors and more toppings. read more

I would love it if this place would carry almond or coconut milk vegan ice cream like TCBY. Their sorbet is ok but is not always labeled dairy-free. Those of us with dairy issues (many, many people) currently cannot enjoy soft-serve unless we trek down to Green Spot in Dallas or TCBY when they happen to carry it. Mean Greens has soy soft serve, but they are never open on weekends or holidays, and I don't go to UNT. read more

Yogurt Story is amazing!!! Wayyyy better than yogurt fusion in the square...they even have original tart which is perfection for the basic froyo eater...just wish they had fruity pebbles or captn crunch berries to go with the froyo. YUMMY IN MY TUMMY! My mouth is getting watery just thinking about this place. =D I really love fro-yo. I want it all the time. Ugh, if I was to add up how much money I spent on fro-yo since 2004..nvm, I don't wanna know. ;) My boyfriend thinks I'm a fatass because I always want to come here. He didn't exactly say those words out loud, but I know he's thinking it! =P They have a pretty good selection of different yogurt flavors and toppings here. The toppings are usually pretty fresh too. However, the quality of the original yogurt flavor has gone down slightly since my boyfriend and I first visited this place in August. It's still pretty good, and one of the best I've tried in the area. This place is usually pretty busy. It gets super packed during weekends. They have a punch card but they don't always hand it out, so ask for one. read more

If i had one bad thing to say about this place, it is that I wish it were free. I love this super tasty, super do-it-yourself style of yogurt shops that have popped up everywhere. I love going in and getting a plain yogurt with blackberries, strawberries, and kiwi just as much as I love getting red velvet cake mixed with cheesecake and every bit of candy I can find. Delish. Just be careful, its way easy to get way too much. And then your spending too much money and wasting the deliciousness! read more

It's still open...they were remodeling in March. Flavors are pretty good. I've had better cheesecake elsewhere, but the chocolate was good. The topping bar was also nice and clean. I watched the owner/manager take out one of the shallow containers and replace it with a clean, new one, and THEN put in more toppings. (Liked that...I always wonder how old the toppings on the bottom are in some of these places.) Pricing is good, and I never feel over-charged. read more

Totally delicious. Serve yourself style frozen yogurt from the machines you pull levers on. Each set of flavors has a swirl lever in the middle, so you can go crazy and mix it up. They change up the flavors every couple of weeks. For the traditional ice cream lovers, try the vanilla, chocolate, or cookies in cream. For the fruit lover they usually have a selection from blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, or peach. For the more adventurous they have flavors like coffee, red velvet, or birthday cake, or original tart. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of the flavors here. Toppings include a wide variety of fresh fruits, cheesecake bites, mochi, coconut, chocolate or rainbow sprinkles, crushed up candy bars, cereals like fruity pebbles and captian crunch, chocolate chips, mini m&ms or reese's pieces, etc. Once again probably forgetting a lot here. My favorite combo is blueberry or raspberry, strawberry, and original tart, covered in cheesecake bites and rainbow sprinkles. Be careful about overfilling the cups they give you, they hold a whole lot of yogurt! I go about 1/3 to 1/2 way full and it's usually only about $3.50. Great for an after-dinner snack! read more

A great place to get froyo! It's cheap, flavorful and it has a great ambiance. I like that they sell yogurt by the weight and you can use those sample cups to sample the flavors. Did i mention that they have an awesome spread of toppings? I secretly think that the yogurt is not really low fat and all natural. It taste too good to be true! BTW if i compared this to yogurt land in carrolton, yogurt land wins hands down! It's wee bit cheaper and the flavors are awesom(er)! read more

Great place to get some dessert! The inside is well maintained and clean! Pretty good selection of yogurt flavors but I wish they had more toppings!!! read more

I love this place. The place is always clean and well maintained. The fruits and toppings are always neatly displayed. If there's ever a spill, the staff will immediately clean it up. Something that I find very crucial in the service industry is the costumer service. The staff here is always friendly. I love the chocolate flavored yogurt this place has to offer. I can taste the richness of the flavor (as in chocolate flavor, no watery taste) as it melts into my mouth. Topped with caramel and some crushed Oreos, you got yourself one very tasty dessert. At 35 cents per ounce, my usual total for an outing here reaches $12 (well, that's when I bring two very hungry kids and face them with unlimited flow of yogurt and candy). Thank you to the person who created the yogurt cups, because if it were any bigger, it would hurt my wallet. Kids love to fill that cup up with yogurt and toppings until it starts to form a mountain on top of the cup. This place is a great place to bring kids here for a treat. read more
