Unfortunately this yogurt story location 1800 S Lp 288, Ste 393, Denton, TX 76205 is super bad. As soon as you walk in, the odor of toilet and sewage smacks you in the face. Even as you get your frozen yogurt it still comes in and you can't help but notice so many gnats eating the same yogurt you're trying to get. I love self serve frozen yogurt but the sanitation of this place is just not it. I don't think it's anything the employees can do to fix it- management need to go in and do major renovation and fixing. Also not sure why on google reviews does it say Pooky's Famous Yogurt (maybe as a joke?) they might want to get it fixed. Happy customer. I've been coming here for about 10 years. Never had an issue. Visited today and saw that. They now have added a tiki hut. With some adult frozen beverages. Great idea! They all looked very refreshing considering it was hot and humid outside. The prices were, awesome. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful today and let me know about their weekly specials. Tuesday they have drink specials and Thursdays they have five dollar fill your cup (Froyo). This location is unorganized. The toppings aren't labeled. When you walk in, it smells like dirty restrooms. Yesterday my family and I walked in and they were fixing 2-3 machines which meant 4-6 flavors were out which normally wouldn't bother me but when we walked in, no one said anything about what was going on. Just moved to the area from North Richland Hills. This place pales in comparison to Sweet Frog. I wish they would get one in Denton! The selection here isn't nearly as good. No cotton candy yogurt, no wafer cookies, the store is dirtier, the men's bathroom was dirty and the toilet was clogged with a chocolate python. The biggest turn off though, was that the service was bad. I came up to the counter with my yogurt selection and said to the cashier "hi how are you today?" No answer. Finally, she says "together? Are you two together? Can you remove your yogurt from the scale then? She never made eye contact and made no effort to be friendly, although I was friendly to her. I don't plan on coming back. Sweet Frog in frisco is a far drive but will be worth not coming here again. As for the yogurt, the strawberry was on par with other yogurt shops, which is pretty good. I love the yogurt store with the set up like this one. Yogurt machines with different flavors and a toppings bar. Create your own masterpiece and pay for it by the ounce. Just be really careful with the over-sized cups they give you because it is easy to get carried away. My favorite is to try a little bit of everything (at least like 4 flavors) and add a bunch of toppings that at least sort of go together: froyo suicides (like soda suicides)! The best flavor combo was cake batter with mini reese's pieces. This place gets 4 stars because none of their machines were out of order, which is more common than you might think. So... I hauled my mom and kids up to this place looking for a cool, delicious, not going to blow the diet sort of treat. This is only my second "yogurt joint" experience and everybody else's first. I was really excited about all the fancy flavors! They had cookies and cream, Georgia peach, chocolate, peanut butter, cheesecake, and several others that I have forgotten now. I went with a bit of the chocolate and Georgia peach. They had a very nice selection of toppings ranging from fresh fruits, candies, to sprinkles of many varieties. First bite of that Georgia peach made me a fan for life. SOOOOOO GOOD! The chocolate was equally yummy but not nearly as fresh and distinct. I am definitely going back!!! Even Mom, who is a complete ice cream snob LOVED it! Yea Ha! We got ourselves a new place for snack'n! I've been seeing this bright green sign for weeks, but haven't been able to get over there to get the full Yogurt Story. Today, I arranged my errands around including this place. I was expecting it to be something like Pinkberry or Orange Cup, both of which I have tried and been somewhat frustrated at the price, serving size and employee control over every step of the process. Yogurt Story tries to offer all the fun toppings, flavors and textures of the other places, but lets you build it yourself. You walk in and there are no frozen yogurt machines behind the counter, only an employee and register. Looking around, you see stacks of giant pasteboard bowls and 5 yogurt machines at your disposal, each with 2 flavors and the ability to twist those 2 flavors. The flavors all sound appealing and the giant bowl suggests you could try them all, but you probably won't. After dispensing the first flavor that appealed to me, I realized it was going to be hard to make a nice looking peak, so I stopped trying. Ultimately, I tried 4 out of the 10 flavors and layered a couple to make my own mixes. At the toppings station, there was plenty of new and exciting options to choose from including a couple of things I didn't immediately recognize and might should have asked about. I was quite surprised that my entire bowl was only around $4.00 at the final weigh-in. I had the white chocolate macadamia with tiny white chips and shredded coconut on top, NY cheesecake with Fruity Pebbles, Alpine Vanilla with granola, and Georgia Peach with what I initially thought was mango, but seemed to be canned peaches. The white chocolate macadamia was the flavor I was most excited about, but it was also the biggest disappointment as the macadamia extract overwhelmed the white chocolate. The alpine vanilla was rather unexceptional as everyone else has said, but more palatable to me than the macadamia. The cheesecake was tangy enough, but didn't really make me think of NY cheesecake. The Georgia peach was clearly the winner for me. The price, toppings and atmosphere were all sufficient to make me want to try some of the other flavors like pistachio and cookies and cream. read more

If you've never been to a place like Yogurt Story, you will probably love it. I think this is the kind of place to get everyone excited about frozen yogurt. The format is that you take one big cup, and fill it with whatever you want. There are several different flavors of yogurt, and several different toppings. You make it yourself and pay for it based on how much it weighs. That means that you can put whatever you want in it (with great power comes great responsibility, that's all I'll say). The yogurt does taste more like soft-serve ice cream than some frozen yogurts. Yogurt purists would say that's a bad thing. Personally, I don't much care for the taste of "real" yogurt. It has an odd bitter flavor that is very off-putting to me. So if you have children, or you don't care for the flavor of yogurt much, it is a safe choice (and probably much healthier). At places with this kind of format, the yogurt is rarely the focus, it's much more about the toppings than anything else. And the toppings are great. It isn't by far the best yogurt place of its type that I've been to, but I am rejoicing in the fact that one of these places finally exists in DENTON. Even if it is in the 7th circle of hell we call 288. Anyway, you must try this place at least once. I think it's something everyone will really enjoy. read more

I believe the concept is good, but they really could expand their idea into more. To me its a basic ice cream shop (except its Yogurt) with flavors and they charge by the oz. I think its a cute spot to hang out with friends and grab a snack or perhaps take a date for a snack. They really should stay opened later. I dislike how everything in this city closes down by 11 on the weekends, especially for those late night people who like to actually do something other than bars and fast food. It's still pretty good, and one of the best I've tried in the area. This place is usually pretty busy. It gets super packed during weekends. I watched the owner/manager take out one of the shallow containers and replace it with a clean, new one, and THEN put in more toppings. Totally delicious. Serve yourself style frozen yogurt from the machines you pull levers on. Each set of flavors has a swirl lever in the middle, so you can go crazy and mix it up. They change up the flavors every couple of weeks. For the traditional ice cream lovers, try the vanilla, chocolate, or cookies in cream. For the fruit lover they usually have a selection from blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, or peach. For the more adventurous they have flavors like coffee, red velvet, or birthday cake, or original tart. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of the flavors here. Toppings include a wide variety of fresh fruits, cheesecake bites, mochi, coconut, chocolate or rainbow sprinkles, crushed up candy bars, cereals like fruity pebbles and captian crunch, chocolate chips, mini m&ms or reese's pieces, etc. Once again probably forgetting a lot here. My favorite combo is blueberry or raspberry, strawberry, and original tart, covered in cheesecake bites and rainbow sprinkles. Be careful about overfilling the cups they give you, they hold a whole lot of yogurt! I go about 1/3 to 1/2 way full and it's usually only about $3.50. Great for an after-dinner snack! read more

A great place to get froyo! It's cheap, flavorful and it has a great ambiance. I like that they sell yogurt by the weight and you can use those sample cups to sample the flavors. Did i mention that they have an awesome spread of toppings? I secretly think that the yogurt is not really low fat and all natural. It taste too good to be true! I love this place. The place is always clean and well maintained. The fruits and toppings are always neatly displayed. If there's ever a spill, the staff will immediately clean it up. Something that I find very crucial in the service industry is the costumer service. The staff here is always friendly. I love the chocolate flavored yogurt this place has to offer. I can taste the richness of the flavor (as in chocolate flavor, no watery taste) as it melts into my mouth. Topped with caramel and some crushed Oreos, you got yourself one very tasty dessert. At 35 cents per ounce, my usual total for an outing here reaches $12 (well, that's when I bring two very hungry kids and face them with unlimited flow of yogurt and candy). Thank you to the person who created the yogurt cups, because if it were any bigger, it would hurt my wallet.
